Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar f tn It is not intended to be used for weight loss alone! Did you know it can cause hair loss and kidney stones? By the way, I have been on Topomax for about a year and haven't lost any weight becasue of the other drugs I am on. Think twice before you add another med to your list!
Avatar f tn ve learned that the FT4 should be around 50% of the range and the FT3 around 75% in order to be relieved of symptoms and to be able to lose weight, grow hair, have energy etc. Good luck and don't give up.
Avatar m tn Hello, i'm taking about 3 months propranolol 10mg for migraines - twice a day, morning and evening. I suffer from social anxiety, but the doctor does not know .. The problem of migraines is separately When i have Anxiety attack i am sweating a lot, especially the plams. But in normal circumstances I would not sweat, but lately I'm sweating all the time and from places that I was not sweating before - legs, underarms, back, hands-like all the time !!!
Avatar n tn I suspected that this started in late 2020 when I start losing weight. I lost a total of 25lb, and I am currently weighing at 125lb and I am 5’5. Things got bad when my 19 years relationship ended in March. Before the diagnosed, I thought I was just going to breakup with weight lost, sleepless, anxiety, nights, and rapid heartbeat. Once I was diagnosed, I was relief, but my anxiety and sleeplessness didn’t go away. I was on 10MG Propranolol as needed basis.
Avatar m tn He takes the Propranolol now as we have tried Depakote(sleepiness and weight gain) and Topomax (recurrent kidney stones). He now uses Midrin and Indomethicin for migraine abatement which is sometimes helpful and at times has to use Stadol nasal spray. He takes an aspirin a day as he was having recurrent TIAs and the risk on Coumadin was too great. He tried Plavix(was allergic) and Aggrenox which increased the headache frequency.
Avatar n tn i am just concerned for the fact that the prolonged use of propranolol might cause any sort of memory loss to me. Kindly advise me in this regard.
Avatar f tn dear friend, many thanks for responding to my anguish, i can't find the right words and that is my problem, memory loss. my p doc does not help and my family couldn't care less."my niece has threatened to finish me" means that she will kill me or decapacitate me.
Avatar f tn ve been on Topomax with no success (just a bunch of brain fog and memory loss -- which does not happen to everyone), but Propanolol has helped. I still do get headaches, but they are less frequent and of a markedly lower intensity when I do get them. Instead of 4-5 headaches a week, half of which are of medium intensity, I get about 2 headaches a week which are low intensity. In other words, I can stand it even if the OTC pain reliever doesn't do much.
Avatar f tn I tried everything including Toprol beta blocker, and besides weight gain, horrible nightmares and cold hands and feet, I would have break thru episodes. I haven't had not one SVT episode since my ablation! best wishes.
Avatar f tn My question is, has anyone else experience a tremendous amount of weight gain like this in such a short period of time and did anyone loss the weight after treatment???? Please help! I am scheduled for tt on Friday and I pray I lose this weight after surgery. This discussion is related to will it help me lose weight.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last august and have been on propranolol and methimazole since. I was taking four methimazole and now my specialist increased it to 5 and that really makes me sad. I'm gaining weight and feel so awful about myself. Yes i am feeling better which is worth alot but my hot flashes are insane. My pituitary gland is what the specialist refers to as "sleeping" and so I was wondering if you have any suggestions as to how to wake it up.
Avatar m tn There's weight lifting and there's weight lifting. I'd probably lay off the full squat and throw-up-bucket routine. Hopefully some here or elsewhere with varisces can chime in with their own experiences with weight lifting. Avatar f tn I had my first migraine when I was 12 and they became chronic and literally everyday after two car accidents. (Rear end and head on). I am soon going to b getting my nerves on my c3-6 burned to help with the headaches and neck pain. I'm only 23 yrs old. I had to quit my career (cosmetologist) I loved it and right before my migrianes randomly became daily I had an offer to become a redken color artist and do hair in big time hair shows up on stage with many famous hairstylist.
Avatar n tn I am 58 years old. I also have low slightly low WBC (3.4 (normal 4.8-10.8) and Mcv and Mch and MPV all just slightly over high of normal. Any insights? I struggle to keep my weight normal. I do have normal weight, but don't eat much to maintain. I have many food allergies, so dodge alot of foods. My recent moods have been low. I so appreciate help. MD's don't seem to think much about all this.
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
1124887 tn?1313754891 It is impossible to rule out angina as a cause of chest discomfort -- especially over the internet. However, in the setting of minimal risk factors and a recent negative stress test. Your blood pressure ranges are within normal limits for someone your age and actually does not qualify as hypertension --- i.e. a BP of 120/80 is normal for you. Your echocardiograms also report that your ejection fraction is normal (> 50-55%).
Avatar n tn I was hyper and said to have all indications of Graves and was started on Carbimazole 30mg daily and Propranolol in 2007, now I am hypo for the last 1-3 months and on only 5mg daily of Carbimazole. I do blood work every two months. Why am I still on Carbimazole if I am hypo? I read somewhere you said something to the fact that you may not have Graves if you are now hypo. What did you mean? I am having weight gain. Tell me what I can do to combat this and I will do it without question?
1828749 tn?1317778518 Do NOT change your meds based on this answer!!!!!!! Why did the doctor change your meds? SVT and IST are two very different conditions. I think a minimum requirement before treating something is to verify the diagnosis, just like a legal judgement is required before putting someone in jail. Also, propranolol and verapamil are very different meds.
Avatar f tn My 16 year old daughter has been suffering since April 2015 with constant nausea (but not being sick), acid reflux, dizziness, fatigue and slow weight loss (appetite was okay) it came on all of a sudden. She was admitted with suspected appendicitis in the September 2015 as she was having bad stomach pains/cramps sickness with a high temperature but it was diagnosed as mesenteric adenitis on a ultrasound scan. She has had a couple more episodes a few months later but never went to hospital.
Avatar n tn Non-selective beta-blockers, such as propranolol act on both types of receptors, in both heart and lungs. Propranolol and other medicines in its class are capable of evoking bronchospasm in people with asthma. Metoprolol is selective, but not entirely so; thus, asthma worsens in some people given this “selective” medicine and you may be one of them. Your doctor may have prescribed the metoprolol for both relief of the syncope and treatment of your hypertension.
