Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel and invega

seroquel

Avatar f tn the other 3 I cant remember but it made me feel so doped up I switched docs and and she put me on 2 celexa and zyprexa and they have worked wonderful for me. No dopey drugged feeling. Just nice stable everyday normal living. Its seems to me that alot of docs tend to overprescribe when all is need for bi polar is a good mood stabilizer and a good anti depressant I could be wrong since I am not a doc . I am just a bi polar (in remission lol)who has been on alot of meds.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I have come off a few different anti psychotics before with no real problems apart from insomnia, but with the Seroquel I don't think you will have that problem..
663901 tn?1232653271 Yes when I was on Seroquel I had to get an eye exam each year due to the extremely rare risk of cataracts but I saw an opthamologist anyway so it was no big deal. That is statisically rare and no reason to be concerned about Seroquel and a check up as I suggested is the best form of follow up. Seroquel is safe in this regard. In this case (you know I am always factual) your pharmacist was overstating the risk but a follow up visit is generally a good idea.
Avatar n tn I have been on and off Seroquel for almost 4 years. Other than some serious weight gain (60 lbs. in 14 months), the effects for me were nothing short of a miracle - suffering from Cyclothymia (lower level Bipolar, mood disorder, hypomania and acute insomnia), this was a miracle drug for me. I had tried all of the regular suspects: lamictal, topamax, trileptal, trazedone, geodon, invega (which caused a pituitary mass/tumor), etc. the Seroquel was what worked.
1985196 tn?1402193698 I guess i was just wondering and curious about Ablify and Invega , I have two friends that are on these medications and both say they both work really well and don't have the weight gain or impulsive eating . Any information or feed back would be much appreciated ...thanks.
605458 tn?1539232408 I used to take regular Seroquel with no sexual side effects. I was recently changed to Seroquel XR and the side effects are so different than regular Seroquel, and one of them is sexual side effects. Anyone else? The other new med I am on is Amitiza, which is for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and didn't have sexual side effects listed. I have been under a lot of new stress lately, but that has never caused this problem in the past.
1021784 tn?1306366611 Seroquel, Risperdal, Saphris, Invega, Geodon, Abilify I'm allergic to the medication Thorazine. I'm wondering if it's possible to be able to take Clozaril and Zyprexa together to help control my symptoms of Schizoaffective Disorder - Bipolar Subtype?
Avatar m tn hello, i am diagnosed with schizophrenia and am on 4 medications: lamictal, invega, geodon and wellbutrin. my doctor (who is supposedly very good) just added adderal because i have adhd and it will help me focus. Ive read that adderal isnt good for patients with schizo-affective disorder. should i be conscerned?
Avatar f tn I just switched from seroquel to invega & I'm paranoid about not being able to sleep. My doc seems to think that calming my thoughts will help me fall asleep; he's not recognizing my long standing insomnia. He gave me trazodone, but so far, no good....any suggestions? I'd taken it before for insomnia & I don't remember it working then. Next up, vistaril...anyone else w/ bipolar & insomnia?
Avatar m tn I currently take serax, seroquel, invega for hullicinations, and divaproex for epilepsy. Note that there were no other symptoms, and the transient blindness has not reoccured. However, I had a severe bought of auditory hullucinations April 2011, and was given Invega. Also, I last had an eye exam October 2011 with an Optometrist. What could be the cause? The medicine, neurological disorder or something else? This is what happened. Blindness – three times when I woke up in the morning.

However, I had a severe bought of auditory hullucinations April 2011, and was given Invega. Also, I last had an eye exam October 2011 with an Optometrist. My blood sodium has been low in the past which is in part responsible for my past seizures, AND the medicine for my past hallucinations did not work very well.
Avatar f tn I have been on serquel 200 at bed time for the last 6 months to treat bipolar and i was wondering how long more should i stay on serquel to be good. Along with serquel, im taking invega 3 mg and escitalopram 5 mg, so what are the possible complections or side effects arising from the componation?
Avatar n tn i take lithium, prestic and seroquel. recently i had two grand mal seizures; the worst kind and was in the hospital for 10 days. they put me on restraints, was in icu and 5 other days in neurology. i had a a ct, mri and spinal tap. the hospital took me off prestic, seroquel and lithium and the neurologist put me on lamital for both seizures and depression. also, i am taking invega and ativan for anxiety. the reason for my seizures is because of medicine.
Avatar n tn Hi there: I'm taking a very low dose of both Seroquel and Invega. I have been on Seroquel for a couple of years but the Invega is new. About 3 weeks I have been on Invega. The combination is working very well for me and my mood is great so far. I am packing on the pounds though. I quit smoking back in October and have already gained 25 pounds from that. Over the last few weeks, I have gained another 6 pounds. I'm pretty positive it's the medication.

Finally, in the past my blood sodium was low. I take salt twice daily to prevent help seizure in addition to medicine..

