1349329 tn?1276985202 My Dr. has prescribed a low dose of Seroquel for me to help with sleep while I'm detoxing. I did an internet search for information and found a website that sells this Medication and you don't need a prescription. I'm going copy and past what it says about how to take it etc., Read everything it says, it is "Totally Crazy." Drug Name Seroquel (Quetiapine) Drug Uses Seroquel is masterpiece for treating schizophrenia or bipolar boisterousness.
1029865 tn?1252418538 what is the base dose for seroquel to treat bi polar disorder. 50 mg knocks me out.
574118 tn?1305135284 I have been taking seroquel for years. my dose fluctuates between 50 and 300. I noticed that below 100 I get into depression. my question: is it true that one has to to take at least 100 mg for depression?
Avatar m tn Seroquel is a serious drug for serious mental illness. It was illegally marketed by the manufacturer (who has been fined and sued successfully for this) for just about everything. So this isn't a drug I would take for sleep (taking any drug for sleep can be a problem long-term, so I hope you're looking for the solution and not just relying on medication) given the strong side effect profile of drugs intended to treat psychosis.
574118 tn?1305135284 ve been taking seroquel for anxiety and sertraline for depression for quite a few years. I used to be on 100mg a day of seroquel and my phciatrist had said that some people can be on 400/500mg (and even more than this) of this tablet and function fine/not be tired/dozy etc where as for other people lower does can be really good aswell and sometimes can be even more beneficial.
Avatar f tn Seroquel has now worked for 3 nights of sleep. I take clonazapam and lamtrogine. What could I add as decrease 1 of these? Is tegretol a good choice? Long ago I took lithium, but ballooned up in weight. Suggestions to discuss w/my doctor?
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Seroquil for a sleep-aid for a while, but it made me sleep forever and still be tired and apathetic the next day. I took Ambien for a couple years, but took myself off of it because I can get impulsive and overdose. Ambien is kind of addictive. I've always been interested in Lunesta since it's non-narcotic but my insurance wouldn't cover it. Have you tried over-the-counter sleep aids?
447130 tn?1225470866 Afetr being on 100mg of Seroquel at night for about a month now, my sleep is back to normal and the seroquel is making me feel better, keeping depression at bay. I've been through a rough 2 weeks with some personal things and I came through like a champ. I don't need Restoril or Ambien anymore and I have adjusted to Seroquel so my doc wants me on it for a bit longer. He explained sleep is crucial to bipolar disorder and ordered my on the Seroquel until otherwise notified.
Avatar n tn Seroquel is not a sleep medication and is not commonly prescribed for sleep as a result. Very few doctors prescribe it for sleep because there is no evidence that it has any positive effect on sleep and it can have powerful side effects. Dr.
1255936 tn?1296623461 What is the dose for treatment of such disorders and not just a low dose for sleeping? I hear 25mg is really not high enough to be effective for GAD or anything else other than a sleeping aid (why anyone would take a anti-psych for a sleep aid is beyond me). I hear that 200-300 mg is the dose for treating GAD, BP, and depression. I will be seeing my doc tomorrow to discuss increasing the dosage. Any input from anyone on the "front lines" would be awesome! Cheers!
Avatar m tn I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!
809366 tn?1238749581 I had problems sleeping and my pdoc put me on ambien, then lunesta then to valium which none worked so now he put me on 50mg of seroquel this made me sleep and then some. I am feeling like I am drugged and scared to take the next dose and scared not to as well. My pdoc is new to me and never gave an emergency number, he will not be back in his office till tuesday and also this coupled with my lexapro put me in a mixed state and feeling slighty suicidal this happens when I cycle rapidly.
Avatar m tn I've read and read and talked and talked and even personally experimented with my own seroquel dosing. I'm a card carrying bipolar and typical of such folk have tried everything out there in pharm-world alone and in combination. For me, Seroquel is the ticket. I have one problem. A few years ago I made a move to a more healthy lifestyle which includes diet, exercise, yoga, and meditation - all good things. I even went back to work.
Avatar f tn My Dr has me on Sinequan. Sinequan for sleep???? It isnt even helping the anxiety attacks let a long putting me to sleep. And everytime I go back for appt they just increase the dose. Why cant they give me a real sleeping pill like Sonata?? I am very frustrated and getting pretty crabby cause Im soooo sleepy!! I dont even want to be around myself right now let along others.
