1415174 tn?1453243103 Has anyone tried extended release Topamax or Topiramate? It is called Trokedi XR. I am going to try it because my memory is so bad on Topamax. My neurologist said it might be better with Trokedi XR but it is very expensive. So if you can tell me before I buy it I would appreciate any feedback.
Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? The extended-release propranolol usually is taken once a day. As long as you take it at around the same time every day, there is nothing to be worried about. It is best that you take propranolol exactly as directed by your doctor. Take care and best regards.
Avatar m tn I used to take a slow-release Propranolol 80 mg every day, which caused severe tiredness and extreme fatigue, to the point that I was not able to think straight and sometimes could not even get out of bed. Apparently, Propranolol also inhibits the ability for you to burn fat, not to mention gastrointestinal issues. Depression is also significantly higher when taking Propranolol.
967168 tn?1477584489 First, good luck with your insurance transition, us folks with "existing conditions" have a battle. The turmoil in medical insurance in the USA caused by the battles in Washington DC must be making things more difficult, for those business who provide insurance as a benefit too. My first insurance was when I went to work for the Bell System way back when it was The Telephone Company of the USA. It did not have a preexisting condition requirement on its insurance....
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar m tn If it is not extended release, I would cut them in half and do that every day for a couple of weeks, and then try to stop taking them. If you stop cold turkey and detox, it will increase chance of seizure and withdrawal effects. You will feel nervous for a while, have you looked into a daily SSRI or SNRI for anxiety? It is a much better way to go than xanax for long term, and not addictive.
1504778 tn?1321394645 Jerry; propranolol is the generic form of Inderal which I take also =) yes it's a BB but mine's the short acting form so I can vary mine a bit more. I just wasn't sure if his was short acting or extended-release that he was taking.
Avatar m tn It makes them completely go away until it wears off which is about 24 hours (extended release 240), Just curious if anyone knows why doctors do not prescribe these to more patients for PAC/PVC because they seem to work.
Avatar m tn If the beta blocker is a normal release, not an extended or delayed release, and you take your 160 mg dose in the morning, most of its strength will be gone by the time you go to sleep.
Avatar m tn My heart rate remains a little high and i want to take propranolol in a very small dose like 8 mg a day in divoded doses. I am scared that my bp would lower and cause probs. Can i take it???
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried the extended releExtended release Xanaxase Xanax? I know it has been on the market for a bit but I haven't heard any feedback.
1243620 tn?1274790697 hort696 I was taking 80mg of propranolol extended release since about 2004. Then suddenly at the end of 2018 whenever I took it my BP would jump to 152/94 and I would have a MAJOR panic attack! Once the garbage sent my BP to 256/100+. I have no idea why, and good luck getting any doctor to believe you. Now if I take it,(which I no longer have any intention to), it always does the same thing!
Avatar f tn How long does withdrawal from beta blockers usually last? I don't have any money to refill my propranolol prescription and haven't had it in 4 months. I was taking it for arrhythmias and high BP (160mg XR propranolol with 180mg XR diltiazam daily) and when I ran out 4 months ago I just kept taking the Dilt. hoping the symptoms were just withdrawals and that they would go away... Symptoms are what you would think, I'm just curious if to someone with similar conditions (i.
Avatar m tn You need to talk to your doctor about this. What was prescribed? I take a different beta blocker, Atenolol 25 mg. up to to tablets a day, and I split them into 1/4's and delay a dose if my blood pressure or heart rate is too low. I have been doing this for years. Mine is not extended release, so it doesn't stay in the bloodstream as long. Are you checking your blood pressure and heart rate? Drinking water will bring your blood pressure up if it gets too low.
Avatar m tn My general practitioner who also followed my situation, wanted to lower my heart rate to eliminate the symptoms of palpitations, etc and prescribed Propranolol (60 mg extended release) about a year later. The beta blocker made me feel much better and significantly lowered my baseline heart rate, eliminating the horrible symptoms as well as the instances in which my heart would race. However, I did notice that I had skipped beats while on the Propranolol.
Avatar n tn lately, i cant brush my hair on the left side because it is so sensitive. Am i on the wrong meds? What do you think of the hydro 15mgs extended release verses the 7.5 mg of hydrocodone?
725248 tn?1316162245 Have you tried the extended release formula for Dilaudid? A new extended release formulation (OROSĀ®) of Hydromorphone is available and I believe it is more afforable than the Fentanyl. Here is link about the medication... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2697506/ I wish you the best of luck. With today's economy we have to get what we can afford.
612551 tn?1450022175 I was recently prescribed 100 mg extended release beta blocker to increase my long time used 50 mg. Is it better to take 50 mg every 12 hours rather than 100 mg every 24 hours? If no, should I take 100 mg in morning or before bed?
Avatar n tn This is a good discussion to have with your doctor. Metformin, the immediate release version and Metformin, the extended release version are the exact same medication. The extended release version just doesn't have to be taken as often as it is released over time. The bid or twice a day schedule with the Metformin you currently take will work as well as the once a day extended release version. That's really the main difference.
Avatar n tn It does not come in an extended release so I have to take it in halves or sometimes quarters, depending on low my bp is. I take from one or two 25 mg. tablets a day. My heart rate pretty much stays in the 50's. Toprol was very debilitating for me. I get some dizziness from time to time, especially when I stand up quickly and start walking. I am trying to remember not to do that, to wait a minute and then start out. Several of my meds cause dizziness.
Avatar f tn I slowly got off propranolol 2 weeks ago after my surgery for hyperthyroid and after i did i starting getting really bad anxiety attacks, this whole week has been horrible, from day to night i havnt been able to relax. How long does it take for someones body to adjust off being used to propranolol? Any one else have this problem?
Avatar f tn The capsules are immediate release and the pills are extended release, right? I can't take hydrocodone also. I don't want to take a more powerful drug like oxycotin or morphine, so I was hoping there was a different chemical compound in the capsules!
Avatar m tn Not sure of your exact question here, but Effexor XR is an "extended release" formula, which means a slower, more gradual release over a longer period of time versus a faster acting formula. It generally takes about 3 days to reach a steady state in your system, and can take up to a month to fully assess its effectiveness. Hope that helped a bit...if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Avatar f tn It depends if your on extended release or not. If your on extended release a few hours either way won't affect anything but regular metformin it might. If you look at your bottle if it says ER or XR after the name then it's extended release.
612551 tn?1450022175 I have been taking a beta blocker, 50 mg Metoprolol ER (Extended/Slow Release), for several years but have with my cardiologist approval today refilled my BB prescription with Metoprolol Tartrate (normal release) to be taken at 25 mg twice a day (every 12 hours). My reason is driven mainly by the fact the Tartrate is about 1/6th the cost of the Suc (ER).
Avatar f tn I am taking methadone 5 mg tablets 3 times per day and Ultram 100 mg in the morning, 50 mg in the afternoon and 100 mg extended release in the evening. The reason for the mixed up dosage on the ultram is I am trying to get off of the extended release due to the cost. The problem I have is that before when I was taking 100 mg Ultram ER twice a day with the methadone as listed above my pain was controled, but since I have tried going down on it I have pain all the time again.
