Ranitidine and nexium together

Common Questions and Answers about Ranitidine and nexium together

520191 tn?1355639002 i thought it was the other medication ( citalopram) so i didn't take that and i took the ranitidine, within 30 min of taking i had more and more problems breathing, i felt like i was suffocating. i rang my doctor as i didn't know what to do and she put me through as she could tell i couldn't breathe even through she couldn't understand me. By the time the ambulance arrived my lips and neck has swollen, i could barely say a word let alone a sentence.
Avatar m tn html I would like to say that my thyroid is leveling out quite well, I am sleeping well, BP is about where I would expect it to be. I did want to say that I was very wrong about amour thyroid. My heart palpitations seem to be related to GERD. I have a hiatal hernia and have just recently been putting everything together. Unfortunately they are back because I recently had a failed root canal pulled and took some ibuprofen on an empty stomach. My stomach has not yet recovered.
Avatar n tn THIS WAS THE MAGIC BULLET! 75mg of Ranitidine (Zantac)----one first thing in the morning and one before dinner at night, and the arrhythmias WENT AWAY COMPLETELY. Your results may vary, so please don't take this as medical advice--I just wanted to let you and the group know (and the MD's and cardiologists if they are reading this) that there is a definite connection between digestive tract acid, vagal nerve stimulation (or destimulation) and heart arrhythmias.
Avatar f tn RX strength nexium at 40 mg/day and nefidipine ER at 30mg/day and over the counter ranitidine 150 mg and famotidine 20 mg once in the morning. i often take the otc in the late afternoon if needed. i have had non-alcohol hepatitis c for decades and am aware of the nexium warning regarding use with liver disease. every now and then i take a break from the nexium and double up on the otc meds. i then have some mild symptoms that are manageable but only when i take a break from the nexium.
Avatar n tn I've been on Nexium, Aciphex, etc. Now I'm on omneprazole 20mg and ranitidine 300mg together (starting 2nd month). Nothing has helped. My symptoms (severe fatigue, stomach tender to touch, getting sick and bloated after eating, extremely sick in the morning, etc.) hardly match any of what my Dr. has thought of (acid reflux, IBS, GERD). I don't know what's going on. The pain is getting worse. Why have none of the proton pump inhibitors worked?
Avatar n tn is right and go ahead with the ranitidine and see if it helps and hang in there or should I be more persistant with him about the cardiac testing? Both techs I saw when I was getting my workup said I shouldn't rest until I get a clear nuclear stress test. Because all GERD symptoms are so close to heart symptoms I am confused. I am cynical about the care I am receiving because all of my online research has turned me into a cyberchondriac.
Avatar m tn It's been a few months since I stopped the meds and I've experienced a lot of neck and shoulder pain. I've been seeking treatment with massage and chiropractic care. The pain is not subsiding at all. The chiropractor said that I don't have an injury, but fascia...itis in neck and shoulder. The only meds I'm on now are protonix for reflux, and clonodine for hot flashes, and wellbutrin.
Avatar n tn That is great that your doctor is ordering tests to help rule out what it is not. I had a racing heart on the Zantac, Ranitidine and my pharmacist said this is a side effect and with my MVP it was too much. What has helped ? Are you able to eat ?
170935 tn?1225374676 I've asked my cardiologist and my Gastro doc about them being tied together and they both deny it! I think its related to the vegal nerve. When my stomach, esophagus spasms, I get the palpitations. It is really unnerving and very frightening for me, as I have never felt anything like it before. I've been to the ER twice because I thought I was having a heart attack. I had the EKG's, Stress Test, and even an arteriogram. All showing a perfectly healthy heart.
Avatar f tn I struggled with those for almost two years. When I tapered off the Nexium meds and used a simple, over-the-counter antacid (containing calcium and magnesium) as needed, the PVCs lessened. When I ate carefully and finally stopped Nexium completely (using the OTC antacid only when needed and in small amounts) the PVCs went away completely. I've been free of them for almost two years now.
Avatar m tn ), so I started taking Ranitidine 75mg every day as well, which helped, and then I had to move up to 150mg on top of the pantoprazole. When my insurance ran out, I ended up switching to two Ranitidine 150mg tabs a day and one more if I had an attack, but now that seems to be becoming hopeless as well. The only thing I haven't tried is Nexium, which I don't know would do anything or have the same effect. I'm only 21 and I'm tired of this getting in the way of my life.
Avatar n tn I'm going on my 4th month of this hell called acid reflux that has caused my a case of gastritis and esophagitis. I've been going back and forth between Nexium and Losec with little success and can't tolerate the nausea and diarhea from the Nexium. Losec has it's side effects too but not quite as bad. It doesn't work as well as Nexium though. Melissa, does your gastritis & esophagitis cause you nausea and burning in your stomach and burning in your esophagus?
221122 tn?1323014865 It's nice to know I could use it while still on Nexium. Maybe I could try Nexium every other day and mastic gum on the off days for a few months? Then cut back more on the Nexium if that works? Not eager to deal with acid rebound, since that really gets my PVCs going. But I really don't think it's good to be on Nexium for many years, with what we are now finding out. Thanks. Oh...almost forgot...where do you get your mastic gum? Is it in a tablet or capsule? Thanks.