Avatar f tn I agree with nursegirl, it is only okay to take seroquel for sleep if a doctor says its okay which sometimes they do, but only in small ammounts like 25 mg I am on seroqu 400 mg right now, and awhile back I was suddenly taken off of it and suffered miserably for days. I would say its withdrawel, I was on 400mg at the time I was taken off it, so mine might of been different than yours. Seroquel can be addictive for those who dont need it,so all you were doing is beginning another addiction!!!
Avatar n tn Never heard the turm " dusting " I take 100mgs. of seroquel @ bedtime + 2 one mg. mealotion, mainly for sleep but truthfully the next day benifits from the seroquel was a surprise.Pleasant. There is a extended release form that may work better for you and you might not feel so sluggish the next day. I would talk it over with my pdoc. and see what else is out there, before you loose too much sleep.
766412 tn?1234893283 When I was taking seroquel, (quetiapine), I found it to be a really stabilising drug, I didn't have any real extremes of mood, and weirdly, never cried. My only problems were that I got very tired at times, and often got cramps in my legs, but after awhile taking it those things became less harsh. Good luck with it.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with bipolar a month ago. The pdoc has been working with the dosage of Lamictal. I went up to 150 mg but had severe swelling. He put me on 50 mg on Tuesday. I have not slept well in weeks. I have had an especially hard time since I dropped down, getting only about three hours a night. I can't function on that little sleep. The doc gave me 25 mg of seroquel. I used it last night and slept much better. Is sleep always going to be a problem with bipolar meds?
16773127 tn?1451336964 I suffer from bi-polar and sleep disorders. My dr. prescribed many different things and nothing worked until the dosage of Seroquel was up to 600mg per night. Even at this dose I'm not sleeping more than 2 hours at a time. My weight has soared from 130 to 195 over the past couple of years.
574118 tn?1305135284 seroquel 600mg/day olanzapine 20mg/day risperidone 6mg/day ______________ this makes 1mg risperidone=100 seroquel. The above chart is right because I know well that olanzapine dose is 5-20mg so 20 is max therapeutic dose. Also for seroquel max is 600 (and never exceed 900). Which also means don't exceed 6 for risperidione. So i concluded that my dose can be considered either 2mg of risperidone or 200mg seroquel so in fact it isn't huge i suppose. Hope i was clear this time.
Avatar f tn My Dr. gave me seroquel 25mg to take before bed to sleep. Before this i was taking xanax .25 for panic attics, which I took the xanax 3 x a day. So the Dr. said replace the 3rd xanax with the seroquel 25mg before be d to seep how it works. OK i start taking Seroquel Fri night. Sat. i feel tired a little out of it and feel like I'm gonna have a panic attack. I say OK it probably just the meds getting into me. sun feel the same way. Mon.
Avatar f tn Big weight gainer for me, all I craved were sweets.I found the higher the dose the worse. It seems alot of the anti psychotics I've tried have had things effect. I hope you success!
Avatar f tn You were at an extremely high dose of Seroquel, did you take seroquel in the day as well? Definitely try spreading out the dose. If you still having sleep issue, you might want to try Trazadone, it's not an addictive drug, and it makes you sleep like the dead. I also sleep with a wedge pillow for reflux, but I'm told it's good for snoring too! Some folks just have RLS which hs nothing to do with the meds you are on.
563541 tn?1257877567 i was in same boat....doc sent me home with script for seroquel....i took it in hospital, didn't help me sleep one bit....but also, after reading up more on it, didn't like what was said about the drug....so i never got the script filled after getting home and i don't regret it....yes, i still have problems sleeping, but the seroquel didn't help me with that issue anyway, so why take it? i'm not sure about helping with depression, etc.
Avatar f tn I take Seroquel for sleep and it does make you so groggy during the day. I hate it but it got better after a couple weeks on it. I only take 100mg. and always at bedtime. I don't think the docs use it as a 1st treatment, it's usually a supplement to some other drug like lamictal. Hang tight, you should be able to ask your doc to put you on something else until you build up your lamictal dose.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi you, I really appreciate the support and concern from all the members on this site, which is why I keep coming back. I am relatively new here, with only 42 posts, but I do like it and take to heart the comments made by people that have or are in the same situation as me. It is so hard though, I care about people like you, and that was and is my role in life. I was a nanny foar 28 years, and we fostered and cared for sexually abused and emotionally abused kids.
1134609 tn?1269272200 However, the normal Seroquel seems to help as a PRN; it evens me out a little and has helped me sleep as I have had an unusual bout of insomnia over the past few days. I just can't take the XR version of the medication. And, we'll have to see about the normal version, it might cause some problems as well. The Lamictal and Neurontin (1600mgs) have been the best medications for me and we'll play around with those dosages until we find a good mix.
