Hi, I was diagnosed with 'Ocular Rosacea' and 'Dry Eye Syndrome'. I have used Restasis and have tried allergy drops. My eyes are always red and feel as if I have something in them (which is the bumps under my eyelids). Does anyone know what I can do about this. I've been to so many eye Dr's. and I cannot get them cleared up. I used to wear contact lenses and now I can no longer wear them. It has been almost 5 years since I was able to wear my contacts.

I am taking antibiotics called mino 50 for ocular rosacea and fish oil and flaxseed oil supp.The reason i didn't quit my job is because i went to visit my family in Italy for three weeks my eyes became worse. I couldn't leave my house . So i thought it had nothing to do with chemicals. They have tested me for allergies , viral or bacterial problems , all negative. i am driving everybody crazy at home.

You may not be aware but your question has landed in the MS community which is probably not the right community to answer this question...
All i can tell you is Restasis is typically used to treat dry eye to increase tear production, and it also helps decrease ocular surface disease, lessen the severity of dry eye symptoms and significant reduction in ocular pain postoperative with Glaucoma but i'm unaware of Restasis being used to treat Glaucoma specifically.
I first saw an optometrist who said I had dry eye and ocular rosacea and to keep my contacts out for a little while, even though I do not have it in my face ( I know that 20% of people experience in their eye first who have rosacea) A second optometrist just told me that my eyes were 95% better and gave me zylet for a day which seemed to work.
The problem then resurfaced and then I was told it was Rosacea of the eye, but I dont have Rosacea of the skin or anything like that and everything I've read about Rosacea of the eye also shows it being related to the skin condition. The problem is only in my left eye. I also get a blurring feeling in that eye. I'm constantly putting artificial tears in that eye but have short term relief.

The lid is red and swollen and it hurts. I have been diagnosed with ocular rosacea and blepharitis in the past. The only thing that has worked is doxycycline 50mg 1x/day. My Ophthalmologist and Dermatologist don’t want me taking doxy long term (why I don’t know since it works) and put me on Oracea, which doesn’t do the trick. Does anyone know what these pustules are? How should they be treated?

Hindsight is 20-20 but after quite a few doctors I am convinced that my original complaint was related to ocular rosacea and dry eyes as well as Glacouma and some macular issues ( mild )

Putting topical finacea clears up one area, but the itchy redness creeps past the treated area and I now have ocular rosacea. I never fully recouped from having the flu like illness from kissing the guy who had uveitis/iritis ( of course he claimed he had no illness). I broke rash upon treatment with ampicillin and later doxycycline but truly think I should be on antiviral.
I have an online friend who is a dermatologist and she had told me back when I first got the stye that sometimes they are caused by ocular rosacea. The opthalmologist that I visited said that I had ocular rosacea but gave me nothing by way of treatment unless you count the eye drops.
I have made an appointment with another opthalmologist but couldn't get in until May 18. My eye doesn't bother me a lot unless I'm using it but I work in front of a computer all day.
s syndrome on steroids for long periods. Most of my patients with your problems I treat with Restasis twice daily for the rest of their life. I have said this before but both my wife and I have bad dry eyes and my wife has been on restasis with good results for about 15 years and me for about 10 years. Note it takes 4-6 months for Restasis to kick in and work fully. There are too other drops that are in this family.
has anyone taken restasis? I either get intense lacrimation and cannot see, or now my orbital is attacked and I cannot focus in one eye. any success with anything?
of scarring disease(ruled out) etc. Also many meds, zylet, restasis, azasite, tobradex. Now currently off all meds, still the eye remains unhappy. I am a nurse in a cath lab in the DFW area in Texas. One of the cardiologists I work with mentioned the possibility of iritis &/or some sort of autoimmune disorder, so I visited my PCP and had everal of the autoimmune tests performed, ANA, C reactive protein, ESR, RF, Latex etc. These results are pending.
I have been diagnosed with rosacea by three docs and been given three different topical creams. None worked at all and one was about $100 per small bottle! I seem to always be red across the nose and cheeks and it seems to be getting worse each year and I am beginning to notice some on chin and between eyebrows. I really havent been able to pinpoint triggers but have always blushed easily and have always gotten really red faced during exercise. Playing on tennis and basketball teams in H.S.
m told I have no signs of infection, ocular surface is good, Schirmer test shows mild dry eye with use of punctal plugs, small sign of allergy. I tried a short course of steriod drops which relieved my symptoms, but they returned as soon as I stopped. Restasis for three months has offered no improvement. Pataday and Acular provide no benefit either. I am at a loss as to what to do next. I would greatly appreciate any direction or ideas.
No, it's not possible. You didn't get ocular herpes from this urgent care visit.
