i called y dr several times to let them know and she switched me to prisqu (some sis to prozac) b/c she thought it might be b/c prozac...after getting worse and ER trip and worse docs kept blowing me off as i was just exasterbating my symtoms of side effects....i finally goggled my meds on drug interactions and all these were MAJOR drug interactions causing something called serotonin syndrome or serotonin toxity...this can be fatal and i felt like i was going to die...
Nobody really knows long-term effects there are (if any) with antidepressants. However, Prozac is the oldest SSRI out there, and people have been on it 20+ years, with no serious long-term effects reported yet. In generally, the SSRI antidepressants appear to be very safe. Though their long-term effects have not been adequately studied. Being on Prozac for 2-3 years should have no lasting detrimental effects. I was on Prozac for 3 years, and I'm now on Lexapro for 2 years.
I’ve seen two cardiologist who have done several tests and told my me heart is fine and that it is most likely anxiety, but there’s always that fear that they are wrong and it’s not anxiety. Regardless, my therapists thinks I should try Prozac and I want to try it since my anxiety and depression are so bad, but I’m scared it will increase my PVCs or be bad for my heart. Do any of you have PVCs and take Prozac? What are your experiences?

Has anyone else been pregnant and on percocets10 mg and Prozac? I'm new to this and I hope people do not judge, I am scared enough and don't need criticism but would like to hear from other mothers who were in the same situation and how there baby's turned out. I have a 6 year old now who I had taken tylenol3 and Zoloft with during the 2nd and 3rd trimester and he was perfect.
ve tried Prozac, klonopin and CBT in the past and they were all helpful. I was doing better as of a few years ago so I stopped the meds (except klonopin as needed) and was doing great. Just a few weeks ago I started experiencing really bad anxiety again and went to my psychiatrist. He prescribed 10mg Prozac, but it made me extremely sick and "out of it" so I stopped taking it. I am now back in cognitive behavioral therapy and hoping that helps.
Hello. I am hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. I am 39 and have known I have very mild Mitral Valve Prolapse for years. It caused me NO problems whatsoever, then one day WHAM panic attacks and anxiety. Long story short, after several trips to the ER, cardiologists visits, Internal Medicine docs, psychiatrist. They all conclude Panic disorder/Anxiety. I have since learned that many times people with MVP are more prone to panic and anxiety.
I am able to live with my attacks (which can get really bad at times) and I actually have a fear of taking meds. I think the only thing I will take is a child's dose of tylenol only when I have a fever or migrane. I have discovered that taking Vitamin B Complex capsules have helped reduce my stress and anxiety levels. Also, I still love taking Flinstone vitamins, on top of the vit B complex. I feel great when I don't miss out in taking one a day.
The Dr said this would go away once the prozac fully kicked in , but its been a month and nothing. I know the prozac is helping but i have ups and downs all day. If I sit at home by myself for an hr or two i will feel depression and or anxiety. I guess my question is..... do you think that I should request a higher mg of prozac (20) or keep giving the 10mg pills a try? I hate having to try so hard to not feel depressed.
Hi i'm on Prozac and trazodone if you start on a low dose of trazodone it shouldn't be an issue and there really is no interaction with trazodone and Prozac because I've been on trazodone and Prozac for years and I've never had a problem you just have to take it like maybe you're better off just taking half a tablet or something

I was depressed before the pills, during the pills and now after. I know I suffer from depression and have been on Prozac for a few years which I'm tapering down and getting off of. I know the blahs are all part of this process. I was so proud of myself for the first few days and to be perfectly honest, the WD I was so terrified of just didn't happen for me.
First of all, you shouldn't just stop taking antidepressants without discussing it with your doctor. Fortunately, you weren't on the Prozac long enough and you were at a very low dose, so you didn't experience the nasty effects of going cold turkey off these types of meds.
Prozac can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to reach "steady state" in your body. That is the point at which it will begin to help you.
I have been on and off prozac for 4 years and i now am experiencing heartburn. I take 20mg at night because it makes me dizzy but i dont get the heartburn until the afternoon the next day. I was wondering is it safe to take ranitidine 150mg effervescent? I took it all the time when needed before being back on prozac and it works i was wondering does it cause any side affect?
m to stick this out and continue vomiting and in severe pain and risk losing even more weight or stop it and return to the Zoloft and potentially cause serotonin syndrome which I am terrified of. My appointment with her is not until next week and I'm not even sure if I want to go and see her after this. Thanks.

I posted in the other forum (pregnancy) about being put on prozac 10 mg. I have taken your great advice and am doing yoga and breathing exercises to deal with my mild anxiety instead. But heres my question to put my mind at ease. I took the prozac at 28 weeks for about a week. It wasnt right for me and I was too worried I was doing harm to the baby. After my 3 miscarriages last year I am always worried now.
got a new dr in may cause old one retired he had me try to up prozac and trouble with that so his asso. had me totally stop the prozac and go on wellbutrin sr 150am and pm,,,,after a week i was having prozac withdrawals so back on prozac i went and still on wellbutrin to be honest i dont know if my depression is something else cause neither brought me up or were stimulating..my new dt thinks i have slight add..anywayas i have been tapering off the prozac 10 mg a week per dr...
yesterday I went dr for anxiety and not sleeping at night. told her about my husband had been on Xanax for about 3 yrs and I have no in, so when my sleeplessness started , and anxiety I took one of his Xanax at times and some times I would have to take 2mg so she put me on 10 mg of prazac and 1mg of Xanax . my question is I scared to death of the anti-depressant because I have heard good people doing bad things on them I told her I was afraid of them but she insisted I take both.
