Ribavirin missed dose

Common Questions and Answers about Ribavirin missed dose

Avatar n tn a few hours does not really matter, although my doc told me that if I missed a dose, not to worry about it, but to resume my evening dose at regular dose (not to double up). Layla has a great idea about keeping extra pills with you just in case. You may want to give your doc a call just to ease your mind.
Avatar n tn Ok just blame it on being distracted! I usally take my ribavirin in the morning (at work) and at dinner (at home) I didn't realize it but I was one pill short (I take 6 a day) this morning at work. Make it up at dinner or not or not is the quesiton. Dare I ask the next question? Has anyone ever felt better while on treatment then before treatment. I know from what I read here a crazy quesiton. But I would swear that I felt better on Saturday (finishing week 7 of tx) then I have in a long time.
Avatar f tn It was my last pen and can't get a new one until Monday. Today is Friday. Will I be able to take dose on Monday? Do I still take the ribavirin pills since I missed the dose? After 4 weeks I was tested and no virus was showing so I am worried that this is going to be a set back. I am anemic as well. Just need to know what to do??? Hep clinic closed for weekend as is doc office and pharmacist had no clue. Anyone been through this?
315737 tn?1407302597 He didn't seem too concerned about the missed dose. I've also doubled up on Solvaldi once an they were not concerned, I sure waS.
Avatar m tn Forgetting the Second Ribavirin dose of a day won't be bad if you take it ASAP. iF YOU TAKE THE iNTERFEON 12 HOURS OR A DAY LATE IT WON'T BE BAD AS LONG AS YOU GET BACK ON TRACK RIGHT AWAY.
Avatar f tn No, if he missed a dose yesterday, then he missed that dose. Do not try to make it up today. Ribavirin has a long half life so his blood level should be okay as long as he does not keep missing doses.
4705307 tn?1447973922 I have linked you to a couple of sites that, while not giving you any stats on missing doses in relationship to SVR, do give you some information about Pegalated Interferon and also on getting back onto schedule if you have missed a dose. However, it would be most advisable to consult with and discuss with your doctor how you should/will proceed with getting back on the appropriate Pegasys schedule.
577132 tn?1314270126 GB is right. It won't matter that you missed a dose. If you'd been in the first few weeks it might have made a difference, but not now. The official literature from Roche for Copegus says that if you remember on the same day, take the missed dose when you remember, otherwise consult your doctor. It's not bad advice. You could give your doc (or the nurse) a call.
315094 tn?1201393650 The doubling up probably wasn't the right move but you'll be okay. Ribavirin stays in the body for quite a while so the missed dose shouldn't compromise your treatment. Things like that happen. Relax.
Avatar f tn Don't have all the numbers but viral load was 23,000,000 and biopsy showed inflammation and bridging fibrosis, (stage 3?). I'm on week 7 out of first 12, pegasys/1000 ribavirin. Doc won't do comprehensive tests to see if working until week 12, then if responding will do 48 weeks. Blood work showed slight anemia this week, he wants me to cut ribavirin to 600. He did say after checking numbers next week we may look into rescue drugs for the anemia.
1418633 tn?1314550345 Is it night time in india now? If so I would take your normal dosage and make sure you don't miss any more. If it is only 4-5 hours late, take the riba now and take the next dose a little later. - Dave http://www.everydayhealth.com/drugs/ribavirin/dosage "What happens if I miss a dose of Ribavirin? Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at your next regularly scheduled time.
Avatar n tn I believe it or not forgot to take my Riba this morning and didn't realize it until I went to get my dinner dose - so I took that - can I take the missed dose say at 10 pm - 5hrs later? You'd think after 7 weeks I'd have this down pat.
Avatar m tn Been on RIBA and PEG and PIs for 4 weeks. Last night missed my 600mg RIBA dose. No reason why. Just spaced out I guess. Anyone else done that? I know the reccommendation is NOT to take the dose if you've missed it by 6 hours. What about taking 800mg this morning? Any comments? This *****! Thanks!
Avatar n tn I believe the package insert tells you just to forget it and move on -- but I always made up any perceived missed dose either at the next dossing or by dividing up the missed dose or the next couple of dosings. Depending on how much you take, if you double the next dose you may get a bit of a "rush", but if you spread it out over the next 2-3 dosings you probably won't. At least that's how it went down with me.
Avatar n tn I would not panic over the missed dose. I thought I missed a dose right at the beginning of tx and like you I saw that some of the people here would make them up. I did not make up my dose and I still was UND at 12 weeks. And, I just missed another one the other night, just fell asleep and did not get up til morning. I just continued with doseage the next morning. Thats twice now, and all is fine.
26471 tn?1211940121 These patients are sensitive to the antiviral and immunologic effects of interferon and ribavirin, and two previous studies have suggested that most nonresponders who responded to higher doses of interferon or peginterferon during retreatment are those with a previous partial virologic response Effect of ribavirin dosing on virologic response The starting dose of ribavirin may also play a role in enhancing virologic response.
8683847 tn?1410760916 Specifically, I have noticed minor heart palpitations after I take the 600mg and sometimes after the 400mg dose. It doesn't last very long and almost always happens if I engage in some sort of physical activity (just like coffee affected me before I stopped drinking it). Other than this side effect, the only other issue I have had are minor headaches occasionally. Has anyone else noticed any heart issues with the Riba or this combo?
3140551 tn?1343255037 It was my understanding that treatment experienced patients go for the 48 weeks, so I was puzzled at the stoppage myself. We are just frantic and everything I read only addresses one missed dose. ANY, and I do mean any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
Avatar n tn Good Morning, this is my first day of taking Ribavirin after learning of my diagnosis of Hep c on Saturday. Unfortunately, I am unable to sleep. I have taken 1 10mg. of Ambian to no avail. Is this a normal reaction? Also, I cannot get the vaccines until later this week. Will I be in any shape to go to work once I begin the full regiment of ribavirin and vaccines? Thank you in advance for any information.
Avatar m tn My concern with the antacids is that they might intefere with ribavirin absorption. Very little in the literature conclusive one way or the other. Wondering if any of you also take antacids and if you take them right after meals with your riba, or if you try to time the antacids a few hours before or after the riba.
Avatar n tn After 60 weeks at 180mcg (full dose) of pegasys, and then 12 weeks at 135mcg (3/4 dose), I start 12 weeks at 90mcg this week. The plan is to go to 45mcg (1/4 dose) for 12 weeks after that for a total of 96 wks on this stuff. I really wonder if my Hematologist won't recommend me staying on a low dose longer when I reach the end. Regarding the itching, I also have had that recurring rash. My GP gave me some Mometasone Furoate Ointment which he said is 5-10x the strength of Hydrocortisone.

