Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
Avatar f tn It is not intended to be used for weight loss alone! Did you know it can cause hair loss and kidney stones? By the way, I have been on Topomax for about a year and haven't lost any weight becasue of the other drugs I am on. Think twice before you add another med to your list!
Avatar f tn I also had my thyroid removed 2 yrs ago, making me Hypothryodism. Battling the effects of this everyday has now be compounded by the addition of a Beta Blocker. I ve been prescribed Propranolol 40 mg 3x a day for hand tremors. Since the surgery I gained almost 20 lbs, now that I m on Propranolol...I ve gained an additional 10 lbs in 2 month. I"m at my wits end, 5ft & now 185 lbs. Although the Propranolol has helped my tremors, I cannot afford this weight gain.

Avatar n tn Your glucose level was also too high - if it was fasting glucose, it was in the diabetic category. Has that been addressed? Diabetes/glucose issues can also cause weight loss, anxiety and insomnia. That said - even if your FT4 is down to 1.63 (per your calculations), it would be higher than necessary and could still cause symptoms. FT4 should be approximately mid range.
Avatar f tn I had my first migraine when I was 12 and they became chronic and literally everyday after two car accidents. (Rear end and head on). I am soon going to b getting my nerves on my c3-6 burned to help with the headaches and neck pain. I'm only 23 yrs old. I had to quit my career (cosmetologist) I loved it and right before my migrianes randomly became daily I had an offer to become a redken color artist and do hair in big time hair shows up on stage with many famous hairstylist.
Avatar m tn Since the strokes, the migraines are almost a daily occurrence (although he does take propranolol as a preventative med for them), he cannot tolerate the CPAP( we have had additional sleep studies and made changes to the CPAP without any improvement).
Avatar f tn Iv tried propranol. Worked pretty good actually for my daily migrianes but causes such rapid weight gain I couldn't handle it. I know what ppl may think. Well u may not b in that much pain then to come off it it it helped. I have major body issues. And I used to work out hard and diet a lot and had a nice in shape body. Then got in two car accidents, neck problems now chronic daily migrianes. Iv had migrianes since 12 anyways. But the neck problems just added on to them!
Avatar n tn I was hyper and said to have all indications of Graves and was started on Carbimazole 30mg daily and Propranolol in 2007, now I am hypo for the last 1-3 months and on only 5mg daily of Carbimazole. I do blood work every two months. Why am I still on Carbimazole if I am hypo? I read somewhere you said something to the fact that you may not have Graves if you are now hypo. What did you mean? I am having weight gain. Tell me what I can do to combat this and I will do it without question?
Avatar f tn My 16 year old daughter has been suffering since April 2015 with constant nausea (but not being sick), acid reflux, dizziness, fatigue and slow weight loss (appetite was okay) it came on all of a sudden. She was admitted with suspected appendicitis in the September 2015 as she was having bad stomach pains/cramps sickness with a high temperature but it was diagnosed as mesenteric adenitis on a ultrasound scan. She has had a couple more episodes a few months later but never went to hospital.

Avatar m tn I recently was having palpitations and have been given propranolol. I know that it is usually not to be used if you have asthma, However, i also read that many athmatics can use it. I used it a long time ago when i was a teenager, before i developed asthma and it was great. Also read from some websites that it can be quite dangerous. Not sure if i should take it or not. Any advice.
Avatar f tn Forgot to mention symptoms. Foggy brain,no concentration, increased appetite, weight loss, blurred vision, tension, tremors, anxiety attacks, panic attacks, increased heart rate, dizziness, insomnia, confusion, memory loss. Eye pain and pressure.
Avatar f tn I have tchardia, night sweats, severe anxiety attacks, weight loss with a normal appetite, nauseau, frequent bowel movements, muscle weakness and intolerance to heat. My t4 i have been told is 24.5 normal range in Canada is 12-22. The confusing part is my antibody test is normal and my tsh is on the low normal side. Avatar f tn Hi, I have suffered with migraines for many years & was placed on prophylactic meds-Cymbalta & Propranolol. About 3 months ago I developed Trigeminal Neuritis on my R side. I have to say it was the most painful affliction I ever experienced, even worse than the 2 spinal fusions I underwent! I was placed on Trileptal & am up to 600mg 2x/day, as well as continuing with Cymbalta & Propranolol.
Avatar n tn I am a 30 year old male and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I also had several episodes of panic attacks. After 4 months of treatment with carbimazole & propranolol, I am now clinically euthyroid and there's no more panic attacks & tachycardia. I have been doing brisk walking for last one month. I started slowly, but now I walk briskly on plain surface, slopes and stairs. I walk approx 2 miles everyday for 45 minutes. I have been still advised to be on Carbimazole 20 mg.
Avatar f tn Normal body weight 115 (30 yr F) but gained 12 pounds in 3 days after start of propranolol. Continued to gain an additional 13 in the next 2 weeks. Began methimazole one-and-a-half weeks after propranolol. I normally eat 1900 calories per day w/moderate activity. Could I have gained 25 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks on that sort of caloric intake? Or is it the medication? DR said I had some fluid retention but made no further comment about the weight gain.

727090 tn?1268839348 t drink and not over weight. I have been on propranolol 10mg 3xs a day for a history of high heart rate and blood pressure. Since my kids have been on christmas break, we all were staying up real late and staying in bed real late. I noticed that since all the sleeping i was doing, my heart rate has been very low, unless Iv been excercising or cleaning. When sitting my heart rate is 58-62. My blood pressure is pretty normal with this heart rate.
Avatar m tn Hi My age is 41, weight is 85 KG and height is 1.7 meters. At the beginning of this year I started feeling slight dizziness and shortness of breath. I latter found out that my blood pressure was on the high side averaging 140/90. I tried to exercise this pressure down, healthy eating, no salt, but problem is that sometimes my pressure would spike to levels like 160/110 pulse 150 for a short time of less than 5 minutes and then leave me feeling weak for a few days.