Avatar m tn I take various meds like xanax, propranolol, invega, seroquel xr, benstropene, and fish oil. so its pretty serious. just recently ive been hearing mysterious taps on glass, malevolent auras, and varous objects moving by themselves. If it was chemical it would be gone, but it scares me every night and i'm getting even less sleep and im afraid for my life and my family's too. i need some way to cure this because i think its a dark entity that stalks me.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am 47 years old and female. Since Feb. 2008, 4 days after I was given Invega (3mg) and stayed on 2.5 mg. Abilify; my right arm swang out to my side involuntarily and my eyelids blinked extremely rapidly. About 3 mos. later I was given 6 mg. Invega and 25mg. Zoloft. Then the blepharospasms increased. Now it is more of an eyelid weakness. I went back on Abilify, had trouble and went off. Then my eyes stayed open for 6 days. Then I tried seroquel and the BEB returned.
Avatar f tn However if a person doesn't respond to one medication they can respond to a different one as each person responds differently to each medication. The other atypicals are Risperdal, Invega, Seroquel and Zypexa. The two newest atypical antipsychotics that work like Abilify are Saphris and Fanapt.
Avatar n tn kept hounding her to make out with him. She put him on ignore and that upset him. Several months go by and she takes him off ignore where he tells her to go die. She takes this to seriously and almost trys to kill herself but either he gave her his cell phone number or she gave hers to him so he could talk her out of it and fix things. After that she started to like him as a bit more then a friend. She meets one of his friends online.
1895346 tn?1321309444 There are a lot of atypical antipsychotics such as risperadol, invega, you've tried seroquel, geodone, ziprexa (although weight gain and cost are a factor) and abilify (cost may be a factor). There are also the mood stabilizers such as lamotrigine and depakote that may be useful. Lamotrigine is an easy one because it doesn't need blood tests. Make sure you titrate up slowly as it can cause a rash that can be fatal (although that is very very very rare) and titrating up seems to prevent that.
Avatar m tn reactions to Siroquel and Respridal but lessor reaction to Invega and so far no adverse reaction to Abilify. If these medication target different imbalances (better word?) is there a class or distinction between them so that we can narrow field of what works vs using some other medication that is basically the same path as what was previously used?
5509687 tn?1369721731 I have tried Haldol, Zyprexa, Abilify, Seroquel, Risperdal, and Invega. I have had severe allergic reactions and over 50lbs./almost 75 lbs. in weight gain. I have always been very active physically and kept my diet healthy (well-rounded, home-cooked meals, avoid sugar and junk food. plus doing 50-150 sit-ups every night for last 6 weeks, with no change). I am only 5'3" and approaching 200 lbs. Just trying to figure out... what else I can do to lose weight?
Avatar f tn I started 5 Mgs of zyprexa about 5 days ago for psychosis, mostly "ideas of reference" the zyprexa is now added to my seroquel since I weaned off invega. So far, I am having less ideas of reference but not totally gone. Didn't expect a miracle in taking it less than a week. Can anyone please let me know their experience with zyprexa. How long it took to work and how it helped you. I would appreciate any advice and information on it.
574118 tn?1305138884 As for what doctor jones says, well you could ask him but actually he has multiple drugs there .
Avatar f tn The atypicals are Risperdal, Seroquel, Zyprexa, Geodon, Invega and Abilify. However, until the new antipsychotics such as the glutamate antagonists like I'm on are approved as medications these are the only medically availiable options and people should stay in treatment but since Clozaril is available that can and should be used if a person develops tardive conditions.
603015 tn?1329866573 Any medication that is taken twice a day is because it has a short half life (time it lasts) so if you miss the morning dose or evening dose you will feel it. Some medications have extended release versions such as Seroquel, and Invega which is basically an extended release version of Risperdal. But with Depakoate and lithium from what I remember of them they are almost always given twice a day so that's why you would feel the effect.
Avatar n tn I was wondering where the best place for me would be to find a complete list of medicines I should stay away from with Long QT syndrome. I have a list but it is over 5 years old, and I am in need of a new one! Thank You!
Avatar m tn But in 2 years I was on paxil, depakote, wellubtrin, seroquel, geodon, abilify, risperdal, invega, xyprexa, clozaril, ativan, clonadpin, clonadin, ambien, neurontin, so its a lot. I am seeing my surgeon this thursday. If I get a really common sense answer than I will just have to accept the fact the computer is causing too many problems for me, and I will simply have to stop using it.
Avatar f tn My daughter used to be on Resperidal and gained lots of weight. Then the docotr put her on invega and just found out it is in the same family as resperdal. no wonder she keeps gaining weight. These doctors only look at well the bipolar is under control but don't worry about if you could get diabetes or if the weight could hurt your heart. We are looking for a different doctor because hers won't discuss changing meds and her ADHD med isn't working anymore. She is on staterra.
