I was reading about Avelox and it mentioned serious heart rhythm side effects - a rare heart called prolongation of QT interval. I am scared to death to take this. I did disclose to the doctor that I suffer from SVT but she didn't mention side effects or warnings. My question is.....has anyone had any reactions to this antibiotic? Are there any "heart friendly" antibiotics out there that I could ask to substitute?
So I've been on depo for 9.months now and got my renewal shot and antibiotics for 10 days on the same day, how long should I wait before having unprotected sex? How will they effect eachother????
We are trying to avoid any side effects here. The longer a drug is taken, the chance for its side effects to manifest may be higher. Ask your physician about this. Putting you off the medication to see how you may fare without it will be necessary.After all, being on medication for long periods may not be very cost effective and may also result to unwanted side effects.
I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question,
wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
I am allergic to so many antibiotics. I now have a serious sinus infection and my doctor cannot find an antibiotic to treat the infection that does not cause either hives or diarrhea. I need help. Below are the antibiotics that I cannot take but can I take???

The implant was done on the upper left side. Following the surgery I ended up with chronic sinus infection, for which I took a course of amoxicillin. That did not help and the oral specialist put me on augmentum. Upon completion of that, infection came back 3 days later. My dentist explained that inane a chronic sinus infection and would have to take implant out. He removed the implant, cleaned the sinus and prescribed another course of augmentum.
Once again, a round of Omnicef for 14 days made him better, but when I took him back for recheck and repeat x-ray, it showed he still had a mild sinus infection on the left side...So what is happening is the antibiotics have been getting him better, but not all the way, so it just comes right back, even if we keep him on antibiotics for 2-3 weeks at a time. He is set up to start allergy injections next week.

My child was 1 1/2 months old when she developed a "cold" that consisted of a stuffy nose for about 1 1/2 months. After 2 bouts with antibiotics(amoxicillin & omnicef) it seemed that we were in the clear. Then about 3-4 weeks later she came down with a terrible cold that doesn't seem to want to go away and the doctors said there was nothing they could do for it.
The folliculitis was on my head, back, different areas of my thighs, and occasionally my chest. After being on the antibiotics for about 4 days, a new folliculitis lesion popped up on my inner right thigh, and a couple on the back of my head. They were a little tender. I have taken 10 days of Omnicef and most recently(this week) i just finished 250mg Zpack but I still have the discharge. Back in November I notice the gland behind my right ear was swollen. For the past week, my neck is tight under my ears and jaw and under my armpits. Today I noticed the gland in my right groin is rock hard and the size of a large pea. I cannot feel the left groin gland. It does not hurt to touch but it makes it uncomfortable to sit and have some minor testicular pain.
Hi everyone! I'm a 2B and just started my treatment 2 nights ago with my first injection. It went really well, and I still don't notice any side effects (sx?). I am taking pegintron and rebetol. Is this normal? I have been reading about all the side effects and had me pretty scared, but so far, I feel fine??
He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots. My first question is how quickly do these shots work? My other question is: Is there some underlying problem that is causing these ear infections, something more serious? Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?
t ever remember having this sensation. My right cheek/sinus cavity(only one side has seemed infected) feels sore and really aches. I was diagnosed with a sinus infection about 2 weeks ago----was put on an antibiotic which did not help. Four days ago, I was put on Omnicef. Granted, I did have lots of congestion and green mucous throughout these past 2 weeks; however, now, I have nothing dripping nor do I feel like anything is clogged "in there"....
The treatment that you have been prescribed is correct. If you are having any side effects then get the antibiotics changed and even oral antibiotics can be added.

Never having dealt with strep I assumed the smell was from the bacteria of strep. The Amoxicillan they gave her did not work so we went back for Omnicef and after 2 doses of meds the smell was gone. Two weeks after meds the smell came back... back to the Dr. no strep... no answers.... Ive tried everything from no juice to flossing with no luck. Is this an indication of a bigger problem?
m a 42 year old healthy/inshape male who had a pretty decent sized lipoma removed from my side/ rib cage. About 5 days later, it started to swell up. I went back to my dermatologist, and she said I have a hematoma- usually they resolve themselves. Two days later, it's still big, and i have pain in my left side/chest area. The stitches are set to be removed tomorrow- But- it looks as if it's (the hematoma) is even bigger than before- swollen like a baloon, not blue.
