I have or had a bacterial infection in my stomach (gastritus) according to my endoscopy recently taken, along with a couple of small ulcers " My Dr prescribed 500 ml of flagyl and 500 ml of biaxin to be taken twice daily for 14 days I did not complete the treatment " the side effects were to extreme I did it for 11 days ..and stopped ...My question 'was " were those side effects common? Your answer is gratly appreciated.

Recently I came down with an upper respiratory infection and the doctor prescribed me a penicillin to clear it up. I told the doctor that I had a yeast infection the last time I took an antibiotic. I purchased a probiotic but didnt take it till after the 3rd day of medication and the damage was done already. I got a yeast infection and I have had one before due to antibiotics so I knew what it was.

Give it about a 7-10 days for the side effects to wear off. If you experience more side effects, especially life threatning, you will need to seek medical attention asap. Remember, always read about a medication prior to taking it or ask your physician and/or the pharmacy about the medication.

I was on it for a year with no side effects at all.

I couldn't say if I am "as bad off" as you were or not. What I can say is that for me when I herx on abx I expect certain symptoms to get overwhelmingly worse. That I will and have pushed through to get better. However adding a series of very unfortunate new side effects on top of how "bad" I already feel seems nonsensical when the abx that is causing these new symptoms has a family of other abx that I could try instead (with hopefully less horrific side effects).

Sometimes I get shooting pains in my breasts. It has not spread from these areas. I thought it could be a yeast infection, so I started applying Lotrimin cream. I've used it for 7 days and the rash isn't any better. Does this sound like it could be a yeast infection? Does the cream need longer to work? Of course I started reading on the internet and have scared myself silly because of the horror stories of the yeast that spreads throughout your entire body and kills you.

3 days later, I went to the doctor and he diagnosed me with a yeast infection. 14 days later I had symptoms again and went to the doctor again. He said I still had a yeast infection and gave me more medicine. My symptoms never went completely away and now I have some burning again. I have had no bumps but I have one spot that is still red and irritated. Could this be herpes or some other infection? Is this too long a timeline?

I do not have a lyme dx but I am working with my neurologist on it...I am also looking for an LLMD in my area. I am sure that I will have no trouble finding one near Philadelphia. I have a question about antibiotics. Since 2001, I have what I thought was an allergy to Cipro. Took it for an upper respitory infection for 3 days and had terrible problems. The Dr then gave me Levaquin, took for 7 days, with the same side effects.

Can I treat it with regular yeast infection medication or do I need something specific for pregnancy? Are yeast infections common for pregnancy?

Also should add, treated with Cipro 500mg for 10 days and Biaxin 500mg for 21 days for sinus infection, during the time frame of possible std infection....would this cause a delay or would it actually cure the std infection, if there was one to begin with?

in for fear it was not really healed. my question is, is that one of the side effects? i know the monostat 1 & 3 are pretty harsh and ive read about the effects other women experienced. my thinking is, since it is pretty harsh, and ive used it through almost twice, my insides are just angry with me and it is a reaction to the prolonged use ofthe medication rather than the yeast infection. has anyone else experienced this?

re prone to this, you can either request a different antibiotic (one that is less likely to cause this) or ask your doctor if there is something he/she can give you along with the antibiotic to reduce the likelihood of getting a yeast infection.

t see the urination/constipation problem on the warnings/ side effects/ overdose section of the Benadryl box. Thanks so much for the insight it's really helped. I'll keep you posted.

Not only am I having very watery diarrhea, but I’ve been nauseaous and somewhat dizzy and, best of all, I think I’ve developed a yeast infection. And a bad one at that. It itches, burns, and has a strong odor. (Which I know is apparently not common for yeast infections, but idk if this medication could have caused BV or not so...? And my endless late night googling has found that sometimes a yeast infection can smell? I don’t know, man...) So anyway...

For the past week I have been taking an antibiotic called Biaxin (for a sinus infection) which I know can trigger yeast infections. I have had yeast infections before and some have been frightening and painful, but this feels a bit different.... There is no itchiness or discharge, but I have some redness and some concentrated red sores. There is also some pinching feeling on the skin. Does this sound like a herpes outbreak? Should I start taking my acyclovir?

Ten years ago as part of a routine STD testing I tested positive for antibodies to HSV 1 and 2. (herpes type I and II IgG and IgM. HSV-I IgG ab >6. HSV-II IgG ab 4.90. I never have symptoms or outbreaks and if I do, they are so mild I don't notice them. I recently began a relationship with a man. I am a woman. He gets cold sores. We have not had intercourse yet. My NP recommended 400 mg a day of acylovir to reduce shedding.

I was so glad to stop, as the chronic bitter taste in my mouth and the dark tongue went away. Well, now that I have cycled back on, both side effects are back. Yuck.

I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill. My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections???? Thank you.

Sounds like a yeast infection discharge to me; this is NO side effect from the medication in my opinion.

It seemed like the Prilosec just started to take effect and I started having all these side effects. The worst was the zantac where I got the second yeast infection. Luckily urgent care gave me a refill from the one after the antibiotics.

My doctor gave me Norfloxacin 400mg dose twice a day for a yeast infection during my first week of pregnancy wthoutout knowing I was pregnant now that i missed my period and took the pregnancy test which came positive I know that i must have conceived a week before I actually got the thrush and went to the doctor saying I probably had the yeast infection and had passed on to my partner when he gave me Norfloxacin without checking if i was pregnant.

I could be looking at rare side effects, and wala.. I get more of the rare side effects than the common ones, I think... I don't like to pester the doctor all of the time, especially with these "rare" side effects.. I don't mind dealing with side effects as long as they are not permanent! There are some medications that can cause permanent damage, to the eye for example..

) Most Drs are okay with you skipping the office visit and just going to the lab for the UA, and then telling you the symptoms and how to treat a yeast infection if that is what is going on...Also, if you do have yeast, either take probiotic tabs to replenish your good bacteria, or eat yogurt (or anything with acidophilus) with active cultures.
