2006603 tn?1331332927 Anyone use ranitidine while pregnant? I am 33w4d and yesterday my doc prescribed me 150mg tablets to take twice a day for heartburn. Anyone use ranitidine while pregnant? I just want to make sure its safe.
520191 tn?1355639002 i thought it was the other medication ( citalopram) so i didn't take that and i took the ranitidine, within 30 min of taking i had more and more problems breathing, i felt like i was suffocating. i rang my doctor as i didn't know what to do and she put me through as she could tell i couldn't breathe even through she couldn't understand me. By the time the ambulance arrived my lips and neck has swollen, i could barely say a word let alone a sentence.
Avatar n tn The Nexium he is taking is giving him awful cramps (proven by discontinuing the Nexium). Can ranitidine be used safely with a damaged liver?
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, the Prevacid didn't work so well and after much fanagaling I got back on Nexium. It took two weeks for Nexium to finally kick in and it was effective for about two weeks. Now I'm I have a constant pain radiating from my chest and what seems like the middle of my back (heartburn I guess). I've made an appointment with my specialist but the visit is two months away. Does anybody have any advice on what I should do? Should I wait for two months and just deal with the discomfort?
Avatar n tn Do you take any medications ? I had stomach and gas problems on celexa, zoloft, nexium , acifex and problems when taking alot of fish oil ? ConcernedLady do you know if its ok to combine licorice with protonix and pepsid ? I have read that licorice is an antidepressant also .
Avatar m tn Ask your Cardio or GI doc. They should be able to give you the infor you need. I am taking plavix and was on nexium. Had to go off it because of the FDA findings. Am now on pepcid You can also look on the FDA website for more info on that. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I'm on Nexium, 20 mg a day, and have been for 5 years. Within the last six months they diagnosed me with PVCs, 8500 a day on average, when I never had them before. Naturally I'd like to get rid of the scary things. But how can you just go off Prilosec or Prevacid without getting acid rebound? I'd like to get off it because too little stomach acid can cause anemia, osteoporosis, and B12 deficiency. PPIs have been implicated in all of these.
Avatar n tn I was taking 2 150mg Ranitidine a day and an occasional 20mg Nexium if it gets really out of hand - after about 2-3 weeks of DGL, I started cutting back on Ranitidine. I think I was down to 2 75mg a day. But...I believe a recent Nexium triggered a gout attack. So I took some Vioxx to deal with that - which in turn is sending my stomach into a fizz :( Kind of a nasty circle. Volleyball ends in 2 weeks so I can stop the vioxx - hopefully things will settle back down.
Avatar m tn I've taken Nexium, and Ranitidine. Not constantly, just when it flares up. Now, every 2 years or so something happens where it flares up and my whole threat is burned. Usually it's eating something bad late at night AND stress. Never one or the other but the combination of the two will cause this to happen. Not always but every 2 years or so. My grandma had GERD and she passed away in 2014 because of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Was very sad.
Avatar m tn Lansoprozol caused joint pain and erectile dysfunction, Ranitidine erectile dysfunction and Cimietidine diarrhoea and erectile dysfunction. What PPIs or H2 receptor antagonists are there without these side effects, espcially the anti androgen type problems?
1210142 tn?1266080631 Taking Diltiazem, Lisinopril, Aspirin and Ranitidine as well. Have been having constant stomach and chest pains and the doctors are not able to find the cause- at least they don’t think it is a cardiac one./the chest pains/ My gastroenterologist suggested I stop taking Ranitidine and switch to Pantroprazole. I have read a lot about the interaction between Plavix and PPI’s but he thinks only Omeprazole have more effect on Plavix, not Pantoprazole.
Avatar n tn Hi Yes i know of a couple of people this happened to and their doctors both said it was probably the nexium-- and put them on H2 blockers to see-- and they were rechecked later. Their levels are both fine now.
Avatar n tn After I had finished with the Doxy, it turned out that the combination of nexium and doxy caused a bacterial growth in my stomach. I went to a Gastroenterologist for a while before they came to that conclusion because they had to do other tests to see why I had constant nausea and stomach pains for about three months straight.
Avatar n tn I had horrible problems with heartburn and acid reflux. My NP gave me Nexium and it helped alot. The person to ask is JimJim, he went through the same thing and knows tons about it. Good luck.
Avatar m tn And it was only once then. It just happened so suddenly, I was breathing find and then I lie down and immediately begin experiencing problems. I also have terriible posture and spend 5+ hours a day using the computer, sitting not up straight in a chair, not sure if that has anything to do with it either.
