Avatar n tn As Per pubmed The effects of diltiazem hydrochloride, a vasodilator often used to treat hypertension, and beta-blockers (pindolol and propranolol hydrochloride) on lipid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism were assessed by measuring serum levels of total cholesterol, high-density-lipoproteins (HDL)-cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose in patients taking these drugs for three months.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
727090 tn?1268839348 Your heart may be more depressed because of the propranolol, its metabolism, etc. I would not be concerned about it at all, again, as long as there are no symptoms or low blood pressure.
Avatar m tn Free T3 is the biologically active thyroid hormone that largely regulates metabolism. Free T4 is a prohormone available for conversion to FT3. Your FT4 is at the top of the range, suggesting that perhaps you are still somewhat hyper. You really need to also test for FT3. More importantly please tell us about any symptoms you have currently.
968908 tn?1274871115 t want to combine Amitriptyline with Propranolol, given that they both undergo hepatic metabolism by CYP2D6 (a liver enzyme). Propranolol can increase Amitriptyline plasma levels. Additionally, given the alpha-1 agonist property of Amitriptyline, the anti-hypertensive efficacy of Propranolol may be compromised. With Mirtazapine, the effects are additive. With Amitriptyline, the effects are inverse, or in other words, the two drugs tend to cancel each other out.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last august and have been on propranolol and methimazole since. I was taking four methimazole and now my specialist increased it to 5 and that really makes me sad. I'm gaining weight and feel so awful about myself. Yes i am feeling better which is worth alot but my hot flashes are insane. My pituitary gland is what the specialist refers to as "sleeping" and so I was wondering if you have any suggestions as to how to wake it up.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.

Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if having your Gallbladder removed slows down your metabolism? or does it speed it up? What have you experienced?
Avatar f tn If you really want to kick-start your metabolism, you may also try dividing your meals up into smaller portions that you eat more often throughout the day. Every time you eat, it helps your metabolism rise, so as strange as it may sound, eating frequently can help you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. Take care!
1203175 tn?1265553335 Anyone know how to kick start your metabolism so you start losing pounds, other than weight loss medications? Will not use those.
1397290 tn?1357777871 Calorie-intake should be according to your physical activity. 2800-3000 is quite a lot, which if you don't gain of it, you should perhaps seek professional aid.
Avatar n tn So i was recently given propranolol 4x10mg daily for anxiety and was wondering if i would experience weight gain on such a low dose? I would also like to lose weight, but with me not being able to get my heart in target zone, im wondering will i find it hard to lose weight? Also how safe is exercising/weight lifting on this medication. Feels really weird that my heart does not pound when running!
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar m tn Propranolol is not on the list of contraindicated drugs for Harvoni. Here is the list: http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/ledipasvir-sofosbuvir,harvoni-index.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
Avatar n tn Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences. We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed an increase in propranolol for migraines and anxiety.I was taking 120mg in the morning(extended release) and my doctor has raised the dose to 160mg. I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime. Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime? Thank you.
