493068 tn?1224765315 I have Ocular Rosacea and it gets very bad at times and have chronic styes. Can you explain why this condition is so painful? I am off and on Doxycyclines and Erythromycin ointment. Is there any other new treatment? I also have glaucoma and have Sjogrens. I have some days that I am unable to read or drive.
Avatar f tn I also had an infection in the left eye which cleared up with an antibiotic/antiflammatory drug and the Ophthalmalogist then started me on Restasis. The left eye still has pain. Can you still have dry eye with Restasis? Maybe this is the cause of the pain. Also the floaters are still in the left eye. Can the floaters cause pain also?
Avatar f tn Thank you for your answer. I am taking antibiotics called mino 50 for ocular rosacea and fish oil and flaxseed oil supp. The reason i didn't quit my job is because i went to visit my family in Italy for three weeks my eyes became worse. 493068 tn?1224765315 I have severe ocular rosacea and facial rosacea. I have been in just severe pain. I have kept a juournal for 6 months and stress form ilness ex: UTI and low humidity makes it go wild. I feel like I just can't handle this horrible pain much longer. My opthalmologist just gave me Lotemax reluctantly because of glaucoma. Is this rosacea suppose to be this paiful? I take Doxy daily, Travatan, erythromycin eye ointment. I am just at my wits end. Any help would be appreciated.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have ocular rosacea and Dr. K had told me about a laser surgery to treat my gluacoma and it was to help me with the ocular rosacea in the long run. I wanted to hear what he would reccomend that I do. I do not want to take Doxycycline the rest of my life. It is for my eyes.....
Avatar f tn So can ocular rosacea just spring up one day, or is it from birth? I hve never had any redness in cheeks or face, so I'm wondering if the ocular form can just come one day...
Avatar f tn Hi there, You may not be aware but your question has landed in the MS community which is probably not the right community to answer this question... All i can tell you is Restasis is typically used to treat dry eye to increase tear production, and it also helps decrease ocular surface disease, lessen the severity of dry eye symptoms and significant reduction in ocular pain postoperative with Glaucoma but i'm unaware of Restasis being used to treat Glaucoma specifically.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have tear duct plugs, use Trvatan Z, arithromycin ointment, Restasis drops, and po Doxycline for ocular rosacea. I just went to my eye doctor and have a corneal scratch and this has been happening very often. My vision is so blurred in this eye and both my eyes hurt all the time Could something more be causing this? I am not scratching my eye or had any injuries. I apprciate any feedback.
Avatar n tn t find thick eye mucus anywhere listed as a symptom for Ocular Rosacea. I have recently started using Latisse and it seems to be helping with the swelling of the upper eyelid, but not with the itching and mucus. Could this be Ocular Rosacea? Is Latisse used for treatment of Ocular Rosacea?
Avatar m tn I first saw an optometrist who said I had dry eye and ocular rosacea and to keep my contacts out for a little while, even though I do not have it in my face ( I know that 20% of people experience in their eye first who have rosacea) A second optometrist just told me that my eyes were 95% better and gave me zylet for a day which seemed to work.
Avatar f tn My daily regimen consists of pataday (allergy eye drops) and restasis in the morning and night and alot of over the counter ointments and drops. I don't think I've heard of anyone with a similar condition as me... I've been in so I'm currently going to an eye specialist who said my eyes don't produce the natural oils that they're supposed to be.. instead of oil the consistency of olive oil, mine is like toothpaste.
Avatar m tn ( ecept Rosacea and thats rare ) Hindsight is 20-20 but after quite a few doctors I am convinced that my original complaint was related to ocular rosacea and dry eyes as well as Glacouma and some macular issues ( mild ) I had cataract surgery both eyes ( worse than before surgery ) capsolotomy both eyes ( no improvement in vision and side effects worse ) Retina detachment and tear had to have buckle and a Macular pucker peel and vitrectomy ( probibly influenced by cataract s
Avatar m tn Ocular Rosacea is common. You may need oral antibiotics, use the search feature and archives to read about the treatment of blepharitis which is what OR causes.
Avatar f tn The problem then resurfaced and then I was told it was Rosacea of the eye, but I dont have Rosacea of the skin or anything like that and everything I've read about Rosacea of the eye also shows it being related to the skin condition. The problem is only in my left eye. I also get a blurring feeling in that eye. I'm constantly putting artificial tears in that eye but have short term relief. Suzie H.
