Avatar f tn If your blood tests were normal it is not likely to be the statin as the current blood tests are very accurate, but everyone is different. I know it is much to consider, but let the doctor do their job and I'm sure you'll get your answer.
907968 tn?1292622204 I did the same thing back in February, getting nervous about my cholesterol blood tests. Things came out great back then with the exception that my overall cholesterol number was low, 106 mg/dl from 130 mg/dl three months earlier. Monday (5-17-10) I see my PCP to go over these numbers as well as to discuss another newly diagnosed ear problem for the first time (superior canal dehiscence). Currently I take a 40mg Simvastatin every night.
Avatar f tn I have been taking simvastatin for three weeks since having a Tia but have also had a flu like cold for ten days , I am still having aching flu like pains which I would have thought would have passed by now . 2085202 tn?1373199740 At first I thought I had a disease of some kind but tests have shown everything is fine. I read that simvastatin can eat up your muscle and skeleton!!! That scared the crap out of me and i'm sure this is the cause. My Dr. has run tests to see if it has caused this and so far so good. I'm frustrated and want to get off it but he insists I stay on it. Is there a non statin I can take? If so what would be good? Also i'm desperate and needing to know is this permanant?
961503 tn?1247059639 I have been prescribed Simvastatin 40 MG and Lisinopril 10 MG for high cholesterol and high blood pressure (1 pill each every day) - I'm on my 2nd day of Simvastatin and will be taking Lisinopril on thursday. My doctor wanted me to not start them both at the same time so that I can see, if any, side effects Sim will have - and once I start the Lisinopril, I can see what different, if any, side effects both pills could have.

Avatar n tn I think they are in the same drug class, I've taken both with the similar results. As I recall, I was changed from lipitor to simvastatin because simvastatin isn't as strong a statin because of some very strong congestive heart meds that impact the liver and kidneys. Factors that can change liver functions include weight gain, alcohol consumption, exercise levels and diet, so it takes a health professional, which I'm not, to ferret out cause for blood test changes.
Avatar m tn Advicor (lovastatin/niacin extended-release), Simcor (simvastatin/niacin extended-release), and Vytorin (simvastatin/ezetimibe).

First I'd like to tell you what medication she is currently taking then I'll tell you what's wrong with her. A) Verapamil 240 mg B) clonozepam 1 mg C) simvastatin 20 mg D) levothiroxin 50 mcg E) Benicar 40 mg F) ramapril 10 mg.
Avatar f tn Crestor is a statin (rosuvastatin calcium) only, Vytorin is a statin (Simvastatin) with Zetia (ezetimibe). Statins work by controlling the production of cholesterol in your liver while Zetia works by preventing cholesterol to be absorbed in your digestive system. Of the two, Crestor is the stronger of the two. In addition, recent trials have shown that adding Zetia does not improve the performance of Vytorin over Simvastatin alone.
Avatar m tn since i am on a complex combo made of etv, gcmaf, ntz, heptech supplements, any effect on hbv, hbsag is from the combo and it cannot be determined if from sim, ntz or whatever anyway we can say one thing for sure use of simvastatin 40mg for 1 month had no negative effects, normal alt etc, i will slowly increase to 80mg dose and see if any sides or positive effects i am wating for hbsag quantification, hbvdna and hbvdna genes sequence, any of these tests is very useful to determine effect of t
Avatar m tn I have been taking simvastatin for over 2 years to lower my cholesterol. I 've gained over 50 pounds, and I don't think the drug is doing what its supposed to do, I forgot to mention that, never before have I had "high blood-pressure" until now. I have stopped taking the drug in the hope that the pounds and the blood-pressure will return to "my" normal health state. My question is: what side affects or withdrawl symptoms should I expect?

1806721 tn?1554333407 However, I also heard that you may still have high blood sugar even though the fasting level is normal. Thus, there are a couple tests that meed to be run together esp. with symptoms. Could stomach and urine tract infections explain all the symptoms that I have? Should I request my doc to run a thorough diabetes screening test? It looks like a recent study also links h pylori infection with diabetes. Apprarently, something is not feeling right and I'm quite concerned.
