280418 tn?1306325910 I will definitely have your list in mind, though. I have had all but a few of those side effects. Part of me wonders which of those are herxing, though. I am taking a fistfull of supplements per my LLMD twice a day also. I am on a gluten free diet per Dr.s orders too. I think I'm in good hands and just have to watch my side effects/symptoms like a hawk.
Avatar n tn We are trying to avoid any side effects here. The longer a drug is taken, the chance for its side effects to manifest may be higher. Ask your physician about this. Putting you off the medication to see how you may fare without it will be necessary. After all, being on medication for long periods may not be very cost effective and may also result to unwanted side effects.
Avatar n tn Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?
Avatar f tn Drug affect different people in many different ways. Just look at the side-effects listed on most drugs..... a long list and there are usually more. I have never had any reactions to antibiotics that I am aware of, but it appears you did, and others may as well.
Avatar f tn I was really scared of the side effects of the meds, and I waited to start taking them simply out of fear. Partly that's because Lyme etc. causes anxiety, so on top of being sick, I was anxious also because of the sickness, and all of that makes thinking clearly really hard. If that happens to you, know that you are not the only one who has been through it.
1346797 tn?1290651918 However, a couple of days later I developed severe pain in my right ear. The pain is so terrible that my right arm is going numb to the point it's hard to lift it and it's affecting my right leg as well. I went back to the doc today and prescribed me Omnicef antibiotics and Auroguard for the pain in my ear. Well the Auroguard seemed to help at first, but over the hours the pain has persistently gotten worse and the drops aren't working as well.
163305 tn?1333668571 I just thought we all might take a little time out from our frets, our side effects, tx, and remember what a trick and treat life can be. Nothing makes me smile like a little kid in a costume. Happy Halloween everybody!
Avatar m tn I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.
Avatar m tn This does not seem to work as I still have foul smelling discharge from my nose and post nasal drip. My teeth on the left hand side of the mouth still hurt (but they do not seem to be the source of infection) and still have headaches. I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and if there are additional things I could be doing.
Avatar f tn The doctor also says that he could be picking up bacteria from his hands. Toddlers tend to put their hands in their mouths alot ( and my son ***** his thumb when he is sleepy).I wash his hands often but he still gets these throat infections. Except for a period when he went about 4 months without any problem, he gets the infections about every three to four weeks or so. On occasion, if his throat is only a little red, he will get over it on his own.
Avatar f tn but many experts worry that they are taking far too great a risk with toddlers--not just because of potential side effects (nervousness and insomnia are the most common with Ritalin) but because there is no data on how psycho-tropic drugs affect long-term brain development. "The period between birth and 4 is a time of tremendous change in the maturation of the brain," says Dr. Joseph Coyle, chair of Harvard Medical School's department of psychiatry.
Avatar n tn I have a three year old nephew and this morning he decided to push really hard on the side on my stomach. Could this have caused anything bad to happen I'm only 6weeks so I'm scared it could've caused damage. Is that possible or am I over thinking it?
Avatar f tn It wound up causing a massive infection, along with near constant fever and previously a very ill period of 4-6 weeks where I had the most horrible waves of debilitating flu-like illness. At the onset of the infection, which turned into an abscess, my white blood cell count was slightly elevated. 4 months later, still fighting this awful infection (that spread into lymph passages, ear and eye on that side), my white blood cell count is normal.
Avatar f tn I am just looking for some opinions. I have been doing lots of research in hopes of helping him in the interim year that we are waiting for an appt. and we do have another appt with the ped next week. I have also gotten him into a clinic that is funded by the Autism Alliance for an evaluation by them...although it will not be an official diagnosis it will help sort some things out, I hope. Thanks so much for reading and giving any input.
Avatar n tn Never having dealt with strep I assumed the smell was from the bacteria of strep. The Amoxicillan they gave her did not work so we went back for Omnicef and after 2 doses of meds the smell was gone. Two weeks after meds the smell came back... back to the Dr. no strep... no answers.... Ive tried everything from no juice to flossing with no luck. Is this an indication of a bigger problem?
Avatar f tn I just took my first dose of Flagyl, keeping my fingers crossed that I see some fantastic results! I have a feeling my babesia might be coming back and I'm taking Omnicef and Flagyl, no other antiparasitics at this point.
