Avatar f tn I slowly got off propranolol 2 weeks ago after my surgery for hyperthyroid and after i did i starting getting really bad anxiety attacks, this whole week has been horrible, from day to night i havnt been able to relax. How long does it take for someones body to adjust off being used to propranolol? Any one else have this problem?
687729 tn?1397992727 I have been taking Klonopin and Propranolol for years, being treated for a benign tremor and migraines. I'm tired of feeling dopey all the time and I have quit the Klonopin and cut my Propranolol dosage in half. I've been getting leg cramps and headaches (not full-blown migraines, but nagging headaches that make me want to go back on the Klonopin). Can I expect these symptoms to disappear?
Avatar f tn The problem with going off of meds is that you have to taper off then, taper up on something else. If your heartrate isn't going up now then, you need to weigh out which you want. Like I said before it takes time for some side effects to go away-and you may not have given it enough time. It also really makes sense that not smoking even after 6mnths would still affect your mood-it can take a long time to get over that.
Avatar n tn Please make sure you have an access to blood pressure measurement once you start the new medicines, just to be cautious. I hope you have decided to taper off Propranolol with your doctor's review. It is important to inform your doctor about it.
Avatar m tn It is just a suggestion but I think you should get honest with your doctor and ask him to help you with a good taper plan. If you taper it will help lessen the withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar n tn I also take the Propranolol twice a day for my heart. The Propranolol was prescribed for my heart and never for anything else. Now I am currently taking Propranolol in the morning along with Paxil, at night I take Propranolol again. I take the Klonopin is taken as needed twice a day.
Avatar f tn Why do you want to discontinue your medication. Regularly meds should be weaned down.

Avatar n tn Is it less addictive and easier to taper off of in the end? Alll I know is i feel such a roller coaster throughout the day with the xanax coming in and out of me- including at 2 am in the morning when I need to get up and take another .5 xanax because the akathisia is still bad. I was wondering your thoughts on this. By the way- I am only 107 pounds- so to me I think I am taking a lot of xanax.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar m tn Propranolol is not on the list of contraindicated drugs for Harvoni. Here is the list: http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/ledipasvir-sofosbuvir,harvoni-index.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed an increase in propranolol for migraines and anxiety.I was taking 120mg in the morning(extended release) and my doctor has raised the dose to 160mg. I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime. Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Follow your doc recommendations. but, I imagine you don't have to because you are only switching from one beta-blocker to another. So, you are essentially not lifting the beta-blockade.
Avatar m tn i am 28 years of age,i had a problem of trembling my fingers of both hand, specialy when i write it was more difficult, then i consulted a neurologist so he checked me and prescribed me propranolol 20 ml to take 3times a day but i was affraid to take 3times but i took that only once a day as i was asked by someone if i continue that much i will have to use it forever.when i take that i feel much better.
Avatar f tn If any one can help answer my question, I would be so grateful. I have been hospitalized in the ER three times in the past two weeks for bradycardia. All this suddenly started happening in the last two weeks. I start to feel weak, have a seizure, this last time, I fell down on the kitchen floor and hit my head pretty good. I am a 28 yr old female who has been on propranol for almost 4 years. I have a at home blood pressure monitor, that also checks my pulse and I do it religiously.
