Avatar f tn ) Medication reactions can also cause significant resting tachycardia for me, but again this is usually not fleeting/transient and is only alleviated by some form of treatment or by waiting out the metabolism of the drug. Do you notice any other symptoms when this occurs? Hot flash? Flushing (redness in the face/ears/chest)? Tremulousness? Diarrhea? Anxiety? This may sound strange, but has any doctor ever told you to try coughing while it was happening?
Avatar m tn I actually spoke with the electrophysiologist that did my ablation after posting my question, and she told me she believes I have IST and that I should go back on the Propranolol for it. Of course I know that the ablation successfully treated my SVT, but since I've been having symptoms of IST both before and after the ablation, isn't it likely that they are independent of the procedure?
Avatar f tn How long does withdrawal from beta blockers usually last? I don't have any money to refill my propranolol prescription and haven't had it in 4 months. I was taking it for arrhythmias and high BP (160mg XR propranolol with 180mg XR diltiazam daily) and when I ran out 4 months ago I just kept taking the Dilt. hoping the symptoms were just withdrawals and that they would go away... Symptoms are what you would think, I'm just curious if to someone with similar conditions (i.
Avatar n tn i've been taking 10-40 mg at a time for inappropriate sinus tachycardia control (probably anxiety, but who knows). The propranolol seemed like a good choice since i also have headaches (kill 2 birds with 1 stone) but it seems to be having too much of a cerebral effect on me....
10894761 tn?1413637884 It's not dangerous to take a beta blocker. Also, 10 mg of propranolol is a very low dose. Don't worry about getting a slightly slower heart rate at night. On the other hand, an average of 81 isn't dangerously high, so you don't really have to take a beta blocker if you don't want to. It's up to you. What I would do (instead of spending money on seeing a cardiologist just for a second opinion) is to try propranolol for some weeks.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar n tn I've been given propranolol 10 mg to help control alleged SVT's or tachycardia, possibly topped off with a little anxiety.. What I'm wondering is , is it Okay / reasonable / safe / recommended to take this drug simply on as "as needed" basis...For example, can I take one before I go out of the house to last me, and just not take anymore for days, maybe take one a week, or 2 a day, mixing and matching....is it okay to treat this drug like that?
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm glad that the Lopressor (metoprolol) work great for you!!! Can I know why you take it? What I understand is that beta blocker have usually mild side-effects when they are give to people with high blood pressure... BUT in my case, my blood pressure is lower to normal only and rarely in the high range (only when i'm in a middle of a panic attack or in a situation where I feel trap).
Avatar f tn At this time my blood pressure was at a healthy level and I was not experiencing tachycardia without reason (ie exercise). The last time my blood pressure was recorded as healthy was in December. Not long after, on new years day, my father suffered a stroke* (albeit a minor one). This, in conjunction with the separation, was quite hard on me. At this time my sister began living at my mother's, as I remained with my father.
1413042 tn?1281770262 The endo has asked for another blood test in 2 weeks time. So, should I discontinue Propranolol or take it for 2 more weeks? Or try to wean off? Would there be any adverse effects if I stop it now? How much heart rate & BP is reduced by Propranolol? Will I get hypotension if I continue with Propranolol? Please suggest.

Avatar f tn Hi so I've been having tachycardia off and on for a few years. Sometimes I notice it more than others. I also have anxiety disorder. So I always enjoyed my morning coffee, but would limit myself to 1-3 cups. And never after noon. I LOVE my coffee. At times it would seem that I'd get fast heart rates that would be worse with activity or when standing up. I have a structurally normal heart. I've had every test in the book pretty much. I also have pvcs.
Avatar f tn I too have PVCs (and Long QT, occasional tachycardia, etc.). Metoprolol works for me, especially when I take it with a Super C vitamin that includes Vitamin D and zinc. The doc had tried me on Bystolic when I was in the hospital 2 years ago and it worked too. Glad you found something that helped you and hope that you're still doing well!
