restasis

Avatar f tn Hi, I was diagnosed with 'Ocular Rosacea' and 'Dry Eye Syndrome'. I have used Restasis and have tried allergy drops. My eyes are always red and feel as if I have something in them (which is the bumps under my eyelids). Does anyone know what I can do about this. I've been to so many eye Dr's. and I cannot get them cleared up. I used to wear contact lenses and now I can no longer wear them. It has been almost 5 years since I was able to wear my contacts.

Avatar f tn Sometimes there is a real corneal disorder like recurrent erosion syndrome or basement membrane dystropy or a lid problem like ocular rosacea, demodex, blepharitis or irritating eyelashes or even an old surgical incision that didn't heal well.

Avatar n tn t find thick eye mucus anywhere listed as a symptom for Ocular Rosacea. I have recently started using Latisse and it seems to be helping with the swelling of the upper eyelid, but not with the itching and mucus. Could this be Ocular Rosacea? Is Latisse used for treatment of Ocular Rosacea?
Avatar m tn I would like to find an answer. Treatment for allergies calls for cold compress while rosacea and bleph call for warm. Are lid scrubs effective? I started them and may start seeing results but I am worried about the thin membrane of my eyelid or aggravating it. while this may seem minor to many it is major tome. I used to party alot and this stopped immediately. I now sleep 8 hour a day and I am willing to do anything to correct this. Please let me know after you read my nove,!
Avatar f tn So does ocular rosacea only happen to people with facial rosacea? Or can things like an infection or computer vision syndrome cause it?
Avatar m tn Ocular Rosacea is common. You may need oral antibiotics, use the search feature and archives to read about the treatment of blepharitis which is what OR causes.
Avatar f tn I then tried Restasis for 3 months.and all it did was burn, so I stopped. If you read the fine print, Restasis only works in 15% of the people. I found that liquid eye drops can aggravate the situation because they don't seem to contain the "oily" tears that are needed to protect the eye from drying. Often I would get headaches that started with my eyes hurting. I finally found that eye ointments works and Genteal PM was the best.
Avatar n tn While there discuss with him/her going on long term restasis and using a topical steroid such as lotemax for the first couple of weeks to reduce the stinging you likely will have. The use of restasis for long term eye for surface eye inflammation is a very promising new use. Another very promiscing drug that might benefit you is Azasite which is an eyedrop that has emerged as the favorite for resistant and chronic blepharitis.
Avatar n tn I have ocular rosacea and suffer from dry, irritated, red eyes constantly. Since I very rarely suffer from facial outbreaks, I don't use the metronizadole cream on my face. However, I've been told that using the cream on my face will benefit the eye inflammation as well. Is this true?
Avatar m tn ( ecept Rosacea and thats rare ) Hindsight is 20-20 but after quite a few doctors I am convinced that my original complaint was related to ocular rosacea and dry eyes as well as Glacouma and some macular issues ( mild ) I had cataract surgery both eyes ( worse than before surgery ) capsolotomy both eyes ( no improvement in vision and side effects worse ) Retina detachment and tear had to have buckle and a Macular pucker peel and vitrectomy ( probibly influenced by cataract s
Avatar f tn The medication often stings when therapy is begun--it usually gets better by week three or your Ophthalmologist (EyeMD) can prescribe a mild steroid drop for a couple of weeks. If you did not take for 8 weeks you need to restart therapy. Improvement often continues for up to 6 months. If you have tried tear duct plugs you should have had all for tear duct openings (puncta) plugged with a permanent plus (not a disolving one). Usually just the lower lids are done with mild dry eyes.
Avatar m tn General Information on Dry Eyes a Schirmer test of zero indicates that you have severe dry eyes. I'm assuming from your posting that you have tried both preserved and unpreserved artifical tears, gels or lubricating ointments at bedtime, environmental modification, etc. Don't discount eye drops. There are over a 100 different brands of artificial tears and they can't all be lumped together. Sometimes one will find the perfect drop.
493068 tn?1224765315 I had 48 weeks of Peg Interferon and Ribavirin 2 years ago and have many problems such as severe ocular and facial rosacea, joint and muscle pain, heahaches, severe fatigue, memory problems and depression. Has anyone researched the possibility of lasting post side effects or can you help me research this??
Avatar f tn I have an online friend who is a dermatologist and she had told me back when I first got the stye that sometimes they are caused by ocular rosacea. The opthalmologist that I visited said that I had ocular rosacea but gave me nothing by way of treatment unless you count the eye drops. I have made an appointment with another opthalmologist but couldn't get in until May 18. My eye doesn't bother me a lot unless I'm using it but I work in front of a computer all day.
Avatar m tn I have said this before but both my wife and I have bad dry eyes and my wife has been on restasis with good results for about 15 years and me for about 10 years. Note it takes 4-6 months for Restasis to kick in and work fully. There are too other drops that are in this family. Xiidra, which I do not use after having poor results and may complaints from my patients about stinging, burning and not being effective.
Avatar f tn Background. Have had limited rosacea on face for years. Over the past couple years,I've been exposed to someone who had a 'dormant' cold sore, and exposed to someone who had uveitis or iritis (not knowing it was probably triggered by a virus). My rosacea is getting worse with lesions on the nose. Putting topical finacea clears up one area, but the itchy redness creeps past the treated area and I now have ocular rosacea.
Avatar f tn skin etc I am taking Imuron for the igG4 and restasis for my eyes. I use all the Biotene products for my mouth. My rheumatologist sends my blood and other tests to the Mayo Clinic. These things help a little bit. You might talk to your physician about the Restasis. Do they know what is causing the dry eye syndrome ?? I wish you good luck in finding some comfort.
Avatar n tn I have searched and searched for info about chronic conjunctivitis and conjunctival cancer comes up or ocular pemphigoid, but I was evaluated by a PhD MD ophthamologist at the medical school for the pemphigoid and he said no way, even though no biopsy was done. Do you usually have some kind of skin breakout issues on the eyelid if rosacea is the cause? I don't have that, just the horribly red, swollen ugly eye..Thanks for the info.
Avatar n tn Isotretinoin may be considered as a treatment option for all forms of severe or therapy-resistant rosacea. Sunscreens, particularly those that protect against ultraviolet A and B light waves and have a sun-protecting factor (SPF) of 13 or higher, are recommended for all people with rosacea. It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for this and then decide the cause and further plan of management. Let us know if you need any other information. Regards.
Avatar m tn Most diseases that require Plaq are associated with higher incidence of ocular surface disease (called dry eye by public). Many need Restasis. There is a new high dose restasis just approved by FDA (Cequa. Sun Pharmaceuticals). Xiidra is crazy expensive.
Avatar f tn I tried a short course of steriod drops which relieved my symptoms, but they returned as soon as I stopped. Restasis for three months has offered no improvement. Pataday and Acular provide no benefit either. I am at a loss as to what to do next. I would greatly appreciate any direction or ideas.
