Avatar n tn Medication. It won't cure the migraines, but if you get on a regime of taking migraine medication daily, it will prevent future migraines. It actually seems to work fairly well. Ask your GP/Neurologist about taking Topamax or Propranolol. They'll start you at a low dosage, and then increase it every few weeks until it is at a level where you feel comfortable and nearly headache-free!
Avatar n tn m trying to fix my problem but i want to know if the combination of coke and propranolol is dangerous. Please provide me with an answer. All I could get off the net was that one should avoid cocaine while taking propranolol . Is combining propranolol (beta-blocker) with cocaine dangerous and why?

This medication worked really well for me. It helped ease my mind, enough to where I felt more comfortable leaving the house and being productive. It completely got rid of my embarrassingly shaky hands. I was so happy. Then, I noticed my asthma was being severely effected.

Avatar f tn Hello!. Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) associated with propranolol therapy are similar to other lipophilic beta blockersBeta blockers, including propranolol, have an additive effect with other drugs which decrease blood pressure, or which decrease cardiac contractility or conductivity. So the short story is that"yes"it probably is the beta blocker. But saying that see how you get on with them,it will take at least one- two weeks to really settle down.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.

Other combinations of pain killers with anti sickness medicines like domperidone and metoclopramide. The prescription medicines like triptans, rizatriptan and zolmitriptan come in various forms like nasal sprays, injections and tablets that dissolve on the tongue and can be used for you since nausea and vomiting is an issue.

If you are not comfortable with the care that she is receiving, it would be important to consider a second opinion, especially one from a pediatric electrophysiologist, a pediatric cardiologist who specializes in electrical problems with the heart.

Avatar f tn My OB put me back in propranolol today and said it should help with the palpitations but I’m concerned because my heart rate seems really low to me and I know it lowers it to help blood pressure. Also I’m nursing I was told that it palpitations could be caused by that?? I have no family history of heart failure, disease or anything so I’m not sure if that makes a difference. What could cause all of these?

It tends to easily cross the blood-brain barrier, and may induce depression or worsen pre-existing depression. Others in this class carry a much lower incidence of psychic disturbance and few or no drug-drug interactions (Atenolol, Metoprolol, Nadolol and Timolol) are four examples. There are other benefits.