Avatar n tn The lid is red and swollen and it hurts. I have been diagnosed with ocular rosacea and blepharitis in the past. The only thing that has worked is doxycycline 50mg 1x/day. My Ophthalmologist and Dermatologist don’t want me taking doxy long term (why I don’t know since it works) and put me on Oracea, which doesn’t do the trick. Does anyone know what these pustules are? How should they be treated?
Avatar n tn I have ocular rosacea and suffer from dry, irritated, red eyes constantly. Since I very rarely suffer from facial outbreaks, I don't use the metronizadole cream on my face. However, I've been told that using the cream on my face will benefit the eye inflammation as well. Is this true?

Avatar f tn There are many causes for severe dry eyes. Suggest you use the search feature and archives to read the many posts about dry eyes and blepharitis. This is from a recent post: General Information on Dry Eyes a Schirmer test of zero indicates that you have severe dry eyes. I'm assuming from your posting that you have tried both preserved and unpreserved artifical tears, gels or lubricating ointments at bedtime, environmental modification, etc. Don't discount eye drops.
493068 tn?1224765315 I had 48 weeks of Peg Interferon and Ribavirin 2 years ago and have many problems such as severe ocular and facial rosacea, joint and muscle pain, heahaches, severe fatigue, memory problems and depression. Has anyone researched the possibility of lasting post side effects or can you help me research this??
Avatar f tn Putting topical finacea clears up one area, but the itchy redness creeps past the treated area and I now have ocular rosacea. I never fully recouped from having the flu like illness from kissing the guy who had uveitis/iritis ( of course he claimed he had no illness). I broke rash upon treatment with ampicillin and later doxycycline but truly think I should be on antiviral.
Avatar f tn I have an online friend who is a dermatologist and she had told me back when I first got the stye that sometimes they are caused by ocular rosacea. The opthalmologist that I visited said that I had ocular rosacea but gave me nothing by way of treatment unless you count the eye drops. I have made an appointment with another opthalmologist but couldn't get in until May 18. My eye doesn't bother me a lot unless I'm using it but I work in front of a computer all day.
Avatar m tn I have said this before but both my wife and I have bad dry eyes and my wife has been on restasis with good results for about 15 years and me for about 10 years. Note it takes 4-6 months for Restasis to kick in and work fully. There are too other drops that are in this family. Xiidra, which I do not use after having poor results and may complaints from my patients about stinging, burning and not being effective.
Avatar f tn has anyone taken restasis? I either get intense lacrimation and cannot see, or now my orbital is attacked and I cannot focus in one eye. any success with anything?
Avatar n tn ) I am schedule to return in 2 weeks with only being on the Acyclovir tablets 400 bid. Thus far as of day 4, no change and eye is very very red and unimproved. I have had a rosacea dx in the past but is is mainly on the right side of my face and is now very minimal, could this still be related? They have not ever mentioned rosacea as a cause...UGH..I am frustrated as you can imagine...
Avatar f tn Thank you, and I will ask about the medication!
Avatar n tn I seem to always be red across the nose and cheeks and it seems to be getting worse each year and I am beginning to notice some on chin and between eyebrows. I really havent been able to pinpoint triggers but have always blushed easily and have always gotten really red faced during exercise. Playing on tennis and basketball teams in H.S., I was quite the scarry tomato face! Anyway my question is if there is a possible connection with fungus or yeast? Any good tips on types of makeup?
Avatar n tn and CHIN. It is characterized by FLUSHING; ERYTHEMA; EDEMA; RHINOPHYMA; papules; and ocular symptoms. Doctors usually prescribe a topical antibiotic, such as metronidazole, that is applied directly to the affected skin. For people with more severe cases, doctors often prescribe an oral (taken by mouth) antibiotic. Tetracycline, minocycline, erythromycin, and doxycycline are the most common antibiotics used to treat rosacea.
Avatar f tn I tried a short course of steriod drops which relieved my symptoms, but they returned as soon as I stopped. Restasis for three months has offered no improvement. Pataday and Acular provide no benefit either. I am at a loss as to what to do next. I would greatly appreciate any direction or ideas.
Avatar n tn I have noticed the burning sensation you have discussed. What is the success rate for Restasis for people who have tried it and stuck to the Restasis program.
