Common Questions and Answers about Side effects of biaxin in children

biaxin

Avatar f tn My Dr prescribed 500 ml of flagyl and 500 ml of biaxin to be taken twice daily for 14 days I did not complete the treatment " the side effects were to extreme I did it for 11 days ..and stopped ...My question 'was " were those side effects common? Your answer is gratly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Give it about a 7-10 days for the side effects to wear off. If you experience more side effects, especially life threatning, you will need to seek medical attention asap. Remember, always read about a medication prior to taking it or ask your physician and/or the pharmacy about the medication.
Avatar f tn I was on it for a year with no side effects at all.
4451049 tn?1387153437 I could be looking at rare side effects, and wala.. I get more of the rare side effects than the common ones, I think... I don't like to pester the doctor all of the time, especially with these "rare" side effects.. I don't mind dealing with side effects as long as they are not permanent! There are some medications that can cause permanent damage, to the eye for example..
4939681 tn?1361299299 I share my story so that if you get another ancillary infection, you might look into an herbal to treat it instead of adding in another abx with side effects. Although, in the case of a recent UTI, I did take Rx, so an herbal isn't always a good alternative. Also, I'm guessing your doc gave you Nystatin in case of Candida. (Statins are taken for cholesterol and not a good idea for a woman with Lyme, et.al., according to one of my neurologists.
Avatar f tn I have heard of others who had significant herxing on Doxy. If it's an intensification of symptoms, it more likely to be a herx than just side effects. I think your doctor's advice makes sense. Try to ride it out. Herxing usually gets better. Just remember, the intensification of symptoms means the bugs are dying. That's a good thing.
Avatar n tn His teacher and myself (my son too) have noticed a postitive change in his work output at school and during homework sessions. Two of the side effects are of great concern to me. My son can't sleep until well after 10:30 pm. (we are trying Melatonin, but haven't found the right dosage). The other side effect that is most troubling is the loss of appetite. When we went to see his specialist, 6 days ago, he'd lost 4.5 lbs (in 40 days).
Avatar n tn Hi. I am currently taking biaxin because I have pleurisy. My question is how long does the biaxin stay in your system after you're finished taking it? Is it safe to get pregnant after taking it?
Avatar f tn It reduces the inflammation and thins the mucus. It is useful in both infectious and non-infectious bronchitis. No side effects.
Avatar f tn I do not have a lyme dx but I am working with my neurologist on it...I am also looking for an LLMD in my area. I am sure that I will have no trouble finding one near Philadelphia. I have a question about antibiotics. Since 2001, I have what I thought was an allergy to Cipro. Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects.
Avatar f tn As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. Macrobid is nitrofurantoin, not clarithromycin. You may also look here: http://www.ehealthme.com/drug_interactions_side_effects/Nexium-2792078.
4939681 tn?1361299299 t taken either of the above, but I know that warnings of permanent side effects from antibiotics and parasitic medications aren't always made well known, so I thought the post was extremely helpful to any of those suggested to take these meds. I, myself, have been experiencing horrible muscle spasms since my 2 day stint with Biaxin.
Avatar f tn Since I have gone back on Biaxin and Tindamax in the last week, I seem to hit a wall around 3pm and I can't keep my eyes open. I have taken an afternoon nap about 4 days out of 7. I am a terrible napper and rarely ever nap, even when I was at my sickest with Lyme. I guess it could be herxing from the meds, but I haven't had this in the past. I am wondering if these two drugs are particularly targeting cysts and spiros in my brain.
Avatar n tn The second was also in China and was also unprotected oral but as I was drinking I remember putting on a condom and inserting into her vagina for a very short while but after I was concerned that the condom fell of, even though I think I remember taking it off after the fact but that is worse case secerio. This happened in Sept of 2008 and below is the testing I have had.
Avatar f tn does keep me away from any of those that are known to have those side effects, so it must be the formula in how the drug is made.
Avatar n tn I belong to a support group for teachers and parents of children suffering from anxiety. Many of the children take medication - including Celexa. About four children in our group are on this medication (all in conjuction with intervention and/or therapy). For these children, this "drug" seems to work the best with the fewest side effects. Our child takes Celexa - before that Prozac and Effexor. Celexa is the best one for her - so far.
Avatar m tn t see the urination/constipation problem on the warnings/ side effects/ overdose section of the Benadryl box. Thanks so much for the insight it's really helped. I'll keep you posted.
Avatar m tn I just want to avoid the possibility of C.Diff. or any other problems pertaining to side effects of the antibiotics.
Avatar m tn m not sure if Zofran is used in children but you could ask. Tetrabenzene is used but that has some serious side effects so that might not be for children either. But there are other medications as well. Clonidine in patch form (Catapres) is especially helpful for tic like motions (tardive tourreticism which is a variant of tardive dyskinesia I have as well). I am on Tenex which is helpful as well. I believe both of those are used in children.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
454366 tn?1211245301 Litium did give me a hyperactive thyroid condition. The med I was given for that has a side effect of osteoporosis in the lumbar in long term use (Synthroid). I ended up with litium toxicity a few years back because diuretics will cause that. As you know caffine is a diuretic (soft drinks) - which most kiddo's I know tend to drink. I would not allow litium to be given to my child; not going through what I have with it. I have a son who is ADHD.
