Avatar m tn 2011 ----------------------------INDICATIONS AND USAGE--------------------------- INCIVEK is a hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease inhibitor indicated, in combination with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin, for the treatment of genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C (CHC) in adult patients with compensated liver disease, including cirrhosis, who are treatment-naïve or who have been previously treated with interferon-based treatment, including prior null responders, partial responders, and relapsers.
Avatar f tn Antiviral therapy which is currently pegylated interferon and ribavirin can eradicate the hepc virus which will cease the liver damage. If treatment is successful meaning the virus is eradicated, after a period of time liver histology may improve. Without successful treatment the liver will continue to degenerate. Newer drugs called protease inhibitors are expected to be released sometime in 2011 which will be used in conjunction with pegylated interferon and ribavirin.
Avatar f tn my fiance and i are wanting to know if the viruis hepatitis c can be spread by intercourse ? he has hepatitis c and was just know put on medcation i had a pap smear a wk ago and it came back abnormal .. can i have the viruis ?
Avatar f tn Oh and they are only approved for genotype 1. If you have 2,3,and 4 you use Riba and interferon.
Avatar n tn I have no health insurance and no income to provide for treatment with Interferon and ribavirin. Is there any way to support me?
Avatar n tn When I finished peg and riba I slowly started to feel better. There were lingering side effects from the tx itself however I got no new sx other than some additional hair loss It gets a little better every day.
Avatar n tn when do the effects of interferon, Riboviron, and victrelis for Hep C treatment leave your system?
Avatar n tn 93/capsule (AWP) This is from 2004 and I'm sure the prices have gone up but it looks like Three Rivers and Sandoz are making generic ribavirin but it's still expensive. You should be able to work. The drugs effect everyone differently. I worked throughout my 72 wk treatment. Don't know much about the copay assistance program but here is a link specifically for copay assistance. https://cprpatients.patientadvocate.org/ Sandoz: $9.93/capsule (AWP; $5.05/capsule WAC) $9.
Avatar m tn He took whole course of Pegasus and Ribavirin. After remainig negative for two years his Hepatitis C is again positive this year. What is the cause behind all this?
135456 tn?1301441224 a randomized trial.Hepatology. 2007 Oct;46(4):971-81. PMID: 17894303 HgB decline seems a reasonable proxy for concentration, but I've never seen that documented. Testing for effective drug concentration is supposed to happen as part of the early phases of testing so I suppose at this stage the main impetus for such a test would be data showing that patients with similar dosages exhibit a wide range of concentrations. BTW the 14.
Avatar n tn org/hepatitis-c/articles/Managing-Side-Effects-of-Hepatitis-C-Treatment/2259 We really hope that your Hep C hasn't come back, and you won't need this information!
Avatar n tn My Pegasys nurse says : about 1 month for interferon and about 70 days for ribavirin. Ribavirin can sometimes be detected in the blood 6 months after completion of tx. I suppose everyone is different. At 6 weeks post, for me, I noticed more saliva. This showed me that the meds were dissipating.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately the new drugs known as protease inhibitors have been shown not to work against type 3. This means interferon and ribavirin again, and hoping for a better response. If you used pegasyss last time try the other version called peg-intron this time. You need to ask your doctor about an aggressive treatment with possibly double dosing of interferon for the first four weeks. The secret to beating hepatitis c is to knock it out quickly before it can fight back. See your doctor-good luck.
Avatar f tn mid=WC0b01ac058004d5c1 22/11/2013 European Medicines Agency advises on compassionate use of daclatasvir Opinion concerns use in combination with sofosbuvir in patients with chronic hepatitis C in urgent need of therapy to prevent progression of liver disease The European Medicines Agency’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has given an opinion on the use of daclatasvir in combination with sofosbuvir in the treatment of chronic (long-term) hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection,
Avatar f tn Mild cases can be treated by avoiding cold temperatures. Standard hepatitis C treatments usually work for patients who have hepatitis C and mild or moderate cryoglobulinemia. However, the condition can return when treatment stops. Severe cryoglobulinemia (involves vital organs or large areas of skin) is treated with corticosteroids and other medications that suppress the immune system. Treatment may also involve plasmapheresis.
Avatar n tn OK. I have another question concerning hepatitis c. I tested reactive to hepatitis c antibodies and have now the doctor is doing further testing. If it shows I do not have active hepatitis c then what? Is that it? Or do I have to go for yearly checkup or what? thanks.
348159 tn?1233173307 hey my dad has hepatis c and it is treatable....
Avatar n tn My boyfriend has hepatitis C. I know it can be transmitted through sex. My question is, how long after the first time we had sex should I wait to be tested? I mean, I'm sure that it wouldn't show up immediately.
Avatar f tn I have not heard from an authoritive source that it is possible to be antibody negative for hepatitis C and have been infected.Quite the opposite in fact.I have observed this man's activities since 2000 and could entertain you for hours with details of the inconsistincies, changes of story and astonishing opportunism he has exhibted.I did challenge him head to head by email long ago but he was capable only of ranting.
968560 tn?1307455098 I had 24 weeks of interferon/ribavirin chemotherapy to get rid of Hepatitis C about 2 and a half years ago. I just found out my haemoglobin levels (normal range 135-180) is still just 137 when it was 160 pre-chemo. My previous GP recently died, and my current GP just told me my haemoglobin at 137 was within normal range. I don't know if he took me seriously when I told him it used to be 160. To me this is one obvious reason I have even less energy now than pre hepatitis treatment.
Avatar n tn I have hepatitis c, high blood pressure, and vasculitis. I am a nonresponder to Rebetron. However, during treatment with Rebetron I had no symptoms of the vasculitis. The biopsies indicated "vasculitis"...but the doctors have said that it does not look like normal purpura in that the areas are not dry, crusty, and do not have blisters in the center. The areas are usually on my lower legs and feet, red, raised, painful to the touch, and fade away like a bruise.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am on the triple tx of Sovaldi, Pegasus, and Ribavirin, and have been working the entire time. Day 38 of 84. Timing is everything. I get my shot on Friday nights, am finding drinking tons of water, keeping calorie intake up really helps. Am eating lots of small meals during the day. Am ususlly fine by Monday. I can work from home... telecommute, so it helps in managing stress, and can rest when I need to. Otherwise, I hardly do anything else.
Avatar m tn 53 The combination of pegylated interferon (PEG-IFN) and ribavirin is the standard treatment for chronic hepatitis C. Our recent clinical study suggests that ribavirin augments the induction of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) in patients treated for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. In order to further characterize the mechanisms of action of ribavirin, we examined the effect of ribavirin treatment on ISG induction in cell culture.
4113881 tn?1415853876 For those that know me know that I contracted Hep C through drug use and finished the dreaded 28 week Interferon and Ribavirin regimen in hopes of being cured. I will have my final blood draw in October and if the virus isn't detected in my blood...I will have been cured. That brings me to this post. I was afraid to be tested because I didn't want to face the fact that I might of contracted it. Needless to say, I tested and my nightmare came true.
Avatar m tn Regardless of the type of HCV, they all cause the same disease -- hepatitis C. In the United States, about 57% of people with hepatitis C have genotype 1a, which is the most common type. Genotype 1b is in about 17% of people. Genotypes 2 and 3 are the next most common. It is certainly possible to be tested to find out which genotype you have, and it's actually a good idea to find out because different types best respond to different treatment.
