Seroquel help with sleep

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel help with sleep

Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!
Avatar m tn After a couple of days I just don't sleep. I also take a 25mg. dose as needed to help with my panic attacks, and anxiety.
Avatar m tn If Seroquel is being prescribed as a sleep aid yes, within a psychiatrist's discretion. If its being used as a mood stabilizer then it would have to be taken every day though the timing could vary. If someone can't tolerate it at all as regards any sedation then other available options could be discussed with a psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn Dr. Doctor: Back in September my doctor gave me Seroquel to help me sleep. I had just gotten on Suboxone and had a hard time sleeping the first couple of nights. I would take a tiny bite out of one pill and be dead to the world within 20 minutes. About three weeks ago I found a website concerning a class action lawsuit against the makers of Serqouel and decided I would stop using same. Now I cannot sleep for nothing. Has this drug messed with my brain chemistry?
Avatar n tn I just got a script from my doc for Seroquel and he says it will help with my sleep and anxiety. But he says it will be about 3-4 days of feeling pretty poor. I am feeling better every day and the last thing i want to do is go through 4 days of feeling like c r a p. I have tried Lunesta, melatonin and benadryl with no luck. However my sleep is non-existant and so badly needed. Should i try the seroquel for a night? I have read pros and cons about it.
Avatar m tn It's still used as a anti-psychotic but at 400-600mg a day, at 100 and less its for sleep. I can't see how it would help with any wd symptoms unless you want to sleep through them. I will make you gain weight if taken daily for a long time.
563541 tn?1257881167 Jen- My psych. Dr gave me seroquel to help me sleep b/c Ambien makes me do crazy things! I take 1 50 mg tablet like 45 min before bed and it makes me completely pass out.
Avatar f tn to sleep, we literally cant sleep for days with seroquel withdrawals. we become INSOMNIACS. the less we eat and the less we sleep... the WORSE our withdrawl symptoms get. sleep as much as possible and in about 4 days, you should be feeling pretty close to normal. Im on day 3 of withdrawal and i feel soooo much better. sleep and food will also make you less emotional and depressed coming off the seroquel. Ive gone through these withdrawals before, i cry, i shake, i get cold sweats.
214255 tn?1205639236 Seroquel is an anti-phys, drug, but some doctors give it to patients for sleep. My husband takes it every night to help him sleep. I have taken it to help me sleep. You may not be able to do anything after you take it. It does make you sleepy and puts you out cold. Don't take it during the daytime or you will act like a zombie. Some people take 25mg. and some take up to 400mg. My husband takes 100mg at a time, but only for sleep. It helps some people to not try and commit suicide.
Avatar n tn my son took seroquel to sleep...along with the other antidepressant he was on. it was his experience that without it, he could not fall asleep. when he decided to come off of it, it took many months before he got a normal sleep pattern back.
736475 tn?1281262927 know my DR would not give me Clonidine for sleep, only Seroquel. Mine must be just regular Seroquel because the lable says they are 50mg & the directions are to "Take 1/2 Tablet PO Nightly at Bedtime". I got 30 for $25 because of our insurance. I wonder if he & I will need to taper? I hope I don't need all 30 before I can sleep??? But I bet he & I will get rebound insomnia when we stop. I hope not.
1168718 tn?1464987135 Waited for 3 days before anyone got back in touch with me, so had no sleep help or pain help at night for that time. Then yesterday that is when he called and said the Seroquel. He has me on a 1/2 pill of 25mgs. dose, because he says that I am sensitive to the drugs. Sometimes I just want to jump off a bridge and get it over with. But, I can't really do that because we have to much to live for. So, now we have to figure out what to do.
Avatar m tn they should be able to help you get some sleep without seroquel. keep on with the taper, best of luck!!
Avatar m tn I need some help with this one.. I really need to know if it will stop the anxiety, restless leg ****, let me fall asleep. Like I said, they gave me 10mg Daiz and it doesn't really help. I have taken Benedryl to try to go to sleep, that won't work. Listen, I need some help here from people who have taken Seroquel before. I don't want to **** anyone off here, but I know a lot about Subox, I have been on it for 5 years, ok.
232264 tn?1191252080 About a year ago I finally got off of them. But I still needed something to help me sleep. So my addiction Dr put me on Rozerem. It did nothing to me! So eventually I went back on the Seroquel, I only take 25 mg now, and it works great for me. I have tried just about every non addictive sleep med. Rimeron, Trazadone, and more that I cannot remember! I like Seroquel the best out of all of them! I have not had any of the side affects that nurse described above.
8520825 tn?1398515060 I'm using Seroquel to help me to sleep. 25mg with trazodone 100mg. It helps. Even though the half-life is only 6 hours I feel a bit light-headed in the morning.
736475 tn?1281262927 I was taking Seroquel for 4 years I was taking it for sleep. I have not been going through withdrawal for about 45 days I am taking two 6.25 and 1/2 mg of Ambien and it's not working I sleep for about 4 hours a night. I was giving this medication strictly for sleep I had no clue it was for other things until another doctor told me. I was taking only 50 mg and I cut it down to 25 myself because I was trying to get off of it I don't really like taking drugs.

