Ive been on seroquel and amitriptylne for abt 6 yrs now. They suddenly stopped working so i quit them. Over the last 6 months ive tried every med out there for sleep and nothing has helped. Ive had severe insomnia since i was a child. Anyways ive tried various antipsychotics through my psychiatrist. The most recent one i tried was olanzapine. The thing is, i only took 2 doses and right away i got muscle spasms and tics through my entire body. I came off it.

has peaked lately with the loss of three jobs in one year due to persecutory delusions. four weeks on 2 x 25 mg seroquel (but had to come off due to tremors and thick tounged speech issues, also twitches on face - doc says (by phone)psych team have never seen that on such a low dose so it can't be the medication tho I was taking NOTHING else but me and my GP saw those twitches and tremors alright! ) ..
I started taking 50mg of Seroquel in December for sleep. Shortly after I began to feel as if I couldn't breathe. I went to the ER and they checked me out and told me it was anxiety. So I saw My nurse practitioner and she prescribed Vistaril 50 mg 3x a day. I room it for a week. Still had the same symptoms. I figured out It was The seroquel. I tried to call the nurse but they are never available so I did not do my homework on this med and quit it cold Turkey.
I just started taking the Seroquel starter pack. FIrst 50 mg then 100mg. I wake up ny legs and feet hurt and are very stiff. My back, hip and head hurt. I took it at 9pm and it is 1pm. I still am in a fog. Don't even know how I have managed to take care of my 3 kids. My house is pure mess and I can't find the energy to clean it. Is it worth it? Am I suppose to stick it out and it will get better. Give me a 10mg oxycodone and I am superwoman!
When I was on seroquel I experienced really bad hand tremors and when I was on Depakote my speech became slurred. I've found when I am under a lot of stress I have trouble remembering.
My pdoc advised me to be alert for Tardive Dyskinesia symptoms like facial tics that can be permanent side effects of some psychotropic medications if the medications are not stopped. I have also felt like a zombie when I was over medicated.
A new dr and many many months later, he is only now in a position to get back a part of his life, being psychotic, unemployed, and a danger to him self and others was not enough for his original dr to see seroquel as being the problem. All his ticks, tremors and limb control problems disapeared once the seroquel had been out of his system, oh and all the schizophrenic symptoms are now also gone.
Seroquel is NOT an antidepressant, an atypical antipsychotic med and is NOT appropriate to be used as an insomnia aid, especially when it wasn't Rx'd to you.
You need to see your doctor. Depending on the dose you were taking, you may be in some danger.
This is why you NEVER take meds off other people. Especially with a history of addiction, you're looking to self medicate. Sometimes doing that will lead to very bad things.
A couple of months ago, I started taking a small dose of colloidal gold six days a week, and almost immediately, my vision improved, my hearing returned to normal, and my tremors and walking improved suddenly. (Not coincidentally, I also weaned myself off Wellbutrin at the same time, and I am fairly certain that seriously exacerbated or even caused my tremors.) All was great until Saturday.
Hi Paxiled.... thank you for asking. I am 43 right now and started taking the antidepressants at 19. I have only taken ssris and have hardly had any side effects other than sexual of course. The last one I had was on was Celexa and that was for about 6 years. 2 months ago I had this huge trigger and my mind could not stop ruminating and ruminating and ruminating about it.
I take Seroquel for Bipolar 1. Do you have Bipolar 1 or 2? Welbutrin works good for me when I am depressed. Seroquel knocks me out at night so that I don't get manic and need hospitalization. It's worked for 5 years, but it causes daytime drowsiness and I can't really work or drive much anymore.
When I was on depakote I could hold down 3 jobs and go to college, but it started affecting my liver. Lithium was awful for me, but some people do really well on it.
