1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar n tn I am a 30 year old male and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I also had several episodes of panic attacks. After 4 months of treatment with carbimazole & propranolol, I am now clinically euthyroid and there's no more panic attacks & tachycardia. I have been doing brisk walking for last one month. I started slowly, but now I walk briskly on plain surface, slopes and stairs. I walk approx 2 miles everyday for 45 minutes. I have been still advised to be on Carbimazole 20 mg.
Avatar n tn Can caffeine cause anxiety and panic attacks even after drinking it for a while?
Avatar n tn But I used to get panic attacks in form of tachycardia and palpitations. I have been taking Propranolol for last 3 months and have tapered it off to 5 mg 2 times a day. Because of the persistent symptoms of panic attacks, my endocrinologist referred me to a psychiatrist. She diagnosed me as having Mixed Anxiety Depression. She prescribed me: 25 mg Sertraline - Once in a day 0.

5252520 tn?1366044234 I am 22 and I've been on propranolol for about 3 years starting at 160mg for panic attacks and anxiety. I have weaned myself (with the help of my doc) down to 10 mg in the morn and 10 mg at night. It's taken about a year and a half! Last week I found out I was pregnant! Unplanned but exciting! however I have to come off my propranolol now for good. I've started to miss my evening dose and then next week they want me to do 10mg on alternate days, then cut it out completely.
Avatar f tn Usually before exercise (as my heart rate got a little high during exercise when I was nervous, and I got palpitations) or when being stressed because it had a great effect preventing panic. My panic attacks stopped completely when taking propranolol, and I never had a racing heart. So, propranolol has often great effect on the fight/flight response. What it doesn't work against (at least not in my case), is that nagging, uncertainty-like kind of anxiety.
Avatar n tn If the same doctor prescribed both these medications for you, then you can trust it's safe to take them together.......but you must read the labels! Sometimes "together" doesn't mean "at the same time." Some meds need to be taken with food and some on an empty stomach, some in the morning and some at night. If you have any questions about how to take these meds, call your doctor or pharmacist for the correct dosing schedule.
Avatar f tn Hello, I recently gave birth to my son 4 weeks ago and during my pregnancy I was put on Propranolol 20mg twice a day to help lower my blood pressure and also because I was having panic attacks that would cause heart palpitations. Now fast forward to now I recently have been having heart palpitations resting, lying down, standing up too fast, sitting down too fast, bending over, you name it I’ve been been having them consistently throughout the day.
Avatar n tn I am 21 yrs old and for the past 10 or so months I have suffered from anxiety/panic attacks. I think my problem started after a stressful time, and out of the blue I had a panic attack whilst driving. I was then OK for a few months, but slowly my anxiety got to a point where I was having panic attacks every week, so I went to my doctor, who prescribed me Citalopram/Celexa/Cipramil.
Avatar f tn I also do take the beta-blocker pindolol which has kept my BP at 125/70 for years. Shrink says very occasional and use of propranolol on top of pindolol should not be a problem but I still have concerns which I will run by my GP. I actually did receive a call from my pharmacy pointing out the risk of a low BP problem. So...I am wondering if anyone has used propranolol or has an educated opinion on both its use in ED and possible interactions.
Avatar f tn I have been on 10 mg of propranolol 2x a day for 3 months for (POTS) Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia and I have a anxiety disorder that has been totally out of control again. My doctor wants me to go on 10mg lexapro I am very afraid of medication and was wondering whats the best time to take this medication morning or night and can you take these two together.
Avatar f tn It was confirmed by a Cardiologist that due to that, I have very sensitive Autonomic nervous system as I am very hypersensitive man and get severe Anxiety/Panic attacks. 6 months ago, i had the biggest panic attack of my life, where i felt i could not breath, fast heart palpitations, dizziness and imbalance, heaviness in head, chest pain , sweating of palms, fear of dying.
3688816 tn?1358475297 I am not sure about OTC meds but I am all too familiar with panic attacks and anxiety. I have my sunglasses on my head everywhere I go and an mp3 player in my pocket. It may sound crazy but if I start feeling anxious and cannot hide under my desk and cry I put on my sunglasses and put on some soothing music. I also have a machine that replicates a heart beat of around 70. I pace the floor trying to keep in step with it until my heartbeat slows down.
Avatar f tn What's akathisia?
895401 tn?1302792967 That was a long time to be sick (minor in comparison to mental health issues for most though, still not very nice). If there are no other precipitating factors then it is possible through process of elimination to suggest that the ventolin is the cause. I expect the ventolin would give you some physiological response, not sure if they, or the side-effects, are being misinterpreted as manic symptoms. You will know your body best though.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol for my blood pressure and keeps my heart steady when a panic attack comes around. For my anxiety, the dr put me on celexa, propranolol, and Ativan. This combo usually works pretty well.
Avatar f tn I've been taking panic attacks for the last week or so and went to the doctor telling her I had been having bad heart palpitations and pains in my chest and she is referring me to a heart palpitation specialist but she gave me propranolol because she thinks it may be anxiety, but I'm lying in my bed just watching TV and my heart rate is 51 - 60 roughly bpm, is this too low should I be worried I'm such a panicked and I would just like someone to try and put my mind at rest :(???
709686 tn?1277432159 i take it for migraines. when my anxiety reared it's ugly head last year...it really helped with the heart racing, etc. i've never heard of using it to treat anxiety...but you never know. propranolol (inderal) has had some very interesting studies done recently on how it could possibly treat post-traumatic stress disorder...so you never know. i would try it. what other treatments have you tried outside of just medicine?