Avatar n tn About 1 year ago I as given Omnicef for a bacterial infection. After 3 days of tumultuous diarrhea, I finally stopped this drug but not soon enough. Ever since then, I have had stomach problems. It first started out as irregular and often BM’s, and then progressed to A constant gnawing or burning between my breastbone and navel in addition to erratic BM’s and gas, bloating, and just an overall lousy feeling within the digestive system.
Avatar n tn We have discovered mulitple enlarged lymph nodes on my 2 year old son, with some the size of a pea. He is having alot of episodes of severe sweating from his neck up, where we need to change his shirt or the sheet in his bed is saturated. He does complain of belly pain, where I need to rub his belly. He also complains of leg pain at times where I need to rub his leg or give him Tylenol. My husband was diagnosed with CLL in 2005 and has had 7 rounds of chemo.
Avatar n tn A swollen gland in your groin could be due to STD but it could also reflect skin infection in your leg on that side, athletes’, foot (really) or any number of other sources of inflammation. A single swollen gland as you describe is in no way suggestive of HIV. 4. No 5. No. but you should get it sorted out as suggested.
5569754 tn?1376854288 ) Something Dr X thinks is unremarkable may be very telling to Dr Y, with the passage of time and in view of later tests and symptoms. Diagnosis of Lyme and its coinfections is an art.
373119 tn?1206933406 She is now on 14 days of omnicef at 4.5ml of 250mg/5ml strength. She has received since the 14th omnicef 5ml of 150 (whatever the lower strength is)mg/5ml that was a 10 days script that she took 5 of because they then started rocephin injections on the 20th. The original omnicef was for an ear infection. That was clear when she went in on the 19th and they rocephin (1gm) injections were started due to the prolonged fever (since the 8th). She had three 1 gm injections..
Avatar f tn Hello there and thanks for taking the time to read my question, I am a female age 33 years old and up until this year my bloodwork has always been perfectly normal. In November my Gynecologist told me that my Vitamin D levels were low and prescribed Vitamin D for me to take for 10 days. I did that like I was supposed to and haven't been to the doctor until this month. But to recap here is the problems I have been noticing. In March, I noticed that my feet and hands were itching.
Avatar m tn After about a day and a half (just under 2 weeks after the first impetigo spot) another one has popped up in the other corner of my lip. This kind of threw me off. The one in the left corner has come and gone about 4 times in the last 3 months, but it has never shown up in the other corner, and while already on antibiotics? I thought it may be a cold sore, but it is EXACTLY like the other side, and I thought HSV didn't occur on both sides, and rarely in the corner of the mouth.
Avatar f tn I know this drug has worked for me 3 times in the past, but I am anxious about when I will start feeling the effects of it this time around. I have 2 little toddlers (4 and 2), and I need to be up and well for them, but it's so hard to even get out of bed in the morning. Any advice/suggestions or a supportive word? thanks!
Avatar f tn Your neuro should be understanding of the frailties of someone in the throes of a frightening disease and frightening side effects. If your doc gets all uppity and bothered by this, then you need a more compassionate one. I totally agree that you and the neuro need to get onto the same page with what kind of MS you have and what the treatment plan is. As mentioned above there are no meds approved for PPMS. Would you like to give us a quick timeline of your symptoms and their progression?
Avatar f tn His explanation, the 2 weeks of flagyl destroy the Cystic Form of the spirochette but the other antibiotic in my case Doxy destroys the actual spirochette. So the two weeks that I have been off of Flagyl have really been kind of miserable, I have the severe joint pain, chest pain and everything. Classic Symptoms of Herxing! As far as probiotics...Are you taking Acidolphilis? I take 10billion units a day(4 pills) 2 at noon and 2 at 6pm.
Avatar f tn I was reading about Avelox and it mentioned serious heart rhythm side effects - a rare heart called prolongation of QT interval. I am scared to death to take this. I did disclose to the doctor that I suffer from SVT but she didn't mention side effects or warnings. My question is.....has anyone had any reactions to this antibiotic? Are there any "heart friendly" antibiotics out there that I could ask to substitute?
