Avatar n tn In addition, zinc deficiency, which is sometimes seen with hypothyroidism can cause issue with the sense of smell. Hypothyroidism can also affect taste, as can zinc deficiency. There are imaging studies that can be done to test for abnormalities, but treatment, is, typically, zinc replacement or reduction in dosage of whichever medication might be causing the problem.

Avatar f tn There are so many reasons for low serotonin but you have already listed one reason - vitamin D deficiency. Find the underlying cause of serotonin deficiency and you no longer have to suffer the possible side effects of the drugs. My main reason for severe depression was due to severe vitamin B12 deficiency (just to add vitamin B12 and folate deficiency are causes of low platelet count too).
Avatar m tn OCD is a symptom of serotonin deficiency. I know this from experience having had severe serotonin deficiency myself from severe vitamin B12 deficiency and OCD was one of my long list of symptoms. "The low blood serotonin and tryptophan levels in TS (tourette's syndrome] are consistent with the wide range of behavioral disorders seen in TS and suggest tryptophan oxygenase as a possible candidate gene." - Blood serotonin and tryptophan in Tourette syndrome. Avatar m tn I went to every kind of specialist and they all told me in appeared to be neurological of a zinc deficiency. But blood test showed no zinc deficiency? Finally all docs pointed fingers at the other doc, no resolution and they gave up. years later I have bad shaking hands, have to hold a glass with two hands to drink and still periodically have major muscle spasm where my head will snap to one side or the other with no warning? During the months of testing we found out I had Hep C.
Avatar n tn I read from some others about biotin, selenium and zinc. So I will give the lamactil a try and see if I avoid this awful side affect. Thanks for your comments.

Avatar f tn Was then prescribed anti-seizure meds in which i did NOT take, but found another neuro.... since it is unlikely that an abnormality on my right side of the brain is causing symptoms on the right side of my body..... New neuro ordered VEP (normal) Cspine MRI (normal) and blood work for Cytomegalovirus, sjrogen's, and zinc levels. (still dont have results - although I personally dont think its any of those) my question is... do my symptoms sound like possible early MS?

581210 tn?1220838380 Then he said that if it isn't a tumor, he will have no answer, but maybe it could be a Zinc deficiency. This neurologist is a pain specialist. So, for the pain, the neurologist prescribed Vicodin, and I had to sign a pink slip that in some way is supposed to prevent people from abusing narcotics. I don't know how long the pink paper rule has been out, but it wasn't the last time I got an Rx for Vicodin (for migraines that I never refilled as it didn't seem to help much.
Avatar f tn Thanks for all of your suggestions. I am not actually anxious about switch to the new GF diet or even dealing with doctors, but I am referring to just daily anxiety disorder -- to the point where I always feel as though I am on the verge of a panic attack. It is awful & really affecting my life (marriage, friends, job). I have been on the GF diet for 6 months & had kind of hoped for quicker results, but I guess they will come with time.
6815927 tn?1395515025 I feel wiped out, anxious and very restless, my legs keep twitching non stop (I have been taking magnesium and zinc as well). My joint pain has been an issue, not sure if it is the arthritis or withdrawal. My doctor gave me clonidine but I don't know if it helps, I only took it once--I heard it looses its effectiveness after continual use. I did talk to her on Tuesday about gabepentin, she was reluctant to start too many things at one time (gabepentin and clonidine).
Avatar m tn Of course i'm not saying it will work for all of you, but i have noticed it works for me. I take 2 zinc and magnesium tablets before bed at night. I am now able t relax and don't seem to have any vibrating when i remember to take them. Magnesium i believe needs zinc to help it be absorbed(correct me if i am wrong) Magnesium also absorbs metals in the body and helps them be excreted.
499534 tn?1328707778 I don't know much about the actual virus itself and what symptoms to look for. Someone should post those here too. As for boosting your immune system - WAY FOR SURE - zinc - VitC - and wash wash wash your hands. Working in a school - you can bet those kids will be getting a talking too!
Avatar f tn I went on the Spiderman ride and the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride to shut my family up and had to close my eyes during the rides for fear that the strobe lights would cause me to go into a seizure or just make me extremely ill (I've never had a seizure that I'm aware of; I realize not all seizures are grand mal, but it's a constant fear). When I got off the HP ride, it felt like the room was spinning, and it took me a long time to feel slightly better.
Avatar n tn My cardiologists is knowledgeable in the mineral deficiency possiblity, yet I am on meds AND minerals. I have posted a question here yesterday regarding Arrhythmias and treatment side effects. I will pursue more supplementation of the minerals. I am not taking K at home, but they gave me LARGE oral doses in the hospital this past August. I tell you all, it is very tough to deal with something wacky going on with your has robbed me of joy....and JOY is what our heart's need.

665881 tn?1248930597 Most likely your symptoms could be due to peripheral neuropathy such as injury to a nerve, pressure on spinal/peripheral nerves (neuropathy),diabetic or alcoholic neuropathy, vitamin deficiency ( esp. 724734 tn?1230944872 I was convinced for almost a month that I had neurological lyme disease but my doctor will not treat me with doxycyline because me western blot tests came back negative (no bands at all for both IgG and IgM). Im hoping it is just the vitamin D deficiency. I am thinking about doing the candida diet for a month which also detoxes the body naturally which can help make you feel better. Everyone who is having mind fog should have their vitamins tested!
Avatar n tn I think we could be experiencing some type of epileptic seizure, which only manifest itself when the brain is the sleeping mode. The sleep study will clear this one up. Just think how colorful things will be once your sleep study is conducted, and the answers start to pour in. Just a few more days--hang in there, my friend—Good luck—Please keep in touch. Bobito.
Avatar n tn It is true that opiate withdraw rarely includes seizing, UNLESS, you already have a low seizure threshhold. So, if you have a seizure disorder and you are detoxing at home from opiates it is a good idea to have some anti seizure medication around. Take it as soon as you start to feel 'strange'.
Avatar n tn It has hepled ,but the hair loss is still realy bad ! The dematologist said eat more protein, I have and that has not helped.I take Biotin and zinc every day .I have tried different shampoos . good luck!
Avatar n tn Some conditions that I can think of (though cannot fully explain what you are experiencing) are Vitamin D and Calcium deficiency that can weaken the bones, or it can be a normal anatomic variant. In some persons, the fontanelles (the skull openings when we were babies), fail to calcify and close that can lead to this deformity (this is very rare). So I suggest you consult your doctor and hope you get a good explanation. Regards..
Avatar n tn One of the symptoms of a B 12 deficiency is a burning sensation due to nerve damage. If the deficiency goes for a long time, the damage is irreversible. I started B 12 shots last week and am praying this is the cure I am looking for. I truly hope this info will help all of you also.
