Avatar n tn Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences. We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Avatar n tn I read Sertraline reacts with Propranolol. It makes Propranolol more toxic and can give me low BP and bradycardia. Recently my BP was a bit high (140/90) and pulse rate was 72. Shall I take the psychiatric medicines and how should I schedule the medications without suffering a lot?
Avatar f tn ll feel sedate for a few days to weeks, but many people enjoy that, some have used prescription propranolol just for anxiety. You mentioned concern of feeling shortness of breath, what exactly caused you to focus on that?
Avatar f tn How long does withdrawal from beta blockers usually last? I don't have any money to refill my propranolol prescription and haven't had it in 4 months. I was taking it for arrhythmias and high BP (160mg XR propranolol with 180mg XR diltiazam daily) and when I ran out 4 months ago I just kept taking the Dilt. hoping the symptoms were just withdrawals and that they would go away... Symptoms are what you would think, I'm just curious if to someone with similar conditions (i.
Avatar m tn Hi, I've now wanted to talk about a major part of my anxiety that I feel has impacted my life and has made me become reliant on propranolol. You see, ever since my anxiety got worse I have developed cardiophobia. I started to become obsessed with my heart and worried non stop about heart attacks and disease. So much that I took more propranolol tablets and became addicted to heart rate apps. Now I no longer use the apps but I feel like the propranolol are what's keeping me stable.
Avatar f tn He does not drink and has never taken drugs, untilt his event. This was not his prescription of propranolol, it was a family memebers. can this be drug induced hepatitis, can it be reversed, or is it usually permanent damage. 636250 tn?1227369694 I believe many people buy drugs from Canada to save money, but I have my doubts about the quality of anything that can be ordered over the Internet without a prescription...assuming a prescription is required in the US. Again, I have not experience, I have prescription insurance and purchase all through my insurance supplier. I have purchased generics from Walmart (there are others) that were very inexpensive. Warfarin was what I purchased.
Avatar n tn the dr told me i could start taking propranolol -10 mg 3 times daily instead. i dont know what to do. i dont know how my body will react to a new prescription. i cant afford to take a chance to have a panic attack in front of other people. i dont know which one will work the best for the long hours i will be working.
Avatar m tn I did just get off taking an antibiotic for a facial infection, and take clonazepam and Propranolol for anxiety. All this rash stuff is driving me crazy. No tests were done, just a visual by the MD. I tried Aveeno Cream and bath wash for the posion ivy rash, helps a little, but the rashes return. What's going on ?
Avatar m tn As with any prescription drug, the side effects vary from person to person. But yes, weight gain is quite common with Propranolol.
Avatar n tn t think this will be enough for my presentation. I talked to my doctor and got a .25mg prescription for Xanax. Does anyone here have experience combining the two? Was it more effective than propanolol alone? How long before my presentation should I take both pills? Thanks in advance.

Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
1494095 tn?1288784877 I recently posted that I was on propranolol 2x day for the heart palpitations associated with Graves Disease, I have been on the meds for 4 days (today is day # 4), not only has this not stopped the palpitations but they've INCREASED, and the discomfort i causes is getting much harder to bear. How long should it take before the propranolol begins working?
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn Hello. So I have afib. And I was prescribed propranolol and Cartia. Lately I’ve been extremely dizzy. The doctor told me to go off Cartia and to increase propanalol. That was just yesterday. I feel better but still a bit dizzy. How long before the dizziness will stop?
Avatar m tn My heart rate remains a little high and i want to take propranolol in a very small dose like 8 mg a day in divoded doses. I am scared that my bp would lower and cause probs. Can i take it???
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar m tn Anyone ever travled to Mexico for HSV-2 Suppressive Therapy Medication? I've been thinking about going to one of the border towns to buy some medication specifically Acyclovir. I'm working full time and am covered through my insurance for prescription meds and Dr's visits, but later on in the future will need to cut my full time job to possibly part time or less as I will be starting nursing school and willl not have the time to work as much with my time for school.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar n tn It is far worse when in a social situation or when doing a task like cutting veggies or writing, not all the time, but sometimes. The typical treatment for this is propranolol (a beta blocker) and if there is anxiety along with it, then clonazepam too. The propranolol will help with the shakes and also anxiety, but if the anxiety is more pronounced and/or with panic attacks then my guess would be that the doctor would prescribe clonazepam with it.
612551 tn?1450022175 I have used Toprol, Metoprolol (longest, several years) and now Atenolol for the past year. I moved from Toprolol and Slow Release beta blockers to generic to lower cost. I was looking at Propranolol which I see is a "non-selective" beta blocker, and it may therefore have an unwanted sleep disturbance side-effect. Yet, it is prescribed, I read, to lower nightmare problems by lowering the higher heart rate and adrenalin associated with nightmares. ..
1243620 tn?1274790697 The degree of reduction depends upon the dosage, and if the drug is well-tolerated. Propranolol has no effect on perception or the thought process - its only potential advantage is to block the physical manifestations of panic. If you have many physical features accompanying your A/P, Propranolol would likely serve as a useful adjunct to either an antidepressant or anxiolytic.
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
