Avatar f tn Having headaches that I cannot easily medicate. I am trying to avoid taking any anti-inflammatories and painkillers. I know that anti-seizure medication can affect the blood platelet levels, however I have not taken my Lamictin for nearly two months (cost and unemployed). I have never had an issue with my medication being : Lamictin (200mg d&n) ; Serlife (100mg n) ; Molipaxin (50mg n) ; Wellbutrin XL 300 (m) and Verahexal SR 240.

Avatar n tn Studies have found that the long-term use of seizure medications in women with seizure disorders is associated with menstrual and infertility problems. However, your dose of tegretol may be low enough to cause significant menstrual and infertility abnormalities. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn If you're having neuromuscular symptoms such as stiffness and weakness, a formal neurological exam and possibly an EMG (which checks the nerves and muscles) would be very helpful in further characterizing the problem. There are some muscular disorders that affect the GI tract. If you're having trouble getting a neruo referral, there are some simple lab tests that your doc can order such as electrolytes, CBC, and muscle enzymes such as CK, aldolase and a marker of muscle metabolism=lactate.
Avatar f tn The large-scale Nurses' Health Study done by Harvard Medical School researchers discovered that women who ate at least two portions of low-fat dairy foods were 85% more likely to experience ovulatory disorders Numerous studies have indicated that seminal oxidative stress has a very significant negative effect on male fertility.
483814 tn?1214315080 As with other quinolones, levofloxacin should be used with caution in patients with known or suspected central nervous system disorders that may predispose them to seizures or lower the seizure threshold. Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD) has been reported with the use of nearly all antibacterial agents, including levofloxacin. If diarrhea occurs, evaluate for CDAD and treat appropriately.
Avatar n tn Anticonvulsants/Mood Stabilizers These drugs were initially used only for seizure disorders. The following anticonvulsants are now prescribed frequently in the treatment of bipolar disorder and other selected forms of depression: * Carbamazepine (Tegretol®) * Divalproex (Depakote®) * Gabapentin (Neurontin®) * Lamotrigine (Lamictal®) * Topiramate (Topamax®) Hello. I am doing some homework, I read this...
Avatar n tn My girlfriend that actually called the ambulance said that i was fitting and having a sort of seizure perhaps this would explain the aching muscles? hhaving said that they have been very sore with no signs of improvement for almost 4 days now does anyone know of what this is .. is it simply tired muscles from fitting?
Avatar n tn Maybe you are being seen by a specialist in taste and smell disorders, though, and I should not be concerned. Such disorders are still quite poorly understood, which makes me worry on your behalf that someone who is not an expert in that area is trying to treat you, and with a powerful drug, no less. Please pick and choose among my comments, using what is useful and regarding the rest. I wish you all the best!
Avatar f tn About a year later they came out with results of a test showing people who have seizure disorders should not take SJW. To which I said DUH.

Avatar n tn I don't know much about neurontin except is it an anticonvulsant and is used for seizure disorders such as epilepsy how and why it works for seizures is a mystery to me...has your Doc. ever tried Lithium since you have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder? I don't know i left nursing am few years ago, so much has happened.
Avatar m tn I have bad panic attacks, bad head rushes whenever I get up from low blood pressure, bad OCD, occasional anxiety depression and I even had a seizure when I was 17. I am now 20. One of my parents is a neurologist with similar symptoms (although mine are, in many areas, worse) and has worked out what is going on. The answer is to do with dopamine (and serotonin etc) and adrenaline (inc.noradrenaline). Essentially, these chemicals are put out by your body.
Avatar f tn I went on the Spiderman ride and the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride to shut my family up and had to close my eyes during the rides for fear that the strobe lights would cause me to go into a seizure or just make me extremely ill (I've never had a seizure that I'm aware of; I realize not all seizures are grand mal, but it's a constant fear). When I got off the HP ride, it felt like the room was spinning, and it took me a long time to feel slightly better.
Avatar n tn It's never a good idea to stop your seizure meds. Ultram will definitely lower your seizure threshold (making the possibility of having a seizure far more likely) and opiates in general can lower the seizure threshold, in fact, my very first seizure was when I was hooked up to a PCA (patient controlled analgesia - demerol) and had snuck outside for a cigarette. It was an ugly site, what with my head bleeding and my my lovely locks shorn off for the stitches.
Avatar m tn Of course i'm not saying it will work for all of you, but i have noticed it works for me. I take 2 zinc and magnesium tablets before bed at night. I am now able t relax and don't seem to have any vibrating when i remember to take them. Magnesium i believe needs zinc to help it be absorbed(correct me if i am wrong) Magnesium also absorbs metals in the body and helps them be excreted.
1139187 tn?1355710247 Xanax works much faster and doesn't stay in the body nearly as long. Clonazepam is also used for seizure disorders as well as anxiety/panice, whereas xanax is used for anxiety and panic. Careful Bruce.
1322872 tn?1275105462 Risk of convulsions may also increase in patients with epilepsy, those with a history of seizures, or in patients with a recognized risk for seizure (such as head trauma, metabolic disorders, alcohol and drug withdrawal, CNS infections). In tramadol overdose, naloxone administration may increase the risk of seizure.

Avatar n tn In simple terms I think the theory means that the more times an epileptic seizure occurs, the more likely it will occur in the future. The nervous pathway is facilitated each time that the pathway is used. Eventually, the nervous reflex becomes habituated. Kindling is also applied to other brain and nervous system problems including depression. Kindling applied to PVCs and PACs may provide an understanding of why the frequency of PVCs and PACs tends to get worse over time in some people .
665881 tn?1248930597 just normal body withdrawal similar to what happens with MANY medications (ie) Zoloft, anti-seizure meds etc. Body line, my pain doc decided to taper my Lyrica down to 50 mgs. and within 5 days my body started stinging here, there and tiny bees...It can start the corner of my eye, under my armpit, in my vagina, my thigh, inner toe etc...gets VERY intense for a day or so, weakens for another several days, almost disappears, then restarts again.
2065348 tn?1331078807 the fight to get better can diminish. but there is hope. many people ave these kinds of disorders, thebest thing to remember is that you're not alone. it's been a tough year battling with depersonalization and derealization plus the given anxiety, but your hope must be preserved! i wish you the best!
Avatar n tn It is kind-of scary that the side effect to worry about is a seizure, but I honestly think that there has to be more withdrawal symtoms than that. My face feels numb for about a week after I cut my clonazepam down and then I feel ok until I do it again, but it is just a horrible feeling! Do you have any symptoms when you don't take it? I have looked at several web sites and there are not really any listed. My Dr. tells me that it will cause body aches but that is about it.
867787 tn?1318939830 They have put me on anti-seizure medication that stopped the arm fromcurling up, but I consistently have the pain/electric-type sensation that usually precedes the weird movements. I have wondered about carpel tunnel syndrome, or something else.... My neuro says it is seizures.... any thoughts?
Avatar m tn It can also deplete certain vitamins from hair and nails too so if you think it may be the cause start taking selenium and zinc. And then benadryl or vistiril may help if there is any inflamation of the hair follicles. It may also help the neurontin to work better at smaller doses. The vistiril in particular may help too if you decide to taper.I dont know if this is whats happening to you but it is a pretty good possibility.
Avatar f tn The doctors still say all test are normal. I have been taking biotin for about 4 weeks and zinc. I have been so scaredto lose all my hair at 32 to stop migraines. Thank You everyone and GOOD LUCK!i still take my 200 mg a day .I just wonder if when you go off ,if the hair loss stops.