Avatar f tn will seroquel effect women sexually? i have searched the internet with no luck. i would be interested to hear other side effects as well. also, if anyone would like to tell me their experiences (both good and bad) with the drug i would really appreciate it. thanks in advance.
518117 tn?1429279873 Namaste, Explanation of the issues (and sequence of events) surrounding the lawsuits that claim that the use of Seroquel, Zyprexa and Risperdal caused health problems such as pancreatitis and diabetes and stroke. Zyprexa, like Risperdal and Seroquel, has been associated with serious side effects in patients, especially those who have already been diagnosed with diabetes.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if it is common, or even known, if doctors prescribe Seroquel or it's generic brand for help with sleep (versus the standard Ambien, etc. and other 170 different OTC and RX that are available). I did not see Seroquel on the list and see that it is mainly for manic depression/ biopolar disorder, etc. Thanks.
1349329 tn?1276988802 My Dr. has prescribed a low dose of Seroquel for me to help with sleep while I'm detoxing. I did an internet search for information and found a website that sells this Medication and you don't need a prescription. I'm going copy and past what it says about how to take it etc., Read everything it says, it is "Totally Crazy." Drug Name Seroquel (Quetiapine) Drug Uses Seroquel is masterpiece for treating schizophrenia or bipolar boisterousness.
Avatar m tn You can get some info here and follow up with the professionals, just don't take what is here for granted. I know nothing about Seroquel beyond what I posted from the link, but one medical drug site said it wasn't a good drug to take for insomnia although many docs prescribe it - you have to discuss this with doc if you want more info though.
Avatar m tn , at bedtime, and they want to taper me off xanax..Terrifies me!! I'm it all together seroquel makes me sleep like a bear, and I do seem calmer the next day..Way different calm than xanax. Also on 3 blood pressure meds., and paxil 40mg. Help!!
1965148 tn?1354982234 First, the sleepiness you get and second, the weight issue. I've been taking Seroquel for about a year for insomnia and yes, you do sleep the sleep of the dead. The first night I took it my boyfriend said he actually got a mirror and put it under my nose to see if I was still breathing.(haha). And also, when I first started taking I gained 15 lbs. After I realized I was getting fat I told my psychiatrist to take me off the Seroquel IMMEDIATELY.
1305767 tn?1361196276 I have been taking this medication for 14 years to help with my insombia I cant sleep with out it.
917008 tn?1251227579 so, trying to cover all the bases (impossible), I know I can p/u one of these at a clinic with the right story ... Anyone used Seroquel for sleep? I'm quite resistant to benzos, and I'm aware of the pharmacology of "atypical anti-psychotics". Thanks. My cat thanks you as well.
Avatar n tn perhaps ur dr was also trying to help anxiety during the day as well as help u to him about the sleep issue as he can change things for u as needed..communication with ur DR is a great idea right now...this may not apply to u but anyone with a tolerence to benzos will have a fast tolerence to sleep meds what was ur dose of methadone? how long have u been narcotic free...just askin? how do u feel? I just always get a bit nervous when someone stops one narcotic to go on another..
Avatar f tn These meds can disrupt our sleep cycles because they affect the quality of sleep and the quality of our dream sleep. Seroquel is particularly sedating, so it's natural you might have a rebound effect. You can also try Calm's Forte, a homeopathic remedy. I wouldn't recommend the ambien, it's another strong drug, and eventually you'll just adjust to it, too, and it also disturbs natural sleep rhythms. Melatonin, on the other hand, resets your natural body clock, so give it a try.
425312 tn?1279969779 i dont have an answer for that question, but some one should be along to help you with that. i have taken xannex but never seroquel..have you tried to google the drug and see if it a side effect. stick around hopefully someone will help.
