Avatar f tn I'm thinking of trying Zoloft for my gad/pd. No real depression, just anxiety. I've been on Effexor for about 1 month and it doesn't seem to be working. It also gives me tremors and night sweats. I was on Lexapro for many years then it pooped out. I did very well on Lexapro. My anxiety has been a daily battle for the past few months. I exercise, do yoga, go to therapy, on meds to no avail. Has anyone had success on Zoloft for severe anxiety? What about side effects?

266195 tn?1215314011 the withdrawals afterwards were horrific, so they put me on zanax . I have been on Prozac for depression for 6 months, which was well under control until I was given steroids(prednisolone).. I have been told I will slowly get better and I m not taking zanax every day, as it is ver addictive. Try to take it easy, remember it will gradually go away and hang in there...it is very distressing and Doctors do NOT give enough warning re the dangers of prednisolone.
Avatar f tn Hi Have been taking a magnesium supplement for a week now and my anxiety has completely disappeared. Have suffered with anxiety and depression for 20 years tried all sorts of meds and taking magnesium has made me feel normal again. Have had a vegetarian diet for the past 20 years which could explain my low magnesium levels.
Avatar n tn There is no scientific reason for anyone diagnosed with depression to be given psychiatric drugs for it as there is no proven link between depression and brain chemistry to date.
Avatar m tn Other strange things happen like my chest will tighten up when i yawn, and have this feeling run through my body which i guess is supposed to be a good feeling but i think its far from that. Do people who take ssri's for depression get that same feeling when it works?Probably doesnt make sense but its in no way enjoyable for me.I end up stopping them after a few months as it gets to be too much.Never end up feeling any better, still the constant brain fog and anxiety.
Avatar f tn i'm not a doctor, and certainly not yours, so i can't tell you what you should take, but prozac is doing wonders for me, and it's had great reviews especially in younger people...i trust it now. sorry about the job counceling ****, that has to be a pain, but i'd be lying if i said i had never done the same thing...talk to a close friend, family member or even talk to your dog...
354706 tn?1279474395 I was just talking to my mum’s close friend on my mum’s emotional situation yesterday. Both of us agreed that while she was still not totally well, she had made significant improvements. Half an hour later, I received a SMS message from my sister saying that my mum’s depression was not getting any better and we may need ‘formal’ help like seeking the help of a psychiatrist instead of relying on free counseling from support groups. I was pretty perturbed by my sister’s comments.
Avatar f tn Individual herbs aren't how herbalism is practiced, instead combinations are used. It would be something directly for anxiety, something for depression, something for your adrenals, possibly something to clean out you liver, exercise, meditation, diet. It's very unlikely one herb will solve such complex problems. It's more of a process. Damiana is generally used for male energy.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if anyone has been on birth control pills and have suffered from anxiety or depression issues? I have been on the pill for 11yrs now and cant take how I am feeling anymore. I went on the pill for irregular periods, but since then I have been feeling blah, libido has decreased severely, I have sinus problems- I found out I have no allergies- so I think it is related to axiety, I worry constantly about everything; I get so nervous I get light headed sometimes.
Avatar m tn I have struggled on and off with anxiety and depression for most of my life. Up until I was about 19 I was able to hide my anxiety and at that point my depression was not too bad. During my sophmore year of college the anxiety developed into panic attacks. My first panic attack landed me in the ER...I thought I was having a heart attack or stroke. (I know many have been there...and even though the Dr. says you are physically healthy...

