propranolol for anxiety attacks

Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.

The top four benzo, altering doses as needed. I also was a medication aide for people like me and had to administer anxiety meds as needed for others at a group home I worked at. Currently I am getting 90 valium a month, three a day as needed. Does it work? Honestly, I don't think so, but I am sure it prevents escalating or has some unknown benefit. Valium is a long lasting benzo, Short stuff won't protect a job. Marijuana has yet to fail me.

But I used to get panic attacks in form of tachycardia and palpitations. I have been taking Propranolol for last 3 months and have tapered it off to 5 mg 2 times a day. Because of the persistent symptoms of panic attacks, my endocrinologist referred me to a psychiatrist. She diagnosed me as having Mixed Anxiety Depression. She prescribed me: 25 mg Sertraline - Once in a day 0.

I am now taking propranolol for my anxiety, and it is doing wonders. Been on it for 4 months now and have not had a panic attack in that time. Not only that, but my hands don't shake like a 90 year old man anymore, and I feel much more at peace. Only problem is it is messing with my asthma that I have had my whole life, 28 year old male by the way.

I slowly got off propranolol 2 weeks ago after my surgery for hyperthyroid and after i did i starting getting really bad anxiety attacks, this whole week has been horrible, from day to night i havnt been able to relax. How long does it take for someones body to adjust off being used to propranolol? Any one else have this problem?

After 4 months of treatment with carbimazole & propranolol, I am now clinically euthyroid and there's no more panic attacks & tachycardia. I have been doing brisk walking for last one month. I started slowly, but now I walk briskly on plain surface, slopes and stairs. I walk approx 2 miles everyday for 45 minutes. I have been still advised to be on Carbimazole 20 mg.

t think this will be enough for my presentation. I talked to my doctor and got a .25mg prescription for Xanax. Does anyone here have experience combining the two? Was it more effective than propanolol alone? How long before my presentation should I take both pills? Thanks in advance.

Well, its most common use is for anxiety - which is fairly common for people with ADHD. Especially if you are prone to anxiety, the not knowing only makes it worse.

I have taken Propanolol and Effexor for a couple of years with no issues. I don't take the Propanolol for anxiety but for a tremor in my hand. Propanolol is used as an anxiety medication, cluster headaches, high BP and tremors like mine. I have taken it with just about every antidepressant out there with no issues. At one time I also took a BP medication with it due to high BP and with no problems. Although with lifestyle changes I was able to get off of the BP medication.

Hi, i am a 19 year old girl and weigh approx 8 and a half stone, I am taking a dose of propranolol 10mg twice a day for anxiety, I don't do cocain that often but I was wondering if there is any possibility it can harm me or kill me in any way if the two were mixed?

s a beta-blocker mostly used to lower blood pressure but sometimes used for performance anxiety situations like stage fright, exam taking, job interviews etc. He's used it with other patients experiencing ED. I also do take the beta-blocker pindolol which has kept my BP at 125/70 for years. Shrink says very occasional and use of propranolol on top of pindolol should not be a problem but I still have concerns which I will run by my GP.

I have been on EVERY Antidepressant there is out there im pretty sure. My problem when I got my anxiety and panic attacks was that I thought I was going to pass out, I felt sweaty and heart beating fast. I had it pretty much under control with medication until 4 days ago when I woke up I had a panic attack right away and it was lasting all day. I cant sleep right, I cant eat, and my symptoms are a little different ( feeling like I cant catch my breath ).

Cocaine combined with propranolol is life threatening. Propranolol is blocking the ability for blood vessels to dilate and the effect is a so-called unopposed alpha activity, which causes constricted blood vessels and extremely high blood pressure (strokes and heart attacks). The heart rate can also get dangerously slow in response (compensatory bradycardia). Stopping taking propranolol just to go out and take cocaine sounds like a very bad idea.

I know propranolol is used for PTSD...but what should I ask for in the pharmacy and what is the dosage? Are there any serious effect if taken without proper knowledge?

I have been on 10 mg of propranolol 2x a day for 3 months for (POTS) Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia and I have a anxiety disorder that has been totally out of control again. My doctor wants me to go on 10mg lexapro I am very afraid of medication and was wondering whats the best time to take this medication morning or night and can you take these two together.

I went to the er 2 days ago for an anxiety attack:/ I've been having issues with my mom for like 2 weeks and I'm 37w 5d and it really scared me because I couldn't breathe at all! I felt so bad right after because I realize I'm only hurting my baby but sometimes it's hard to control myself.. Definitely moving out my moms house. Can't imagine my baby seeing me cry every day !

I am 22 and I've been on propranolol for about 3 years starting at 160mg for panic attacks and anxiety. I have weaned myself (with the help of my doc) down to 10 mg in the morn and 10 mg at night. It's taken about a year and a half! Last week I found out I was pregnant! Unplanned but exciting! however I have to come off my propranolol now for good. I've started to miss my evening dose and then next week they want me to do 10mg on alternate days, then cut it out completely.

I used to take a slow-release Propranolol 80 mg every day, which caused severe tiredness and extreme fatigue, to the point that I was not able to think straight and sometimes could not even get out of bed. Apparently, Propranolol also inhibits the ability for you to burn fat, not to mention gastrointestinal issues. Depression is also significantly higher when taking Propranolol.

Propanolol is given for a variety of reasons to include anxiety, tremors, migraines, high BP, angina and others. It can cause some odd feelings when first starting it. I don't understand this being prescribed to you for your symptoms. The Codamol is a pain reliever, but it soundsa like you needed an antibiotic. I doubt that you would be feeling any effects after two weeks from these two drugs but we never know.

So, should I discontinue Propranolol or take it for 2 more weeks? Or try to wean off? Would there be any adverse effects if I stop it now? How much heart rate & BP is reduced by Propranolol? Will I get hypotension if I continue with Propranolol? Please suggest.
