My child was 1 1/2 months old when she developed a "cold" that consisted of a stuffy nose for about 1 1/2 months. After 2 bouts with antibiotics(amoxicillin & omnicef) it seemed that we were in the clear. Then about 3-4 weeks later she came down with a terrible cold that doesn't seem to want to go away and the doctors said there was nothing they could do for it.

I see one of the side effects are lowed white blood cells and right now mine are 2.9. Idk why theyre so low. Prob the lyme..? I am not used to have a LOW white count..

We are trying to avoid any side effects here. The longer a drug is taken, the chance for its side effects to manifest may be higher. Ask your physician about this. Putting you off the medication to see how you may fare without it will be necessary.After all, being on medication for long periods may not be very cost effective and may also result to unwanted side effects.

Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?

I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.

4 months later, still fighting this awful infection (that spread into lymph passages, ear and eye on that side), my white blood cell count is normal. My doctor seems to interpret this as being a sign that the infection is not as bad as it feels, even though I have almost constant fever, still don't feel well, and have deep aching pain in jaw especially at night, when the infection seems to intensify.

I went back to the doc today and prescribed me Omnicef antibiotics and Auroguard for the pain in my ear. Well the Auroguard seemed to help at first, but over the hours the pain has persistently gotten worse and the drops aren't working as well. My arm is still trying to go numb, it's painful! Any ideas?

Hi all, wondering if you have come across information indicating that flagyl can treat babesia at the same time it's treating Lyme. I understand it's also a antiparasitic, so not sure if that counts. Drug affect different people in many different ways. Just look at the side-effects listed on most drugs..... a long list and there are usually more. I have never had any reactions to antibiotics that I am aware of, but it appears you did, and others may as well.

About 1 year ago I as given Omnicef for a bacterial infection. After 3 days of tumultuous diarrhea, I finally stopped this drug but not soon enough. Ever since then, I have had stomach problems. It first started out as irregular and often BM’s, and then progressed to A constant gnawing or burning between my breastbone and navel in addition to erratic BM’s and gas, bloating, and just an overall lousy feeling within the digestive system.

I got it, I had no side effects of anything it was quick and painless aside from my arm being a bit tender. But I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I got mine because whopping cough is a high rate killer for infants because it swells airways and infants airways are so small already/: but it's all a personal decision!

I have taken 10 days of Omnicef and most recently(this week) i just finished 250mg Zpack but I still have the discharge. Back in November I notice the gland behind my right ear was swollen. For the past week, my neck is tight under my ears and jaw and under my armpits. Today I noticed the gland in my right groin is rock hard and the size of a large pea. I cannot feel the left groin gland. It does not hurt to touch but it makes it uncomfortable to sit and have some minor testicular pain.

So I started the antibiotics yesterday and am suppose to rotate days with two Malaria meds but I don't want to take them. Part of me just wants to try the antibiotics first. Artemisinin and Pyrimethamine and Coartem have to many side effects and I don't want to take them.

She is now on 14 days of omnicef at 4.5ml of 250mg/5ml strength. She has received since the 14th omnicef 5ml of 150 (whatever the lower strength is)mg/5ml that was a 10 days script that she took 5 of because they then started rocephin injections on the 20th. The original omnicef was for an ear infection. That was clear when she went in on the 19th and they rocephin (1gm) injections were started due to the prolonged fever (since the 8th). his pediatrician prescribed Omnicef for severe ear infections. She said there was a 5% chance hed be allergic to that but she wanted to try it out. well, he was allergic. After 3 doses he broke out in HIVES all over his face and scalp scratching and screaming in a way no child ought to scream. I immediately gave him benadryl and stopped the meds (wed at 9am was the last dose) it is now friday afternoon he has no fever but is still breaking out in some hives. they go away on their own.

I was reading about Avelox and it mentioned serious heart rhythm side effects - a rare heart called prolongation of QT interval. I am scared to death to take this. I did disclose to the doctor that I suffer from SVT but she didn't mention side effects or warnings. My question is.....has anyone had any reactions to this antibiotic? Are there any "heart friendly" antibiotics out there that I could ask to substitute?
