Avatar m tn Meds are as follows;MULTAQ-WARFARIN-GEMFIBROZIL-SIMVASTATIN-METOPROLOL-ASPIRIN.Any advice greatly appreciated!
Avatar n tn Wow looks like i should have read the warning label when my doc gave me to take them PRN or as necessary to re convert myself......okay i just went off of the site and read up on the label...they are telling us not to take it with the citrus because it effects how our body absorbs the Multaq for maximum performance of the med...if it were me and i had to take it on a daily basis i probably would stay away from all citrus drinks for sure because you want to give yourself the best shot possible...
Avatar m tn My heart rate is running about 10 or 15 beats per minute higher than before. On the Met and Multaq I was running between 45 and 50 bpm. Now I'm running 60 to 65 bpm. I know 60 to 65 is a healthy normal resting rate but I was so used to it being slow that now 65 feels fast.
Avatar n tn After about three years, I was diagnosed hyperthyroid and was switched to Multaq. I cannot exercise as vigorously as before and am feeling fatigued which I attribute to the new medication. Is there any other answer to the A-Fib problem at this point other than ablation?
Avatar f tn “If you are unaware that a patient is on simvastatin and you give either boceprevir or telaprevir, the simvastatin level in the blood can go high and patients can develop muscle breakdown,” said Dr. Jensen. http://www.idse.net//ViewArticle.aspx?
Avatar f tn So, for now I am still taking Multaq twice a day, after breakfast and supper and 81mg aspirin. It is working for me and I have not had any episodes since March. I am back to exercising and I feel pretty good. You have to see what medications work for you. Dont hesitate to ask your EP or cardiologist questions about meds or symptoms you are having. As far as the anxiety, talk to your physician about getting something to help you with that. maybe a very low dose Alprazolam.
Avatar f tn Well it has been almost a week now and the Multaq (dronedarone) seems to be working great, but then again just a week so far. I Have been maintaing a resting heart rate of 69 not to bad for an slightly overweight 57 year old male. I have experienced increased energy levels and look forward to being able to restart and exercise program of light jogging and cycling. This was my 4th cardioversion this calendar year and hopefully my last if the medication holds up.
Avatar f tn Im 47 & have permanent af -on 14mg warfarin and bisoprolol. Had 2 dc cardioversions which lasted hours and a few days before ectopics with sinus followed by full af set in thereafter. Have slight LV hypokinesis. now AADs suggested sotalol/flecanide. Im concerned about proarrhythmias and toxicity. High Warfarin dose and resistance to remain in sinus suggests to me that Id need quite a high sotolol dose too.
Avatar n tn I am 5 weeks post ab lation for atrial tachycardia. I have since had two and very long episodes of tach. One lasted 8 hours constantly in the 120 hr range. The second one was 30 hours in the 120 to 158 range. I had a terrible time getting a dr cause it was a weekend. Finally someone told me to take several doses of inderal and a valium and see if it would stop. It did and my bp didn't fall too badly. But since, every day I have tach.
Avatar m tn No, Sotalol is a beta blocker and anti-arrhythmic drug. Multaq is a very different chemical and is not a beta-blocker. Multaq (Dronederone) is actually similar in molecular structure to Amioderone but without the Iodine which makes the Ami so toxic. Update on my crossover to Multaq... It is now Sunday morning and I am still in normal rhythm (yay!). So far, the only side effect from the Multaq seems to be some heart racing and pounding for an hour or so after dosing.
Avatar n tn can't thank you all for the support you have given me,i,m starting to feel better and giving this time to settle dowm. if we need to they would like to use a drug called multaq. it is always helpful to know your not alone .
996946 tn?1503249112 s estimated the QTc is prolonged by 10 ms (moderate prolonging) by use of Multaq. Flecainide and other class I antiarrhythmic drugs also have possible proarrhythmic abilities. Beta blockers (except sotalol) and calcium blockers does not. Multaq is not recommended if the QTc is >500 ms. Multaq (dronedarone) is chemically "in family" with amiodarone, but with far less side effects (Amiodarone is very toxic and considered the choice if other drugs fail).
