As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. I have or had a bacterial infection in my stomach (gastritus) according to my endoscopy recently taken, along with a couple of small ulcers " My Dr prescribed 500 ml of flagyl and 500 ml of biaxin to be taken twice daily for 14 days I did not complete the treatment " the side effects were to extreme I did it for 11 days ..and stopped ...My question 'was " were those side effects common? I was on Biaxin, which is brand name for clarithromycin. Why did your MD not check the box for generic, which is generally a lot cheaper but is technically the same drug? It's a fairly common drug.

If you belong to WalMart or perhaps Target or similar stores, I understand their pharmacy charges are quite reasonable.

I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems.

1) Both azithromycin and penicillin are 100% effective in curing incubating syphilis.
Other options include cephalosporins such as cefpodoxime proxetil (Vantin) and cefuroxime (Ceftin). In patients allergic to beta-lactams, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim), clarithromycin (Biaxin), and azithromycin. So, if you are allergic to the penicillin group your doctor could have prescribed Bactrim for you. Regards.
First, I believe heterosexually transmitted syphilis is uncommon in Germany. Second, although oral sex can transmit syphilis, it is rare. Third, your skin problems don't sound at all like syphilis. Finally, clarithromycin (Biaxin) usually would prevent or abort syphilis if exposed and for sure doxycycline would do so. Therefore, there is no chance you have syphilis at this time. No risk at all and no point in being tested for it.

Biaxin (clarithromycin) is an antibiotic related to azithromycin which is widely used to treat STIs however biaxin is not well studies for STI treatment or prevention. As a result, while it is likely that biaxin may be effective against common bacterial STIs, there are not good data to say this with confidence. Most women do not have STIS and it is unlikely that your partner had and STI or if she did, you may not have acquired one.

Clarithromycin (Biaxin in the US) is chemically similar to azithromycin (Zithromax), one of the standard drugs for several STDs. Although it has not been studied extensively against STDs, it undoubtedly is effective in either treating or preventing all the infections that respond to azithromycin. In the dose you were give, you were protected from chlamydia, nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), gonorrhea, and probably syphilis.
Some of the treatment regimens use a medication called metronidazole (Flagyl) or clarithromycin (Biaxin). These medications can cause a metallic taste in the mouth. You will need to consult a gastroenterologist for adequate therapy. Regards.
Depending on the dose/strength its duration is 12-24 hours... its Pregnancy category is C which means "animal studies have shown an adverse effect and there are no adequate and well controlled studies in pregnant woman OR No animal studies have been conducted and there are no adequate or well known studies in pregnant woman"... so pretty much the effects really are not known or there have been effects shown but not much has been looked into it...

I have read on some of the post that it will cure/prevent gon.,syphilis,chlamydia and NGU because it is similar to a Z-pack and then on others that there may be some problems. I started the pills the day after exposure and have been taking them for 4 days. I have not had any sexual contact with my fiance.