Avatar m tn html I would like to say that my thyroid is leveling out quite well, I am sleeping well, BP is about where I would expect it to be. I did want to say that I was very wrong about amour thyroid. My heart palpitations seem to be related to GERD. I have a hiatal hernia and have just recently been putting everything together. Unfortunately they are back because I recently had a failed root canal pulled and took some ibuprofen on an empty stomach. My stomach has not yet recovered.
Avatar m tn Next went to Surgeon #1, he thought the ultrasound was more reliable than the C/T , disregarding the possible gall stones, and sent me for a 24 hr urine test and a head C/T. Both tests were normal. I also tried acupuncture and some herbal remedies and probiotics. Next I went to GI #2. He put me on Dicetel and sent me for more blood tests (normal), a stomach emptying scan(normal), Doppler ultrasound (tiny sludge ball in the gall bladder) and another stomach scope(normal).
Avatar n tn i experienced stomach ache, bloatedness, as if too much gas in the lower lf side of the abdomen (that is in the colon).
Avatar m tn They act like that's is ultimate determining tests. I even went to a GI who just said here's some Nexium. And for anyone who tries to say my pain, diarreha and nausea, is anxiety they also put me on Zoloft 100mg and Wellbutrin. The pain is real, I mean I had enough bodily knowledge to go to the ER and they took my gallbladder out. And now it isn't any better. I know when something is going on. As for the ERCP or MRCP, they haven't even mentioned that.
Avatar f tn After awhile the Nexium alone didn't help so they had me had ranitidine every night and the nexium ever morning. It worked well for a long time. I am over weight and I know this is another thing that is cause it to bother me so much. But I started hurting 8 months ago and have been back and forth to the doctor several times since with severe pain in the upper abdomen above my belly button all the way to under my rib cage and severe back pain lower and center of my back.
Avatar n tn I take 2 Ranitidine 300mg and Prevacid Soulutab 30mg.1 RANITIDINE AT 6AM AND 6PM AND THE PREVACID AT 30MINUTES BEFORE DINNER. Is that enough to help my acid reflux? And sometimes when i am laying for sleep the reflux occurs. What can I do?
Avatar n tn also I take nexium 40 mg twice a day along with ranitidine 300 mg at bed time for chronic gerd cough and aspirating stomach acid yet the endoscopy shows no erosion. I have had two vocal cord injection procedures due to loss of voice from gerd also how can i have so much reflux nausea, stomach pain and all tests so far be negative. I know i had a gastric emptying scan which was borderline last year.
716924 tn?1235873079 For example I am on 300mg of Ranitidine a day. (Once a Day) Would getting on Nexium actually work better? The Ranitidine does stop acid I guess, but I still get the regurgitation a lot. Just is not that sour.
Avatar n tn I do get heartburn once in a while but I didn't think it was that bad. Anyways, he prescribed Nexium 40mg 1x/day and Ranitidine 300mg at bedtime. I'm to lay off fatty foods and nothing to eat after 7pm. I'm to do this for 30 days and go back to see him. It sounds like this might be what a couple of you have so maybe this will help. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Started on omeprazole 20 mg daily, eventually went up to 40 mg daily plus ranitidine 150 mg daily. Still very frequent discomfort. Now on Nexium and ranitidine 150 BID. I think this is some heartburn but never really have burning or taste of acid in my throat. Can't tell what makes it worse or better except walking seems to make it worse. Had abdominal ultrasound. Normal except prominence of pancreatic duct, 3-4 mm.
Avatar n tn THIS WAS THE MAGIC BULLET! 75mg of Ranitidine (Zantac)----one first thing in the morning and one before dinner at night, and the arrhythmias WENT AWAY COMPLETELY. Your results may vary, so please don't take this as medical advice--I just wanted to let you and the group know (and the MD's and cardiologists if they are reading this) that there is a definite connection between digestive tract acid, vagal nerve stimulation (or destimulation) and heart arrhythmias.
Avatar n tn The doctor who performed the endo said my esophagus was totally healed and I could stop taking the Nexium. I did and my symptoms returned within a few days. I tried ranitidine - no help. Finally it was so bad I asked my MD to put me back on Nexium. I have tried stopping the Nexium several times. I've tried Prilosec OTC. It helped while I was actually on it, but once the 14 day course was finished my symptoms returned after 2 days.
Avatar f tn RX strength nexium at 40 mg/day and nefidipine ER at 30mg/day and over the counter ranitidine 150 mg and famotidine 20 mg once in the morning. i often take the otc in the late afternoon if needed. i have had non-alcohol hepatitis c for decades and am aware of the nexium warning regarding use with liver disease. every now and then i take a break from the nexium and double up on the otc meds. i then have some mild symptoms that are manageable but only when i take a break from the nexium.