Avatar m tn I've read not long ago about there being some lawsuits over Multaq and liver damage. Does anyone know if this drug truly is bad? I've read some of the reports saying to stay away from it. I'm only asking because my mother has Tachycardia, and the Coreg she is taking doesn't seem to be helping her fast heart beat much, lately anyways. The doctor said the next medicine he would try is Multaq (Dronedarone). But after reading about the lawsuit stuff it scares you off.
Avatar m tn Both drugs were taken twice daily so I took my last Sotalol at dinner and my first Multaq the next morning. I had a few days of jittery nerves and anxiety as the beta blockade came down but that was all. That said, consult your doctor to be sure.
Avatar f tn I have hypothyroidism (treated with Thyroid Erfa) and hyperparathyroidism (no treatment) and dysautonomia. I am taking atenolol and Multaq for my blood pressure and heart rhythm problems (atrial fibrillation in 2010). I have a mild oestrogen treatment (63 years old). One Doctor suspectes Multaq. Could it cause the neck symptoms? My dose is very low, 200 mg, whereas the normal dose is 2x400 mg.
Avatar m tn As I mentioned above, I started taking Multaq on September 1 and had three brief episodes during the first month. But since that time, I've had no episodes and have been able to resume my exercise program and run 4 plus miles at a time with no problem. I've had no side effects. I plan to stay on it till next Fall and then see if I can stay in normal rhythm without it.
Avatar n tn I quit taking the simvastatin last tuesday, and by friday I looked perfectly normal with no steroid cream...... Thanks again for all the help!
Avatar m tn I use simvastatin to lower the cholesterol and lisinopril to lower the bp. The lisinopril works w/o the simvastatin and v.v.
Avatar m tn Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker while lisnopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) inhibitor. Both groups of drugs and simvastatin are unlikely to cause erectile dysfunction. However yes, all three of them can cause swelling of ankles. Talk to your doctor. You can change your medications. Among antihypertensives you need to avoid thiazides , beta blockers and alpha blockers. High blood pressure and reduced blood supply to penis can also cause erectile dysfunction.
Avatar n tn I have been on 20 mg of simvastatin and 3000 mg niaspan now my ck levels have went from 60 to 295 i could hardly walk .will my levels come down if i lower dose. and reverse damage. i have 12 stents .the rest of my blood work is fine.
Avatar n tn During af I got bisoprolol (not good, stopped), Digoxin and Dilmin (not good, stopped). Digoxin and atenolol were left until I got Multaq a week before electric cardioversion. Atenolol has been very good for me to prevent tachycardia for tens of years. Most betablockers are not good for me. Calcium blockers are not good either, eg. Verapamil is forbidden. I don't know Crestor and Cartia. Do you know to what group of medicines they belong? Now I have been without af over nine months.
1606212 tn?1298649547 Unfortunately about a month ago i had an incident pop up where i could not convert my heart thru the antenolol and took the very hard leap and took a half of the Multaq rather then go get converted again because i was scared to death to take the whole thing, alone at the time thinking something bad would happen...
Avatar f tn they took me off atenolol and plavix after the second episode of afib in December 2016 and put me on amiodarone and eliquis and aspirin..
Avatar n tn On a recent blood test my potassium level was above normal. I stopped taking simvastatin. After 3 months I took another blood test and now my cholesterol level has risen to 6.5. What shall I do. I am seeing my Doctor next week.
Avatar f tn It showed short runs of a-fib and v-tach, but very inconsistently, but surprising and a bit worrisome. I have a 15yr history of arrhythmia and also have chd and have had strokes because of the chd. I am currently on aspirin as well as other meds including a new prescription for multaq, but does the a-fib warrant coumadin? I just read about a-fib and I don't want to have another stroke.
Avatar n tn Thank-you all for your responses....I've recently been prescribed a med called multaq. I'm also taking calcium magnesium before bed and this seems to have prevented the onset of flutters at night and into the morning...I'm not sure if it's the multaq, and or the calcium magnesium or a combo of both which has helped me.
Avatar f tn Patients were put on a cholesterol-lowering diet and given one of the medications. After 18 weeks, patients given simvastatin had significantly lower total cholesterol, lower LDL, lower triglycerides, and higher HDL cholesterol levels than those who took pravastatin. The study found that the patients on simvastatin achieved the target LDL level of less than 130, more than those on pravastatin (65 percent on simvastatin versus 35 percent on pravastatin).
