Sertraline side effects go away

Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline side effects go away

zoloft

Avatar m tn I tend to notice side effects whenever my dosage is adjusted by my prescribing doctor or when I initially start it or taper off of it. I believe that experiencing side effects are two fold with me. One, there were some side effects, and two I probably tended to 'magnify' or focus in on them more intently and decided that any odd feeling was related to the medication when in reality, it may not have been due to the sertraline.
Avatar m tn Vomiting and diarrhea are common side effects of Sertraline. They should start to go away as the days go by. You need to make sure you drink plenty of clear fluids so that you don't become dehydrated. Let me know if things start to get better, stay the same or get worse.
Avatar m tn I lowered the dose (after a month), and these side effects lessened, but never really went compeletely away. Even after compeletely stopping the drug, I still get some mild movements in my limbs and the eyes. However, the real issue for me is that I need to be on medication for the depression (which becomes severe without medication), and now I seem to be sensitive to anything serotonergic(even mirtazapine) and bupropion is also not working well. Is there any other drug I can try?
Avatar f tn Venaflaxine side effects not as bad as Sertraline. Cant remember that I experienced any side effects with Venaflaxine like I did with Serdep.
Avatar m tn I would talk to your prescriber about it. After 1.5 years on it you should be adapted to it by now, so if that's what 's causing it I doubt it'll go away at this point. There are lots of SSRI's out there and it often takes trial and error to find just the right one to treat symptoms without difficult side effects. Your doctor can guide you about trying another.
Avatar f tn s part of the problem -- it takes about 4-6 weeks to notice if a med is going to work or not. Side effects, however, start immediately, because all these meds are artificial to the body. Twitching is a common side effect of antipsychotics, but not so much with antidepressants, but we're all different. It might be a problem with magnesium, as these meds interfere with the absorption of magnesium (and vice versa if taken at the same time).
9475243 tn?1405300275 Sertraline has a higher dose for working than Paxil because the drug are different. Sertraline usually starts its therapeutic dose at 100mg. Some do well at 50. Some are highly sensitive to things and absorb them really well while others don't. It usually takes about 4-6 weeks to notice positive effects, although some do notice them earlier. Side effects, though, start right away.
Avatar n tn However the tremors are still there as well as extreme sweating, and muscle tightness. (I have been on this dose for approximately 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn So, a trial of 6 to 8 weeks of sertraline is what most doctors do. They will stop this if the side effects are unusual or too much. So, do as your doctor says to see if this is related and if it is not, then you can go back. By the way, are you being titrated up in dose?
Avatar f tn As most people taking anti depressants would say it takes 1-2 months to get the benefits and also putting up with possible side effects. I personally had the side effects of extreme tiredness/ lethargy, lack of motivation and slight Nausea. After four weeks I still get anxiety but I'm more in control and it doesn't go 'so deep'. My doctor has recently increased my dose to 100mg and only feeling ok but still have to tiredness.
Avatar f tn 6 days is nothing. It usually takes at least 2 wks for it to really work and side effects to go away, for me at least. For depression it acts quicker, but for anxiety/OCD it takes longer, like 6 weeks. Everyone gets headaches with or without zoloft, so it could just be a natural thing that you're attributing to the zoloft. It is good to be safe... but try toughing it out and giving it 8 weeks.
1709162 tn?1314084832 worse. I stopped taking the sertraline after 7 days as I could.not stand side effects. Taking diazepam did not help. I am shaking and very.scared about the heart thing and do not know what to do. Sorry for the long.post.
612551 tn?1450022175 Talking to myself? Now 8 days on sertraline and still fatigue side effects, an no noticeable reduction in my troubled ruminations. I will go to the full 50 mg on day 10, and if things get no better I'll ask my doctor for advice. Others have told me it takes a couple of weeks, so I should give it at least that long.
1352071 tn?1276904138 Whenever I take medications like Sertraline, I do have a few side effects when I start or adjust the dosage, but they tend to go away in a couple of weeks. I would stress patience and keep an open line of communication open between you and your prescribing doctor...keep us posted!
Avatar f tn We all react differently to medications and we are all able to tolerate side effects differently. If the sertraline works well for your depression/anxiety, it will be up to you personally to decide if you can tolerate the side effect. Just don't give up too quickly. I almost did.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
Avatar f tn You can take pregabalin (Lyrica) and sertraline (Zoloft) together. However, please note there are additive side effects when taking the two together. They both may cause patients to feel tired, dizzy and drowsy. In addition, patients may have impaired mental function and loss of balance. Please avoid driving and drinking alcohol while taking these medications. Here are more information on the 2 medications: 1. Pregabalin (Lyrica) - MedlinePlus http://www.nlm.nih.
Avatar n tn Hello, I've been on Sertraline for over 10 years after being diagnosed with panic disorder and GAD. I've had a couple relapses over the years and had to increase my dosage from 50 to 100 to 150. My latest relapse was earlier this year, and my doctor has put me on 250 mg. The doctor also says I have OCD to my surprise, but it must only be the "O" part because I don't have any compulsive rituals... I just obsess and worry about my health and well being a lot.
Avatar f tn Meds work differently for different people so anything someone else says happened to them might be the opposite of what you experience. Plus side effects often go away with time so aren't a reliable gauge of a med. What do you mean by numbness - mental or physical?
Avatar f tn Give it a few weeks at your highest dose to see if they go away. Most of the time the start-up side effects will subside within a few weeks when your body adjusts. My tremors didn't go away until a couple weeks after I stopped taking Zoloft.
Avatar f tn s the median. Usually it takes 4-6 weeks to notice positive effects for most people, but side effects start right away. In a way, side effects are a good sign, because it means you're metabolizing the med. Most people suffer sedation from ssris other than Prozac, but they can make us feel all kinds of ways as they alter how the brain works and it takes time for the brain to get used to that.
Avatar f tn just try and stay busy as hard as it may seem. distract yourself from these side effects. it helps. if the side effects are really that intolerable then talk to your doc asap. I really hope this med works for you like it has for me. what dosage are you taking?
Avatar f tn I read that anxiety and stuttering are not directly linked and that it might be due to sertraline. Will this go away or will I just have to get on with it, and will this anxiety go away eventually or is it the sertraline causing it? Any ideas would be great please.
Avatar f tn s thru the years (at different times for each), and some were a breeze to start, others had some pretty awful side effects. The good news is...those side effects started improving for me usually by the 2nd week, and once they started getting better, they went away pretty quickly. Hang in there...keep the line of communication open with your doc and of course, we're here for you too!
Avatar f tn And let me add, having been on this site for a long time, this isn't scientific but it seems the drug you're taking might not be the one to start off with, but it does seem to be the one the most people have success with in treating anxiety. Doesn't mean you will, but sometimes side effects go away. Sometimes they don't. The ones you're getting, though, really do need to be discussed ASAP with your psychiatrist.
