Propranolol for flushing

Common Questions and Answers about Propranolol for flushing

inderal

Avatar m tn t seemed to help with the actual flushing side; the propranolol helps with the anxiety side of the flushing but nothing seems to help with the temperature side of the flushing. I have seen a couple of derms and a skin doctor in the GP clinic who say its not rosacea but that confuses me more than ever as the flushing is a symptom of rosacea. Is there anything I can do to reduce the flushing???? This has been new to me as I have never turned red apart from extreme embarrassement.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar n tn sometimes Tenex is also used in conjunction with stimulants to help control ADHD symptoms....first I have heard of inderal (brand name for propranolol) being used but makes sense...Always to remember to ask your doctor any questions about your meds and health care...the only stupid questions are the ones not asked....Also beta blockers are also given to help control migraines to regulate fluxs in BP...not because too high but slight changes can trigger migraines...
1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar f tn I also do take the beta-blocker pindolol which has kept my BP at 125/70 for years. Shrink says very occasional and use of propranolol on top of pindolol should not be a problem but I still have concerns which I will run by my GP. I actually did receive a call from my pharmacy pointing out the risk of a low BP problem. So...I am wondering if anyone has used propranolol or has an educated opinion on both its use in ED and possible interactions.
Avatar f tn I know propranolol is used for PTSD...but what should I ask for in the pharmacy and what is the dosage? Are there any serious effect if taken without proper knowledge?
Avatar n tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Usually, propranolol (beta blocker) is suggested for prophylactic treatment of migraine. Acute or prompt treatment require over the counter pain killers and triptans. Avoiding the triggering factors of cluster headache might help you in order to prevent its recurrence. Hope it helps.
Avatar m tn I used to take a slow-release Propranolol 80 mg every day, which caused severe tiredness and extreme fatigue, to the point that I was not able to think straight and sometimes could not even get out of bed. Apparently, Propranolol also inhibits the ability for you to burn fat, not to mention gastrointestinal issues. Depression is also significantly higher when taking Propranolol.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol for my blood pressure and keeps my heart steady when a panic attack comes around. For my anxiety, the dr put me on celexa, propranolol, and Ativan. This combo usually works pretty well.
Avatar f tn 3 years after that I had nuclear stress test that turned out fine. Now at age 50, I am taking 40 mg twice a day of propranolol, equate one daily multi-vitamin for men,150mg ranitidine daily, and am currently taking 500 mg of Amocillin for a slight sinus infection that is slightly in the chest[some colored discharge], I have been coughing uncontrollably, with a tickle in my throat, sweating profusely when it is in the low to mid 50's this April, and many times over the past 2-3 years.

Avatar n tn weight for example. What is a perfect dose for an adult male would probably be too much for a preteen girl. It's important to talk to a doctor or poison control in case treatment is needed.
Avatar f tn Yeah, Propanolol has a chance of helping you. Not sure whether suggesting to the doctor what to try is the right approach, but you could always ask if you're a good candidate for it (assuming you've been checked out properly, diagnosed properly -- which often means an MRI and a long discussion of history, habits, possible triggers).
Avatar f tn Because of my symptoms, my doctor is ruling out physical causes before diagnosing it as stress (which will be his diagnosis if my daily adrenaline levels turn out to be high). He put me on Propranolol for a month for anxiety and my other issues.
Avatar m tn HI! has anyone else ever experienced a red blotchy rash on their skin due to anxiety? This rash is literally ruining my life and my career. Whenever someone makes me feel any emotion whether its happy embarrassed uncomfortable etc my face turns bright red instantly and my neck and throat instantly get red blotches all over! It last's a good 30 mins. I used to take propranolol (beta blocker) which helped me tremendously! I never ever got the rash.
401095 tn?1351391770 t stand to see him hurt and he is one of the lucky people that can take a pill for the pain and not open the bottle for a week and not care. He will have a bottle for 6 months. So I have had to be clean and know they are in the house. Very hard even though morally I would not touch them and haven't.
Avatar f tn Is the flushing in cushings similar to the flushing in menopause? My docs have told me my flushing was menopause. Some people have even commented that I look like I just got back from a trip. For me this flushing comes and goes and I've been trying to figure out what my triggers are. I know it's not heat.
Avatar f tn i know that water will flush ya kidneys, and in turn more toxinx will enter kidneys, more flushing and so forth...so yes it will help to consume large amounts of water. i used to pass a drug test with water alone, never noticed ne diarhea. now if the water will help with the runs im unsure? but if thats the problem use some immodium..
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
5302191 tn?1366196843 About a year ago I had my thyroid removed due to questionable cells and difficulty swallowing. I had been on synthroid for 8 years.
Avatar n tn t think this will be enough for my presentation. I talked to my doctor and got a .25mg prescription for Xanax. Does anyone here have experience combining the two? Was it more effective than propanolol alone? How long before my presentation should I take both pills? Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn To find a well informed answer to your query about the Sertraline-Propranolol combination, you need to look for information/evidence according to the hierarchy. A systematic review (a review of a number of studies exploring the same issue) is considered the best as far as strength of evidence is concerned. Clinicians' experience, case reports and non-journal articles are lower level sources of evidence.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed an increase in propranolol for migraines and anxiety.I was taking 120mg in the morning(extended release) and my doctor has raised the dose to 160mg. I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime. Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime? Thank you.
