961503 tn?1247059639 I have been prescribed Simvastatin 40 MG and Lisinopril 10 MG for high cholesterol and high blood pressure (1 pill each every day) - I'm on my 2nd day of Simvastatin and will be taking Lisinopril on thursday. My doctor wanted me to not start them both at the same time so that I can see, if any, side effects Sim will have - and once I start the Lisinopril, I can see what different, if any, side effects both pills could have.
Avatar m tn I also have both high cholesterol and high blood pressure. For me, they are not related. I use simvastatin to lower the cholesterol and lisinopril to lower the bp. The lisinopril works w/o the simvastatin and v.v.
Avatar n tn I am 71 years old. About 10 weeks ago my blood pressure went suddenly up to183/87 and went to ER. Doctors did CT scan, x-rays, blood work and found every thing normal. They just gave me anti anxiety medication and sent me home. Also me contact a cardiologist. The following week I was quite normal and my bp was never more than 130/80. Following week contacted cardiologist as a precaution. He suggested to take Carvidilol 6.25my/Lisinopril 5mg/Simvastatin 25mg/Aspirin81mg.
Avatar n tn Pulse pressure is the difference in blood pressure between the systolic blood pressure and the diastolic blood pressure. Pulse pressure in healthy adults in a sitting position is about 40 mmHg. Your have a wide pulse pressure of 93mmHg.
Avatar m tn Hi, As remar has advised, you need to continue the medication along with a medication for blood pressure, as high cholesterol with high BP is a bad combination. As regards gaining weight, you need to look at your calorie intake, reduce it and do regular exercise. Also avoid taking high cholesterol food.If your food consists of more carbohydrate, replace part of it with protein while reducing the overall calorie intake.
Avatar m tn Her blood pressure spike really high which is why she takes the strong Verapamil in the morning and a softer blood pressure medication (Benicar) at night. Anyway, after the episode where I had to take her to the emergency room we got her back on her usual routine of Verapamil and Benicar.
1423357 tn?1511085442 My mother whom I have cared for, for many years was overweight, had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, osteoarthritis etc, etc. is on all kinds of meds. Norvasc and Simvar in particular for some years. I have managed to reduce her weight through changes in diet mainly (she is hemiplegic, so can't exercise as others can). But because my husband is diabetic (resistant to change also), I have changed our family meals so they are lower in carbs and lower GI wherever I can.
428155 tn?1203688894 My cholesterol and blood pressure dropped into the normal range and I got off the Lescol and BP meds. Have kept up the same way of eating and have maintained my weight loss with little effor. Might want to try it.
Avatar m tn For the first time ever in my life I had my cholesterol and blood pressure checked and I found out I had very high cholesterol and normal blood pressure. My total cholesterol was 8.4mm (approximately 325mg), triglycerides were 6.1mm, and HDL was 1.75mm. There was no LDL measurement taken due the high triglyceride level.
Avatar m tn Next door in HCV forum, the opinion is that HCV patients with high viral load in general have lowered cholesterol level, and those with high levels have better treatment response. I guess that makes sense. because if cholesterol level is inversely correlated with viral load, the higher the cholesterol level, thus the lower the viral load, the better the treatment efficacy.
Avatar n tn I was on simvastatin also and my cpk was high and getting higher and they took me off immediatly. as I understand it all statins have the potential to cause cpk to rise. you may want to stop taking it. check w/ your Dr.
Avatar m tn I recently am very successful in dropping body weight by diet. My blood pressure was high about this time last year. Its highest was 150/95. My weight was ~155 - 160 lb. Almost I was about to take blood pressure drug, but decide to try variety of good ways first. The body weight is the first target. Here are things I did and keep doing: 1. change breakfast to oatmeal with from beggal with cream cheese (typical).
Avatar f tn Cholesterol goals, and specifically LDL goals are based on risk factors (age, smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes, known coronary artery disease to name a few). A young person with no risk factors, goal LDL is currently less then 160 mg/dl. These goals change as your risk factors do. Cholesterol levels are dependent on genetics (urnmodifiable) as well as diet and exercise (both extremely modifiable).
Avatar n tn On a recent blood test my potassium level was above normal. I stopped taking simvastatin. After 3 months I took another blood test and now my cholesterol level has risen to 6.5. What shall I do. I am seeing my Doctor next week.
Avatar f tn Problem is I think if you can't take one statin you may not be able to take any. But there are other drugs you can try like Niaspan (slow release niacin) and vitorin and so forth. I don't know if you are into changing your diet but if you get a chance watch the video Forks over Knives. It is how a plant based diet can reverse althroschlerosis. My husband's cholesterol was 260, blood pressure was 140/90 and weight 260. He is 6' 2" though.
1806721 tn?1554333407 In the past 6 months, besides rapid weight loss, I also experienced fatigue, weakness, cold feet, dizziness, sudden drop of blood pressure, increased thirst and trips to restroom, low grade fever on and off with left side abdominal pain. My doc thought I had UTI and ulcer b/c my urine/blood test show staph and h pylori infections. Two months ago, my fasting glucose was 92 (normsl). However, I also heard that you may still have high blood sugar even though the fasting level is normal.
474189 tn?1211184460 They have put me on Lisinopril and Simvastatin (despite blood pressure or cholesterol never being high ??) they say it is to try to lessen any further damage but that's as much as they tell me at the moment.
512560 tn?1222560127 Thank you. I have had blood tests, but haven't had [gone] for the results for my last ones. I do have very high blood pressure, I am on 100 mg Atenolol and 40 mg Simvastatin [I'm only 31 years old]. With regard to 'values' I don't know what you mean, but the only abbreviations are 'UTE' and 'LFT'.
1273125 tn?1365077526 Every time I go to pick up my medicine now the Pharmacists stop what they are doing to ask if my doctors have spoken to me about being on a statin and do I have high blood pressure?????
Avatar n tn High triglycerides are often a sign of other conditions that increase the risk of heart disease and stroke as well, including obesity and the metabolic syndrome — a cluster of conditions that includes too much fat around the waist, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, high blood sugar and abnormal cholesterol levels. Most doctors recommend 3 1000 MG of fish oil per day.

Avatar m tn I took an aspirin thinking it may be blood pressure and that didnt do the trick either, it did seem to help a little but not enough to alleviate the symptoms. At this time, I take 500-750 mg of metformin per day and 20 mg of simvastatin at bedtime. Any answers could help. Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn My doctor cut down my lisinopril for high blood pressure because it seems to have normalized on its own, and then my pulse dropped quickly. I would be so curious to see what you learned, because I’m 47 and they’re talking about a pacemaker due to bradycardia. Something is not adding up in my mind. I’d love your thoughts. Hope you’re well!
Avatar n tn As the hematuria is detected in the morning sample or in concentrated urine, two matters need specific attention - Blood pressure control, as blood pressure is normally at its highest in the early hours (around 4 a.m.), and hydration. Ensure that your fluid intake is regular and optimal as it can help prevent damage to the kidney, especially when you are on medications that can prove toxic to kidney function.
Avatar f tn Anyway, I am wondering if anyone has experienced head pressure and off center dizzyness--not the spins, but just off. I also have tingling in my chest at times, my hands and my feet. I am however, on Paxil and Ativan at night. I have been weaning myself off both meds for the past 2 weeks very slowly. I don't have anxiety or depression, but was put on these by my EP for the arrhythmia symptoms. I did not like beta blockers. Anyway, I am worried I am at risk for a stroke.
