But cooking gluten free isn't any different from cooking with gluten unless you're making bread or cookies -- most foods don't contain gluten so you're already eating mostly gluten free unless all you eat is bread and pasta.

I have high antithyroglobulin 173 (<60 is normal) and may TSP is 3.36 (they say normal but I see under 2 as preferred). My free T3 is normal 1.07 (normal .7-1.8) free T4 3.36 (normal .4-4) thyroid perox. AB 57 (normal less than 60) I am puzzled by high folate numbers 17.8(normal 2.8-17) and very high iodine 280.
Avatar f tn Now, I go hyper every few weeks because I gave up gluten a few months ago. When you give up gluten, you could very well go hyper, as the stomach is now in better shape and able to process that T3. I cut my thyroid hormone down by 1/3 so far and maybe more drops on the way. One final note about adrenals. They can present hyper symptoms if they are left untreated. That's why I like Dr. Webb. He tests and treats them with up-to-date standards. I'm doing the 24 hour saliva test today.
Avatar m tn She was only on the glutten free diet for a couple of weeks, but her symptoms never changed when she ate wheat products...she has no pain, diarrhea... only nausea. I can not answer all of your questions about the marker....I do not believe they followed up with a gene test. They did not do extensive testing on the gallbladder that I recall. They did some bile reflux testing on the intestine and put her on some meds, but did not work.

Male My doctor has told me I need to move to a gluten-free diet....yikes!!! All my life (and that is a very long time--ha ha) I have generally eaten whatever I wanted to eat. This change to a GF diet seems like such a huge mountain to climb. I know there are many others who have had to change to a GF diet after a lifetime of eating what they wanted with little or no restrictions. How does a person even get started on a change like this? What do you do when you go out to eat at a restaurant?

I have purchased gluten free crakers, pasta, and bread so I'm eating some carbs. Does this feeling go away after your body adjusts? I have more brain fog than ever and I just feel so weak. What happens if my son's autism improves because of this diet but he goes back to consuming casein and gluten some day? Will his autistic symptoms reappear or have they been cured?

Sometimes I just need crackers, pasta, or a quick bar to grab as a snack. My favorite new find for crackers are Sweet Potato chips: Food should taste good brand. Favorite pasta is a Quinoa pasta: Quinoa Corporation. Favorite bar is Larabar: Small Planet Foods. Oskri Fiber Bar, Cashews and Cranberries is amazing and has 12 gram of fiber.

Also read every single label of everything you eat (things you wouldn't expect like soy sauce are not gluten free). Also don't eat out at any restaurants while you are trying the gluten free diet. Every time I cheat I don't feel so good. I don't have many of the digestive issues, but I feel sluggish, achy, have more allergies, and bloated. It's amazing all the info I've found online. I've even read that some people think gluten can trigger Graves'.

Avatar m tn My blood pressure peaked at 220/111, then dropped to around 160, after being diagnosed with three strikes, my B/P went higher and I was getting pretty ill, stopped all my meds, took up cycling, went gluten free and do stress meditation, my morning B/P is 120/70 night max is 150/85. I am 56 by the way. what I find interesting is you say you don't take much medicine and your B/P was 210/110, that is very dangerous B/P but is it wise to take meds when your other B/P is 120???
1413042 tn?1281770262 Can you llok at the lab sheet again and make sure these were just T3 and T4 tests? - or are they (hopefully) Free T3 and Free T4 tests? They could also be labeled as FT3 and Ft4 (which is another indicator of Free testing) I think before you eliminate anything you need to have all these tests done again - including the Ft3 - Ft4 - TSI Graves test - and they uptake scan of the thyroid to see what actually is going on.
268911 tn?1213744781 Read on the lable and if it says "wheat, barley, rye, flour, vinegar" it has gluten in it. It is also very common for people with Celiacs disease to also be lactose intollerant. Cut out all dairy and wheat products and see what happens. This will be a MAJOR life change for you. Baiscally you will be limited to fresh fruit and vegetables, beef, pork, chicken and fish.

I'm not sure what you've been reading, but I've not found anything that passes the 'sniff-test' for me research wise. A healthy diet is good for everyone. But unless someone has celiac disease or something similar, I see no compelling reason to favour this approach.

If you binge or return permanently to eating gluten you are going to feel some symptoms at first. It's like drinking (alcohol). If you stop for a while, one little glass of wine will send you for a loop. You have to re-introduce gluten slowly. My best advice to anyone new to Hashi's is to read Michael Pollen's books.

If it makes you feel better, then it's definitely worth doing. However, if you're doing it in hopes of "curing" Hashi's, I suspect you might be very disappointed. Many of us have not changed our diets at all. I went g/f for almost a year a few years ago (for reasons other than my Hashi's)...
