Avatar n tn Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences. We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Avatar f tn "How they [beta-blockers] can cause depression: While scientists don't know exactly how beta-blockers cause depression, the three most commonly adverse effects reported with their use are fatigue, sexual dysfunction and depression." From AARP http://tinyurl.com/cyxbdun Another site said that because propranolol was often given along with beta-blockers it's gotta be the propranolol. LOL http://www.currentpsychiatry.com/index.php?
Avatar f tn I take propranolol for my blood pressure and keeps my heart steady when a panic attack comes around. For my anxiety, the dr put me on celexa, propranolol, and Ativan. This combo usually works pretty well.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.

1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar f tn I'm currently taking zopiclone for sleep been taking them for ten days. Can I just stop taking these? I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety I'm also currently taking propranolol and fluoxetine.
Avatar n tn I read Sertraline reacts with Propranolol. It makes Propranolol more toxic and can give me low BP and bradycardia. Recently my BP was a bit high (140/90) and pulse rate was 72. Shall I take the psychiatric medicines and how should I schedule the medications without suffering a lot?
Avatar m tn Apparently, Propranolol also inhibits the ability for you to burn fat, not to mention gastrointestinal issues. Depression is also significantly higher when taking Propranolol. So, I switched to Metoprolol and started off at its lowest dose: 25 mg extended release, which is obviously not enough, though I feel great in terms of strength and alertness and stamina, that were all seriously diminished when I was taking Propranolol.
Avatar n tn Wow -- I can't believe that his doctor would recommend waiting until the thyroid has "died off" to start treating the thyroid issue. Do you have a copy of his latest lab report? It would be great if you could post the tests run, along with their results and the lab's reference ranges, since different labs use different ranges. If you don't have a copy of the lab report, it would be a good idea to get one.
1258608 tn?1269552597 Propanolol is a beta blocker so that sometimes can cause depression itself as it slows down heart rate. Think when the depression and anxiety began and your psychiatrist could see whether medications aren't treating it or may potentially have worsened it and adjust and/or change your medication as appropriate.
Avatar f tn I have had shaking hands and legs, rapid heartbeat, trouble swallowing, sweating, anxiety, depression, mood changes and shorten periods now for years and thought it was just me. The doctor started me on propranolol but it seems to not be working as well as it did in the beginning. I feel like I am going crazy.
Avatar f tn ve been taking 40mg propanolol 3 times a day for 2 years for anxiety and have just been prescribed 20mg of fluoxetine to be taken daily to tackle depression but the doctor never said anything about stopping taking the propanolol, although everything I've found online says it's a dangerous combination. Is it safe to take them both together or should I be replacing the propranolol with the fluoxetine?
10610562 tn?1411418414 So, I am a 29 year old male. 5'7" 130lbs. I was put on propranolol to reduce the heart rate, as well to possible help with my anxiety and panic. This medication worked really well for me. It helped ease my mind, enough to where I felt more comfortable leaving the house and being productive. It completely got rid of my embarrassingly shaky hands. I was so happy. Then, I noticed my asthma was being severely effected.
Avatar f tn s caused somewhat depression beacuse I had to give up what I loved. But I can deal with it . I just was the headaches gone. My neurologist has had me on 40 mg propranolol twice a day for 7 weeks now. It's cause rapid weight gain! I can't handle it! Although it's helps my migraines a lot!!! This past week I gained 12 pounds! And I eat less than 1,500 calories a day and almost no carbs and zero sugar. Just water.
Avatar m tn I have ventricular beats that are getting more and more frequent and stronger, or myb im just too much scared or stressed that i imagine. Im falling in depression, and i have massive anxiety and panic attacks. Currently im on Propranolol 10mg 2x day. It ease my PVCs and my fast HR but it slows me down. Btw i have low BP, 110-70, sometimes 90-50...and when u put Propranolol atop of that... This is my EKG Holter monitor of 24h.
Avatar n tn I was on paxil for almost 20 years for depression and panic. MD switched me to Cymbalta. He said it is possible for you to get used to meds after being on them long term. Is that true, cannot find much info. on that. The problem is the Cymbalta was better with my depression but seems to increase my anxiety and cause me excessive sweating, esp in social situations. Does the sweating sound like a common side effect for SNRI?
Avatar f tn Does Propranolol...does that beta blocker make you have major mood swings?....I am having that and wondering if it is this pills doing it to me....does anybody no if they do that to u?
10894761 tn?1413637884 It's not dangerous to take a beta blocker. Also, 10 mg of propranolol is a very low dose. Don't worry about getting a slightly slower heart rate at night. On the other hand, an average of 81 isn't dangerously high, so you don't really have to take a beta blocker if you don't want to. It's up to you. What I would do (instead of spending money on seeing a cardiologist just for a second opinion) is to try propranolol for some weeks.
Avatar f tn hi, well i have had anxitey and depression for a while but is getting better i think, am wanting to get off citrapram, and propanolo whats the best way to get off them? well not sure what to do am worried id i get off the tablets i will be the same as i was.
Avatar f tn It started working within 2 weeks and my depression decreased dramatically. One common side effect of Abilify is akathisia, a restless need to move. I have that but added propranolol and it stopped it completely with no other side effects.
968908 tn?1274871115 Feel very jumpy and generally off. Just want some peace from all this depression, anxiety and panic that i suffer from but now the drugs that once use to give me so much relief have turned against my body and i dont know why. I had CBT, take a beta-blocker and also diazepam sometimes.... do meditation, relaxation but it anit enough to bring me out of all this. Im getting the feeling that there is something else, something that we are all missing is going on.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
4155003 tn?1351614311 ive bin on propranolol for about 12weeks & weaned myself down to 10ml every other day, i took 10ml propranolol 52hours ago & not going to take another one as im ready to stop. when will it be fully out my system?
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm dealing with tachycardia arrhytmia since more than 2 years now. My Cardilogist at first said it was dysautonomia and POTS and blame also my severe anxiety and was put on a beta blocker, propranolol 20 mg day. At first it was working on to stop the tachycardia but with time the effect wear off and had to increase my dose and then it was lowering too much my blood pressure so my Cardiologist switch me on another beta blocker...