569026 tn?1216985893 Taken several SSRIs in the past for anxiety. Adderall XR for ADD, Wellbutrin too. I have been seeing a therapist for about 4 months and he had me go for a psychiatry evaluation a few days ago. The two concrred that I am "complex" and could be a combination of BiPolar 2, Adult ADD and even...Borderline Personality Disorder (god I hate that name). Anyhow, one of the main symptoms we all agreed upon was the mood swings.
Avatar f tn i would say lamital is the best med out there (though i didn't tolerate it myself) not because it doesn'tcause weight gain or with the least side effects, but it'speculiarity concerning depression, because being bipolar you must have periods of depression (the majority) but lamictal lifts depression. i am on seroquel for example and i find it the best for me. if i start questionning diabetes, withdrawal symptoms, cataract, weight gain, i will not take it. give it a try for sure.
Avatar f tn On about the 2nd day after the injection I had intense itching (this is a normal side effect for pain sufferers so I guess it's the same for itching) but then nothing for 3 weeks....we shall see how long this lasts. I was told that I could get up to 3 shots per year but that's it. Another option the doctor suggested was trying some sort of neurostimulation device that can be implanted to block the itch signal to the brain. There's a 5 day trial period at first.
1241735 tn?1281753812 I went through stages of being ok going out if i had someone for company and distraction, to not going out unless was going with someone,in their vehicle so didnt have to face people on foot,or public transport, etc, and so i could get to there, and back home to my sanctuary as quickly as possible,to this now where i make any excuse poss to not go out, even if it were to be going by car even, even now to the point that my boyfriend most of the time gets my money out, and then puts it into his bank
Avatar f tn I have had this before and was medicated with Prozac that worked very well for me. However, I am currently breastfeeding my 7 month old daughter. I would like to continue to breastfed her, but I feel that I need the medicine to function and be the best mother for her. Does anyone have experience taking an antidepressant while breastfeeding? I have been doing my research, but coming up with mixed reviews. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Prozac worked great for everything else for the past 11 years. I have been on Wellbutrin for 3 days and have severe insomnia, constipation and dizziness. Will these side effects last long? Will they go away eventually?
Avatar f tn Hi Patricia, I've read a few of your previous messages about experiencing depression, or post-partum depression. It's very important that you get help for yourself. Please stop thinking about "what if this happens?" because without help, you may spiral downward and something really bad WILL happen. They're not going to take away your baby because of PPD. Even if they did, it would be temporary until you get medication and help. Most likely they'll just get you help for depression.
1655289 tn?1326046489 Meanwhile, you can start looking up therapists in your area on a site called Yelp. You can find customer reviews on this site for just about anything...restaurants, retailers, doctors, contractors etc. in your local area. It's a useful site that may help. Otherwise, start with one right out of the yellow pages and set up an initial appointment. You don't have to commit to the first one. You can shop around until you find someone who you are comfortable with.
521840 tn?1348844371 Unfortunately, many psychologists can no longer afford to participate with insurance companies or Medicaid/Medicare. The reasons for this include low reimbursement rates, frequency of denied payment for services, and the burden of insurance related paperwork. While the situation is problematic, there is no reason to assume that you can not get the care you need. On the bright side, if you can take the time and energy to search, you have a good chance of finding someone who can help.
469720 tn?1388149949 Suffice to say that I encourage all of us who are on medications or who have family members on them to monitor the meds closely and ask for periodic reviews about how effective they are, what medications can be decreased or eliminated. 1540869 tn?1351217613 THIS is my biggest problem and has always been since my anxiety and depression and mood swings started, it is for that very reason that I have obsessive disturbing thoughts. What shouuld I do?
Avatar f tn I'm SORRY but WHO the HELL created that youtube video?????????????? EVERY ONE of OUR bodies IS different! What works for some; doesn't for others. And as i'm stating my opinion (we all are entitled to our own) it's REALLY helped me. And i'm SORRY Cymbalta hasn't worked for some. I DO have REAL depression & Prozac made me a FLAT out physco, suicidal ***** from hell. Lexapro, Celexa & paxil DIDN"T work for me & i gained over 10 lbs. w/ a quickness. SO it's all INDIVIDUAL!

Avatar f tn So they made me think I was CRAZY So she gave me prozac and b/c the b/c made me sick so I stopped taking them and just kept going up in dose on the prozac and since it was helping w/the moods they also put me on lacmital for the moods.
Avatar m tn That doesn't mean you shouldn't be reluctant about 'over-prescribers'!! Ask for refferals, and read reviews and ask your wife for help for insight into those reviews as to why ppl. wrote what they did. If you can find a good dr. it will be well worth it in my opinion. I'm very thankful I did. Just to let you know though, a good dr. may take a while to get into, that's why you should start looking now.
Avatar n tn I got my bipolar 2 diagnosis at the beginning of January, which is when I started the Wellbutrin and Lamictal. I took Prozac for a year starting in fall 2009 when I was diagnosed with depression. Other than that, I haven't taken any psych meds (I have Ambien and muscle relaxants, but they aren't for psych issues). How do I know so much then? I've done a metric **** ton of reading since then.
