Avatar n tn I just got Propranolol prescribed to me by my doctor for anxiety. I was reading side effects online and decreased sex drive and having a hard time orgasming were listed. I used to be on Seroquel and for the 3 years I took it I could not reach an orgasm. Will Propranolol have the same effect? Or is there a better medicine for me?
336415 tn?1212363142 I was on Xanax for many years for anxiety and panic attacts. I'm also a nurs. My dr prescribed propranolol 10mg twice a day. Yes it does make me tired is so much safer than Xanax. Getting off Xanax can have fatal results. So I think taking Propranolol is thebetter choice. My heart rate is slower and feel so much more relaxed.

Avatar f tn Because of my symptoms, my doctor is ruling out physical causes before diagnosing it as stress (which will be his diagnosis if my daily adrenaline levels turn out to be high). He put me on Propranolol for a month for anxiety and my other issues.
4155003 tn?1351617911 You need to talk to your doctor before getting out, i try propanolol because doctor said i had hyperthyroid, i took a pill, n discover chest pain, do i stop right away, i went back to the doctor and told her what happen and she dismissed for me to take propanolol and she said my blood work came back normal, i heard if you been taking propanolol for a while is bad to just quit, it can cause worse symptoms, so talk to ur doc, she will recommend lower dose, then she will take u off, if she thinks i
Avatar f tn I take it daily however it is along with other meds too. Usually treating migraines and/or anxiety is not a one-thing-fix-all. And even if something worked on you in the past may not work today and vise-versa. You can definitely ask about it, it won't hurt. But, my suggestion is to just let your doctor how bad it is and let him/her choose what to give you next. Remember, treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn I have been on Paxil for 9 months and my dr just changed me over to propranolol 20 MG 3 times a day. I have felt weird this week and have not been able to sleep at all at night. This has been a long 9 months...anxiety seems to be the root cause. I was having terrible panic attacks. Any advice? I'm very new to all this.
1243620 tn?1274794297 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar f tn I slowly got off propranolol 2 weeks ago after my surgery for hyperthyroid and after i did i starting getting really bad anxiety attacks, this whole week has been horrible, from day to night i havnt been able to relax. 1504778 tn?1321398245 They also help slowing a rapid heartrate due to stress, and they prevent panic and anxiety. Other beta blockers lack this effect. The aching can't be heart related if you are 18, and your echo and stress test are normal, so the beta blocker won't help you there.
Avatar f tn Of course all blood work came back ok and I didnt have a heart attack but they said that when I just casually walk my heart rate is to high so they put me on Propranolol. I had a bad bout with Amytriptaline 3 years ago and Ive never taken any meds but 1 since out of fear of dying. Since I have been on the med things are much better but its like my heart is fighting the meds to skip. I just feel uncomfortable and still out of breath when I walk.

My doctor wants me to go on 10mg lexapro I am very afraid of medication and was wondering whats the best time to take this medication morning or night and can you take these two together. Avatar f tn I now take Propanolol and Citolopram and still no problems. Propanolol is used to treat anxiety, high BP, cluster headaches, tremors, aids in sleeping, and maybe more. It has a short life which means it doesn't stay in your system very long, probably much like the Xanax. But they're safe together.
769503 tn?1238499921 You need to be relaxed and not talk when your blood pressure is being taken. Any stress and anxiety will also increase your blood pressure, so try and avoid stressful situations. Cut down on your intake of salt which is know to raise blood pressure. Do relaxation to low stress levels. Make an appointment to see your doctor.
Avatar m tn During the first week I had countless flutters and thumps while swimming and playing tennis but I told myself it is anxiety and I continued. After a week flutters stopped and now I am swimming 1,5km everyday without a single ectopic or any panic. When I do not listen to my heart I do not get them:) But the problem that I still have is my work. I work in private company and I train people.
Avatar n tn My husband, who has Type I Diabetes, was recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder II. His doctor prescribed Oxcarbazepine (daily) and Propranolol to use as needed for anxiety/mania attacks--but I see Oxcarbazepine AND diabetes drugs listed in the "caution" section of interactions for Propranolol. My question is, of course, are they safe to use in combination if he is also a type I diabetic, and secondly, why didn't she prescribe a more specific anti-anxiety medication like a valium?
Avatar n tn Will any doctor prescribe propranolol to me for need based public speaking anxiety, or is the only place the psychiatrist?
Avatar f tn So, I started researching it and have found that it is not generally used for someone with generalized anxiety but usually for those that have anxiety in certain situations. I wake up and go to sleep with a lump of anxiety in my chest. I also read that it is not good to use regularly for someone with asthma. Any suggestions or feedback on your experiences with this?
Avatar n tn I assume you are taking vyvanse for ADHD? A side affect of vyvanse is anxiety symptoms. Propranolol is an anti-anxiety medication. So your doctor may be giving you the propranolol to help counter any of the anxiety side affects you may get with the vyvanse. The best thing to do is to call your doctor and to ask him/her what the drug is being prescribed for. It is always a good idea for your own benefit to know what you are taking and why.
Avatar f tn i take prozac and love it after 20 years of trying everything elseā€¦long/short, it helps with all but ANXIETY so she prescribed me Propranolol? just 10 mg 2Xs a day. i worried about ALL the side effects tho, should i be?
Avatar m tn Hello, I've been using propranolol over a year for performance anxiety. I made the mistake to stop cold turkey for about two weeks during semester break. I used to take 120mg. When school started again, during the first week I used propranolol for two days at the same dose and I realised that blushing, high blood pressure, palpitations came back. The second week I tried to increase the dose in order to overcome withdrawl. However, the outcome was even worse.
