Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar n tn What is the basis for saying the patient is euthyroid?
Avatar f tn Why do you want to discontinue your medication. Regularly meds should be weaned down.
Avatar n tn I think I may not need to take it today or even just one. I have heard that Propranolol, beta blocker, can also create insomnia. However, I still can’t sleep. I am rotating between Benadryl, motion sickness med with Meclizine, and Zzzquil to avoid tolerance for high dosage of the meds. I was able to sleep like 2-5 hours when I took them separately. I took Ambien once, but I will reserve that for special occasion like my 20th anniversary last week.
Avatar n tn 25 of Thyroxine due to the fact that the initial dose of 100 put me into a spin of Hyper and I felt like I was having a heart attack, lost 13 lbs, insomnia, etc. etc. Given Propranolol (sp? sorry) for heart rate and anxiety. OK, so for the last 4 nights, as soon as I go to sleep I get these spikes of High Blood Pressure. At first I thought they were low blood sugar spells. My endo gave me a glucose meter to test and that was not the case.
Avatar n tn I switched to the klonipin on friday and already I feel better than with the xanax- I feel much more even throughout the day. Also- I am taking Propranolol, 60 mg- started it 3 weeks ago, and no change yet- however, I don't know how much the ups and downs of the xanax contributed to that. How long does one need to stay on propranolol- until the symptoms subside?
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm dealing with tachycardia arrhytmia since more than 2 years now. My Cardilogist at first said it was dysautonomia and POTS and blame also my severe anxiety and was put on a beta blocker, propranolol 20 mg day. At first it was working on to stop the tachycardia but with time the effect wear off and had to increase my dose and then it was lowering too much my blood pressure so my Cardiologist switch me on another beta blocker...
612551 tn?1450022175 I have used Toprol, Metoprolol (longest, several years) and now Atenolol for the past year. I moved from Toprolol and Slow Release beta blockers to generic to lower cost. I was looking at Propranolol which I see is a "non-selective" beta blocker, and it may therefore have an unwanted sleep disturbance side-effect. Yet, it is prescribed, I read, to lower nightmare problems by lowering the higher heart rate and adrenalin associated with nightmares. ..
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
4155003 tn?1351614311 ive bin on propranolol for about 12weeks & weaned myself down to 10ml every other day, i took 10ml propranolol 52hours ago & not going to take another one as im ready to stop. when will it be fully out my system?
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
534360 tn?1234721915 Most likely it is the beta blocker making you feel better, espcially if you were pretty anxious. I'm very glad you were checking your BP. That was a crazy high daily dose, even for an average sized person. Just PLEASE make sure you are communicating with your doctor about what's going on. Is the vomiting completely new after starting the meds? Could be a side effect. It's not excessive right? Seems like it was like a one time thing? Keep an eye on it.
Avatar m tn You will need to go easy with your stress levels, and follow a schedule for your balanced diet, regular exercise, adequate sleep and stop smoking, alcohol and coffee if any. Insomnia could be due to various causes like excess noise, too hot, stressful situations, anxiety depression. it may be secondary to chronic pain syndromes etc, acid reflux disease, etc, related to any medicines that you might be taking like anti asthma, stimulants, anti hypertensive, etc.
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar n tn I believe the drugs caused a tremor I temporarily had in my hand (prescribed propranolol for 1.5yrs), hyperhydrosis (4yrs), and insomnia (recent). I have been on any one of these drugs for around 7yrs and look forward to getting off soon. As far as my eyes are concerned, the only thing I have at the moment is dry eye. However, I get tics in both my upper and lower eyelids on both eyes which tend to come and go. Some days they are constant and then some days, nothing.
Avatar m tn Propranolol is not on the list of contraindicated drugs for Harvoni. Here is the list: http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/ledipasvir-sofosbuvir,harvoni-index.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
Avatar n tn Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences. We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar f tn How long have you been taking meds? Sometimes they can take weeks before you feel the benefits. Insomnia's a great friend of anxiety/depression, it seems to always come with them. The fear of insomnia is the main cause of it I believe. If you try to forget about sleep it will be very hard at first, but in time, you probably will accept that nothing much wrong is happening to you. Of course you'll feel tired ~ but it won't kill you or send you nuts!
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed an increase in propranolol for migraines and anxiety.I was taking 120mg in the morning(extended release) and my doctor has raised the dose to 160mg. I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime. Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime? Thank you.
Avatar m tn Actually, Zoloft is supposed to have the lowest occurrence of cardiac side effects of any SSRI. How old are you? Are you in decent shape? I wouldn't worry myself too much about that one. As far as helping you sleep, it does cause insomnia in some people (all ssris can). I am currently weaning off this drug myself because it just didn't work well for me. Insomnia hasn't been much of a problem for me with this one. I too get those anxious/adrenalin feelings you speak of.
Avatar f tn Hi sorry to hear about your anxiety. I too have developed health anxiety after the death of my mother and it is truly awful, in10 months I've gone from happy to anxious 24/7. Do you know what triggered your anxiety or is it just a generalised anxiety?
