Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar f tn I'm currently taking zopiclone for sleep been taking them for ten days. Can I just stop taking these? I've been diagnosed with depression and anxiety I'm also currently taking propranolol and fluoxetine.
Avatar n tn I read Sertraline reacts with Propranolol. It makes Propranolol more toxic and can give me low BP and bradycardia. Recently my BP was a bit high (140/90) and pulse rate was 72. Shall I take the psychiatric medicines and how should I schedule the medications without suffering a lot?
1258608 tn?1269552597 Propanolol is a beta blocker so that sometimes can cause depression itself as it slows down heart rate. Think when the depression and anxiety began and your psychiatrist could see whether medications aren't treating it or may potentially have worsened it and adjust and/or change your medication as appropriate.
Avatar f tn I've had a rough couple of weeks, herxing like crazy with my mood going downward. I know I need to make some changes and have put an email into my Doc with no answer...The 3 new drugs I've started in the last 2 weeks are Mepron, Propranolol, and Methyl-Guard plus. I'm wondering which of these is causing the depression. If it's the mepron I'm off it for 2 weeks but I never want to take it again.
Avatar m tn Apparently, Propranolol also inhibits the ability for you to burn fat, not to mention gastrointestinal issues. Depression is also significantly higher when taking Propranolol. So, I switched to Metoprolol and started off at its lowest dose: 25 mg extended release, which is obviously not enough, though I feel great in terms of strength and alertness and stamina, that were all seriously diminished when I was taking Propranolol.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol for my blood pressure and keeps my heart steady when a panic attack comes around. For my anxiety, the dr put me on celexa, propranolol, and Ativan. This combo usually works pretty well.
Avatar n tn I was on paxil for almost 20 years for depression and panic. MD switched me to Cymbalta. He said it is possible for you to get used to meds after being on them long term. Is that true, cannot find much info. on that. The problem is the Cymbalta was better with my depression but seems to increase my anxiety and cause me excessive sweating, esp in social situations. Does the sweating sound like a common side effect for SNRI?
Avatar f tn I don't know about that medication. I looked it up and of course some people said that it could cause memory issues but it wasn't a common occurence. I do know that depression can cause it and I know you are on prozac but that doesn't cure depression it just aids and takes the edge off. You will have memory issues the longer you wait to get back out and enjoy life (however that can be for you). You may not think there is a way but don't give up. You are still alive.
1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.

Avatar n tn Wow -- I can't believe that his doctor would recommend waiting until the thyroid has "died off" to start treating the thyroid issue. Do you have a copy of his latest lab report? It would be great if you could post the tests run, along with their results and the lab's reference ranges, since different labs use different ranges. If you don't have a copy of the lab report, it would be a good idea to get one.
Avatar m tn My husband who is 47 yrs old had two left cerebellar infarcts and a right occipital infarct 4 years ago. They occurred simultaneously and despite all sorts of testing....they have never found a reason that this happened. They were all considered embolic events. His only medical history up to that point was that he developed migraine headaches a couple of years before the strokes, a history of peptic ulcer disease, and sleep apnea. He was using CPAP prior to the strokes without a problem.
Avatar f tn The sudden onset of depression and paranoia, such as what your girlfriend experienced, is not normal and in my humble and non-medical opinion requires immediate intervention. If she continues to show symptoms of depression and paranoia and you cannot get her in to see a psychiatrist now, I would take her to the ER. I really don't mean to scare you, but as I said, the suddeness of these symptoms would concern me. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar f tn I have had shaking hands and legs, rapid heartbeat, trouble swallowing, sweating, anxiety, depression, mood changes and shorten periods now for years and thought it was just me. The doctor started me on propranolol but it seems to not be working as well as it did in the beginning. I feel like I am going crazy.
Avatar f tn I've been taking 40mg propanolol 3 times a day for 2 years for anxiety and have just been prescribed 20mg of fluoxetine to be taken daily to tackle depression but the doctor never said anything about stopping taking the propanolol, although everything I've found online says it's a dangerous combination. Is it safe to take them both together or should I be replacing the propranolol with the fluoxetine?
534360 tn?1234721915 i have been prescribed 10 mg of Citalopram for depression today and 40 mg of beta blocker propanolol 3 times a day i stat them all tomorrow i also struggle to sleep and have spare zopiclones 7.5 mg left from a while ago i forgot to ask the doc can i take zopiclone at night to sleep??
Avatar f tn The beta blocker has caused severe depression and anxiety. I need something to help me to get out of this hole and depression that I"m in. Can anyone let me know if you've luck with Lexapro helping with drug induced depression. Its the lesser of two evils. I need the beta blocker for my tachycardia....now I need something to help with the side effects of the beta blocker....horrible side effects and depression.
10610562 tn?1411418414 So, I am a 29 year old male. 5'7" 130lbs. I was put on propranolol to reduce the heart rate, as well to possible help with my anxiety and panic. This medication worked really well for me. It helped ease my mind, enough to where I felt more comfortable leaving the house and being productive. It completely got rid of my embarrassingly shaky hands. I was so happy. Then, I noticed my asthma was being severely effected.
Avatar f tn OK, PLEASE i am asking you to NOT STOP taking the Paxil cold turkey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will go into withdrawal and may suffer greatly. If you think that your having a hard time now then just wait until your brain starts to crave the Paxil and then you'll know what is is like to suffer. Many people on this web-site have done the same thing that you are posing to do and have screamed out to anyone to hear and help them.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar f tn ok so the past few weeks ive been having extreme anxiety, tingling in fingers, arm pain, back and chest pain on and off (pressure, sharp pains, anything you can think of i've felt it), panic attacks. saw a cardiologist on tuesday, said i had a normal echo. last year and nothing would drastically change within a year, and normal ekgs and holter monitor recently. he also prescribed me propranolol , which i'm terrified to take because it drops BP and your heart rate.
Avatar f tn You can try waiting to go to bed a little later, and then occupy your mind while you fall asleep. Like reading, watching TV, low key music, etc. With anxiety and depression, when we just lie in bed awake all we do is think and as you know this just ramps up our anxiety. I fall asleep with the TV on which keeps me from thinking too much, but reading may be even better. It would also be a good idea to let your doctor know about this and get his advice.
3122467 tn?1342138836 To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.
Avatar f tn I had my first migraine when I was 12 and they became chronic and literally everyday after two car accidents. (Rear end and head on). Avatar m tn I have ventricular beats that are getting more and more frequent and stronger, or myb im just too much scared or stressed that i imagine. Im falling in depression, and i have massive anxiety and panic attacks. Currently im on Propranolol 10mg 2x day. It ease my PVCs and my fast HR but it slows me down. Avatar f tn I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy. 2 weeks later I have come back on again this time seems normal I'm quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem or similar and would you say it's something to worry about I just want to talk to people with the same situation so I feel comfortable and can kinda put my mind at rest a little.