Avatar m tn I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (I worry I don't because i've been diagnosed without the title table test but my heart goes up 30 beats upon standing always). I am on Propranolol and have been having a weird symptom lately. Ill be sitting and my hearts 60 then ill stand and its 110 then within seconds of it going that high it immediately drops back down to around 80.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol, a beta blocker, for akathisia and anxiety. It works very well for anxiety. I think you may be having break-through depression and anxiety meaning it is working in spite of the drugs, not because of the drugs.
Avatar f tn When I first was treated for my tachycardia, propranolol was the first beta blocker my cardiologist tried. It is non-selective and crosses the blood brain barrier, so you might experience more symptoms with it (like fatigue) than you would one that is cardioselective, like metoprolol. What dose is your doctor starting you with? generally it's pretty low and if you notice symptoms that outweigh the benefits, prescriptions are easy to change. Why are you experiencing chest pain?
Avatar f tn I have been on 10 mg of propranolol 2x a day for 3 months for (POTS) Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia and I have a anxiety disorder that has been totally out of control again. My doctor wants me to go on 10mg lexapro I am very afraid of medication and was wondering whats the best time to take this medication morning or night and can you take these two together.
467126 tn?1283144858 my baby girl delivered in nov 2015 and i was on propranolol(inderal)for the last five months of pregnancy for bad tachycardia.it never happenwd in my last 2 pregnancies.since then im on round to cardiologists and physocologists and nobody seems to bother cuz as per them its in my head as all echo ecg etc came back normal..but recently on holter they caught SKIPPED beats but still they say its nothing ro worry about and suggested to have lipid profile.waiting for the results.
Avatar m tn The tachycardia is bad enough that I take bystolic 1.25 mg daily. If I didnt I would have days were just sitting up in bed could make my heart beat faster. Going for a walk could make my heart race really fast. So Im glad bystolic works. Today however I have been lifing some moderately heavys stuff and I get palpitations so Im now considering a little more Bystolic. I would like to hear from others with IST, to hear how they cope, and if they also get anxiety when the pulse is racing.
Avatar n tn But I used to get panic attacks in form of tachycardia and palpitations. I have been taking Propranolol for last 3 months and have tapered it off to 5 mg 2 times a day. Because of the persistent symptoms of panic attacks, my endocrinologist referred me to a psychiatrist. She diagnosed me as having Mixed Anxiety Depression. She prescribed me: 25 mg Sertraline - Once in a day 0.
1399363 tn?1462342610 anyone ever tried ivabradine for tachycardia? i heard it only affected HR. i have tachycardia, low BP and got prescribed BB. i was kind of worried if itll be problematic. sometimes it didnt help much (the palpitation). sometimes doesnt notice the difference. have tried propranolol, metroprolol, bisoprolol. why? :( i wonder if i should ask for other treatment.
Avatar n tn Finally, we caught it on an event monitor and it was diagnosed as Paroxyxmal Atrial Tachycardia. I assume this is the same as PSVT? Due to relocation, change of doctors, etc., I have ended up with three doctors all giving me different advice. They all agree that it is benign, but aggravating. I get lightheaded, cough and feel somewhat "confused" when it happens. Nevertheless, they've assured me it's ok.
Avatar n tn No, i feel great. Three weeks ago, my doctor wanted to wean me off propranolol, he said that i'm young and healthy. But, as a result of white-coat syndrom, i had BP 140/100, but it got normal after ten minutes. Nevertheless, he decided to put me of nebivolol to treat high BP! After two days of taking it, i felt very dizzy, my pulse went down at 60 bpm, BP 100/60, so i decided to get back at propranolol.

Avatar n tn sometimes Tenex is also used in conjunction with stimulants to help control ADHD symptoms....first I have heard of inderal (brand name for propranolol) being used but makes sense...Always to remember to ask your doctor any questions about your meds and health care...the only stupid questions are the ones not asked....Also beta blockers are also given to help control migraines to regulate fluxs in BP...not because too high but slight changes can trigger migraines...