Avatar n tn How did you feel the first couple of weeks after your last shot?I have not been sleeping very well and today which is 10 days since my last shot, I feel very sick and spaced out. It seems like a shot would maybe help.
9369350 tn?1403517919 Just wondering process of people like me who missed any dose of victrelis. Coz we only know the resistance rate to this drug is so high. my HCV-RNA was 612 IU on 8th weeks so still + but neither me nor my doc dont call it as + (especially if it came down from 12 million IU).
Avatar f tn That said, some of us have made up skipped doses in various ways including taking a double dose or more conservatively spreading the missed dose over the next day or so. Since you appear to be on high-dose ribavirin, I would strongly suggest you do not double-up unless so directed by your treatment physician.
233616 tn?1312790796 Twenty healthy participants were enrolled in a randomized, 2-period crossover study. Participants were administered a single 600-mg oral dose of ribavirin after either a high-purine meal or a low-purine meal. Serial blood samples were collected predose and over 144 hours after dosing. Ribavirin concentrations were measured by liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry.
630100 tn?1222460107 I had a 48hr period - not 3day, as I cleared up already. In that period I missed what amounts to 1 Ribavirin dose and two telaprevir doses. I was very much out of it and it could be a possible strong reaction coupled with some other factors that I don't want to drag out, but believe me, I am doing everything I can to make sure the circumstances don't repeat. I wanted some helpful advice and I always welcome honest talk and opinions.
Avatar f tn since telaprivir increases the incidence of anemia, i wonder if docs are thinking about lowering the dose of ribavirin at the beginning of treatment. this is just a thought and i would want to follow up with the doc before i started the meds.
