I know propranolol is used for PTSD...but what should I ask for in the pharmacy and what is the dosage?
Are there any serious effect if taken without proper knowledge?
I started taking such medication since then, and recently I have got to know that the main compound, propranolol, present in these medicine pills, is also used to treat PTSD which is a cure for the said, by erasing memory of the patient. i am just concerned for the fact that the prolonged use of propranolol might cause any sort of memory loss to me. Kindly advise me in this regard.
sometimes Tenex is also used in conjunction with stimulants to help control ADHD symptoms....first I have heard of inderal (brand name for propranolol) being used but makes sense...Always to remember to ask your doctor any questions about your meds and health care...the only stupid questions are the ones not asked....Also beta blockers are also given to help control migraines to regulate fluxs in BP...not because too high but slight changes can trigger migraines...

Congrats on your 52 days! I'm around 43 days now off the Sub. I've been taking Citalopram (Celexa) for a couple months now for PTSD and it's great stuff. My Dr. switched me from Zoloft because it wasn't cutting it.
I can relate to the anxiety coming off Sub. I thought that I was going to have a mental break more than once.......
I also do take the beta-blocker pindolol which has kept my BP at 125/70 for years. Shrink says very occasional and use of propranolol on top of pindolol should not be a problem but I still have concerns which I will run by my GP. I actually did receive a call from my pharmacy pointing out the risk of a low BP problem.
So...I am wondering if anyone has used propranolol or has an educated opinion on both its use in ED and possible interactions.
Hi, Thank you for your question. Usually, propranolol (beta blocker) is suggested for prophylactic treatment of migraine. Acute or prompt treatment require over the counter pain killers and triptans. I used to take a slow-release Propranolol 80 mg every day, which caused severe tiredness and extreme fatigue, to the point that I was not able to think straight and sometimes could not even get out of bed. Once I needed an ambulance ride when I was ver sick recently before taking propranolol and my pressure was a scary 210/120. Grateful for medication. My pressure was 124/62 today. That 62 to 72 pulse was during moving boxes and climbing stairs.
I exercise ,mat type exercises, and do my stationary bike 3 times a day. No tobacco no alcohol and am on an anti inflammation and a Gout diet.
Only thing that I must be patient since my cardiologist is booked a month out.
4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.

He is going to put me on Clonidine 3x a day for 7 days. I also asked him to prescribe something for the diarrhea as well as the aches in pains. I am concerned that after getting off the pain meds completely I will be start experiencing the pain in my back again, but I will not want to get back on anything that strong or anything that is addictive. I am praying that I can get off these by just sticking it out with the clonidine.