Avatar m tn This is a HOLISTIC program and so all steps must be taken together as mentioned in this blog to get better results. You will fail the program; if you continued to use PPI/Pro kinetic/constipation drugs when following this program. You must take up this program with CLEAR INTENT to get cured and NOT JUST follow it in an ad- hoc manner. Please put in your comments & queries only after you have tried this program for at least 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn WE MUST continue to build alkaline reserves for the cure to become permanent. • This is a HOLISTIC program and so all steps must be taken together as mentioned in this blog to get better results. Avatar m tn The one way to deal with is to control acid secretion and that is what these PPI/H2 blockers (Razo, Nexium etc) do and then there are these ANTACIDS who help neutralize the acids in stomach but here you cannot control as to how much of acids will be Neutralized !. Acids are usually released when digesting protein or when there is undigested food in stomach.
535089 tn?1400677119 These are often prescribed for runners, sports injuries to joints, and those suffering from arthritis. Syva labs has recently reworked its Cannabinoid test and claims to have eliminated this problem. But a Science magazine article (July 8, 1988) lists Ibuprofen as cross reactive. Under the new government guidelines THC testing levels will be reduced to 50 nanograms. Many more THC false positives can be expected in 1994. Dristan Nasal Spray, Neosynephren, Vicks Nasal Spray, Sudafed, etc.
Avatar m tn - The one and most practiced which is also a faulty line of treatment is generic program that included PPI class of drugs (e.g. NEXIUM, ranitidine, famotidine, omeprazole, RAZO etc)/Motility class of drugs (e.g. REGLAN, Domperidone, Erythromycin) along with antacids to manage the issue. Please know that PPI class of drugs is used for SUPPRESSING ACID While PRO KINETIC Drugs are used to push the digested food through stomach (Motility) for EVERY MEAL you take.
Avatar m tn Since we're twins it would make more sense that we would end together but you are starting after and finishing earlier. That therefore means that the chicks are the tougher of twins (and more stubborn with more stubborn pig headed virus's inside)! ;-) You know I am rooting for you with all of my heart. Can't wait to read how well you did tomorrow!
Avatar n tn Occasionally, I would wake up choking on vomit due to excess acid - which belive me is really frightening. I was initially prescribed Nexium 40mg., and for several months I was acid free and had no side effects. A year later I had an appendix burst while I was working in the Middle East and peritonitis which nearly killed me but for the quick action of a Syrian surgeon who opened my abdomen and flushed out all the pus.
Avatar f tn New gastroenterologist put me on 60 mg dexilant bid (and has discontinued the omeprazole and ranitidine) and is doing another endoscopy tomorrow AM because he thinks it could be related to my shingles outbreak in January. He said my case is an interesting one and is one for the journals. Great lol but at least he listened to what is happening with me unlike the other gastroenterologist.
Avatar f tn As far as I know, if it's Barrett's, long term prescription acid medications such as Nexium to prevent further damage. IF, and that's a big IF, it's sclero related, mostly watching, preventing Barrett's and if it gets too closed up - esophageal stretching. Absolute worse case scenario, and I have a sclero friend with it, is a feeding tube and you eat through it at night. Based off your description though, and keep in mind, I'm a patient, not a doctor, it's not that.
Avatar m tn I'm taking PPI's (Nexium, Aciphex, etc.) and H2 blockers (Zantac, Pepcid AC, etc.) for LPR reflux. Sometimes also take antacids like Tums, Mylanta and Gaviscon. My concern with the antacids is that they might intefere with ribavirin absorption. Very little in the literature conclusive one way or the other. Wondering if any of you also take antacids and if you take them right after meals with your riba, or if you try to time the antacids a few hours before or after the riba.
Avatar n tn I feel we all should come together as people and view the doctors that are prescribing all these medication that put our lives in dismay. I have diabetes and became a victim of the medical field. I am prescribed all kinds of medication for illness I don't have and all I heard is take this for precaution. I inform my doctors of the side effects of the medications and continuouly, I hear it is impossibl and continue taking it because it is to help prevent this illness.
Avatar n tn I have trouble with omeprazole (headache) and Nexium (constipation). I've been taking ranitidine for years and am currently at the maximum dosage of 300 mg bid, supplemented by liquid anti-acid for stomach burn break-through. mtgardner- Sleeping without dreaming typically happens when you are in your deepest part of your sleep. Dreams typically come with REM (rapid eye movement) sleep- the lighter part of your sleep.
Avatar n tn After another morning of "I've got my gagging thing again' I told my son we would get up and look this thing up together on the internet. I am already feeling much better just knowing he isn't alone, as I hadn't heard of anyone else with his problems. My son is 9 and he has seemingly endured this condition his whole life. I used to think it was due to difficulties during birth (he had oxygen deprevation resulting in a hearing loss, eye squint and general muscle laxness).
530191 tn?1214166411 I've been on hydroxizine, xyzal, fexofenidine, doxepin, claritan, ranitidine, and of course, the dreaded prednisone. I have found that all anti-histhamines so far have little to no effect. I get hives when I work-out or sweat, when I swim, when a cold wind hits me, during my period, when I'm sick, and sometimes for no reason at all. The only drug that seems to be effective is prednisone, which makes me fat and jittery. I feel like a fluffy pillow or a marshmallow when I take prednisone.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor and he put me on loratadine, and ranitidine, and gave me a prescription for Xyzal, they also did blood work to check thyroid, liver, ect and food, pet alllergies.....havn't got results back yet..but when my whole hand and fingers swelled up like a club recently, now that its over, now my skin is peeling...does it ever end?
Avatar n tn Gastrologist told me I had GERD and put me on nexium. The Nexium gave me pains in my stomach/intestines (I don't know where exactly) and felt like sharp pains under bottom of rib cage. I stopped the nexium and seemed fine. But I still "bi-gawk." Another Doctor tested me for H pylori, which was positive. As far as I know, I have had a re-occurance of H pylori at least 3 times and done the antibiotics.
