A year prior to that I was put on 40 mg propranolol to prevent migraines.In 2010, started having scary strange, pounding heartbeat and chest pains with fatigue. Was referred to a new cardiologist. He did a cardiac-cath and said my arteries are clean as a whistle but EF is 40%. He diagnosed me w/cardiomyopathy (a new word for me). He told me to continue the propranolol and added lisinopril 5 mg per day.
Dehydration can cause lethargy. Lethargy is generally not a symptom of CHF. CHF is most often the result of cardiomyopathy where the heart is unable to pump enough blood to tissues. That in turn can cause fluid retention around the heart and lungs. Excessive or prolonged sub-q fluids for a cat that already has CHF as a pre-existing condition could worsen the CHF, but it would not cause it. CHF cannot be diagnosed from an X-ray alone.
Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up.
I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms?
I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug?

t believe it would say right then and there a patient is in CHF. A patient with CHF has the symptoms of the disease and tests such as a BNP would diagnose that. People aren't in CHF 24/7 ; they have periods where they go into CHF; there are times when a patient who has been diagnosed with CHF may be doing well.
4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.

Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
my daughter is 23 and has been in CHF for almost 4 years her lowest ef had been 32 and now it is 45 a very good indicator of CHF is a blood test called BNP, brain natriuretic peptide. This test is a very good indicator for CHF... check with your cardiologist what those levels were at the beginning and what they are now...
I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences.
We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Talk to me about CHF, is it controllable? Am on 80 mg lasix to rid body of water..also Zaroxolin...am unable to do much exercise due to back and knee problems...
Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day.
For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
I have been prescribed an increase in propranolol for migraines and anxiety.I was taking 120mg in the morning(extended release) and my doctor has raised the dose to 160mg.
I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime.
Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime?

Hello. i have a problem. i belive i could have chf. the problem is after 6 er visits and countles doctors visits. my diagnosis is still unknown. my symptoms are. shorness of breath, a simple walk around the store i almost passout with a pounding heart like i joged the whole time. if i stand in about 10 mins. the top of my head goes numb. if i lay down my feet go numb. i also have chest pains. i have costochondritis witch makes these chest pains hard to tell if its cardiac or the costo.
Finally, they tried to include 20 Mg of Propranolol twice a day. But since I have CHF I had to remind them of my already low blood pressure, so they cut it to 10Mg and ordered some lab work.
I've been monitoring my BP and the Propranolol hasn't had an adverse affect. But apparently they saw something in my lab work and ordered me to stop taking the Divalproex and have another lab done for ammonia level.
I'm very frustrated. I need to get back to work.
i am 28 years of age,i had a problem of trembling my fingers of both hand,specialy when i write it was more difficult,then i consulted a neurologist so he checked me and prescribed me propranolol 20 ml to take 3times a day but i was affraid to take 3times but i took that only once a day as i was asked by someone if i continue that much i will have to use it forever.when i take that i feel much better.
CHF means that the heart it is not able to supply the amount of blood that the body needs.
CHF it is not a disease but a number of symptoms that can be produced for different diseases, therefore you can see drugs that are not specific for CHF but that can contribute to alleviate the symptoms, eg: diuretics.
