Avatar f tn I know propranolol is used for PTSD...but what should I ask for in the pharmacy and what is the dosage? Are there any serious effect if taken without proper knowledge?
Avatar n tn I started taking such medication since then, and recently I have got to know that the main compound, propranolol, present in these medicine pills, is also used to treat PTSD which is a cure for the said, by erasing memory of the patient. i am just concerned for the fact that the prolonged use of propranolol might cause any sort of memory loss to me. Kindly advise me in this regard.
Avatar n tn Hi James, Another thing you might want to read up on is fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) - alcohol can cause damage to the evolving brain and trauma has been shown to have effects on brain functioning. This could have started you out in life with some limitations on yoru capacity to attend in a complex environment ( one with lots of other stimulation going on) other people do not have, whose mothers did not drink during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I usually have high blood pressure. I'm on propranolol to control it, a very low dose of propranolol at that, but for the past few days, my blood pressure has been exceptionally low. My heart rate too, for example this morning my blood pressure is 112/66 heart rate 61. It's been like this the past few days, heart rate as low as 54 and blood pressure as low as 100/59. What's up with this?
Avatar m tn The beta blockers (Propranolol) helped a bit, basically stopped my heart beating so fast and getting panicky. The diazepam (Valium) well that did chill me out but its so addictive and the next day I felt like i was in a drug hang over until I took more. My shinning light and saviour Citalopram, it's used for depression and panic attacks.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn A GP that specialises in headaches suggested Propranadol in 2013, I have tried other things he suggested first so I explained this to my new regular GP & he said I could give them a try.........no checks what so ever! Anyway I got a BP test done at the chemist & read all I could & have decided to start taking them, I am on 20mg twice a day intending to work up to 40 mg twice a day.
4155003 tn?1351614311 ive bin on propranolol for about 12weeks & weaned myself down to 10ml every other day, i took 10ml propranolol 52hours ago & not going to take another one as im ready to stop. when will it be fully out my system?
8909441 tn?1400551294 Little history, so I was diagnosed with ptsd, bipolar, and anxiety with agoraphobia. My pcp gave me risperidone 2mg and hydroyzine 25mg (3 times daily or as needed). I told my psych I didn't want the risperidone because of already existing obesity issues and I told her the hydroy was just drying out my nose and making me feel like I had a sinus infection all the time. So she gives me ativan 0.5mg (one a day), Prazosin 2 ( 1 @ night).
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar f tn I’ve had a load of stress plus PTSD issues, radical hysterectomy done and a week in the hospital with a C-diff infection. Stress accumulates I understand if we don’t deal with it and can affect your heart. I have a therapist now. Thank you for the website! You sound like a very kind person and I’m finding this website a very encouraging place. Now to jump on my bicycle, plug in a mountain bike tour video and workout. Thank you so much!
Avatar m tn Either I have two newly-developed hardened bodies near the base of my penis, or they've been there all along and I never noticed them before. They do not seem to be structured in a vein-like manner; rather, it's two symmetrical lumps, on of either side of the center-line of my penis...the only word I can think to use is like a "buckle" across my penis from left to right, or vice versa. If I squeeze either of the lumps with any force, it is quite painful.
Avatar m tn Propranolol is not on the list of contraindicated drugs for Harvoni. Here is the list: http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/ledipasvir-sofosbuvir,harvoni-index.
Avatar n tn But I used to get panic attacks in form of tachycardia and palpitations. I have been taking Propranolol for last 3 months and have tapered it off to 5 mg 2 times a day. Because of the persistent symptoms of panic attacks, my endocrinologist referred me to a psychiatrist. She diagnosed me as having Mixed Anxiety Depression. She prescribed me: 25 mg Sertraline - Once in a day 0.
Avatar f tn I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime. Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I had a sweatshirt on and a blanket over my legs but was still feeling chilly, and the ringing in my ears would not go away. I sat in my living room attempting to distract my self for a few hours while the ringing went from quite to loud every few minutes or so. This lasted for a couple hours and eventually went away completely and I was able to go back to sleep. I am not quite sure what exactly is going on or what it is. I would love any insight into this. PS.
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar n tn When I go to bed at night I have a racing heart, and when I wake up I have a racing heart. I am not thinking about anything in particular. I do however love the fact that I can sleep, as I feel like it is the only peace that I can get. The rest of the day is a fight from this uneasy feeling that I carry around. It’s a feeling of not feeling like you. It’s maddening. I take 5mg of valium twice a day, but feel like it has worn off.
Avatar f tn Treatment with both propranolol and fluvoxamine may result in slower heart rate and low blood pressure. Your doctor may need to adjust the dosage. Otherwise, clonazepam can be taken together with propranolol.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar f tn I have been hospitalized in the ER three times in the past two weeks for bradycardia. All this suddenly started happening in the last two weeks. I start to feel weak, have a seizure, this last time, I fell down on the kitchen floor and hit my head pretty good. I am a 28 yr old female who has been on propranol for almost 4 years. I have a at home blood pressure monitor, that also checks my pulse and I do it religiously. My pulse has always been 65 to 80.

1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar m tn Is it in general dangerous to take Beta Blocker (Propranolol) not in regular basis but whenever palpitation occurs? https://en.wikipedia.
