Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar n tn The first time I had a panic attack I had just finished smoking (medical marijuana) and was preparing for bed. Before I knew it there was this very loud ringing in my ears, so loud I couldn't hear over it. My heart was pounding incredibly hard. I was feeling cold even when I put a sweatshirt on. My chest was tight and I had uncontrollable shaking. I also had slight pains in my arm.
Avatar f tn I recently quit smoking, stopped all caffeine and limit my sugar intake. Thanks for your time and input!!
Avatar f tn How much propranolol are you on? I have been on it for more than a decade and never really noticed any problems. Any medication has a huge realm of possible side effects. If you weren't this way before, ask your md to try another beta-blocker. There are lots of choices. It depends to a certain extent WHY you are taking it as to what are the other reasonable choices. Good luck, sometimes the best cure is simply stopping taking a medicine that is turning you inside out.
Avatar f tn I was taking Depakote, Lithium, and Propranolol. I have been off my meds for almost 3 months because I lost my insurance. I want to stop smoking. Since I am struggling with my moods due to lack of meds, I am very concerned about how the nicotine withdrawals if I were to quit cold turkey. Any suggestions? From my research I have found that Chantix is definitely not an option for me.
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar f tn If you have been smoking a long timing, the damage to the heart and lungs took a while for CAD to develop and your heart muscles are at the point where they are struggling to pump efficiently and arrhythmia develops. It is not too late to quit and help your heart out. It is difficult to not stress about it and that will make your arrhythmia worse. And even if it is difficult, you want to find someway to relax. You have to gain control over the risk factors and smoking is one of them.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
3122467 tn?1342138836 To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.

Avatar f tn I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy. 2 weeks later I have come back on again this time seems normal I'm quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem or similar and would you say it's something to worry about I just want to talk to people with the same situation so I feel comfortable and can kinda put my mind at rest a little.
1828749 tn?1317778518 Do NOT change your meds based on this answer!!!!!!! Why did the doctor change your meds? SVT and IST are two very different conditions. I think a minimum requirement before treating something is to verify the diagnosis, just like a legal judgement is required before putting someone in jail. Also, propranolol and verapamil are very different meds.
Avatar n tn I also take the Propranolol twice a day for my heart. The Propranolol was prescribed for my heart and never for anything else. Now I am currently taking Propranolol in the morning along with Paxil, at night I take Propranolol again. I take the Klonopin is taken as needed twice a day.
Avatar f tn In the end, NOTHING could control the levels and I had RAI and TT in 2008.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar f tn I take it daily however it is along with other meds too. Usually treating migraines and/or anxiety is not a one-thing-fix-all. And even if something worked on you in the past may not work today and vise-versa. You can definitely ask about it, it won't hurt. But, my suggestion is to just let your doctor how bad it is and let him/her choose what to give you next. Remember, treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
4155003 tn?1351614311 You need to talk to your doctor before getting out, i try propanolol because doctor said i had hyperthyroid, i took a pill, n discover chest pain, do i stop right away, i went back to the doctor and told her what happen and she dismissed for me to take propanolol and she said my blood work came back normal, i heard if you been taking propanolol for a while is bad to just quit, it can cause worse symptoms, so talk to ur doc, she will recommend lower dose, then she will take u off, if she thinks i
1124887 tn?1313754891 I'm taking 25 mg metoprolol and occationally 10-20 mg of propranolol because of anxiety, sinus tachycardia and PACs. I've got a stress test done, lots of EKG's (one of them uploaded on my profile), Holter, echo x 2, troponine after having a rapid heart rate, and a lot of other blood tests. Everything is completely normal except for the rare PACs and some sinus tachycardia.
Avatar f tn My doc prescribed me Propranolol and I have now come back to be with my dad! I did not want to take the tablets first and I don't have the kind of anxiety when I'm about to do a speech or something, but the kind where I am constantly thinking/feeling that something is seriously wrong with me! I plucked up the courage however to take one at 10:30 this morning after a really bad night before bed last night thinking I was dying!
Avatar n tn Hi, i am a 19 year old girl and weigh approx 8 and a half stone, I am taking a dose of propranolol 10mg twice a day for anxiety, I don't do cocain that often but I was wondering if there is any possibility it can harm me or kill me in any way if the two were mixed?
712802 tn?1274645485 I did get akathisia but opted to stay on Abilify because it helped me so much. My pdoc added propranolol, a beta blocker that lowers blood pressure, decreases anxiety AND takes care of akathisia. The combination of propranolol with the Abilify allows me to continue with the Abilify. We have to remember that every medication has possible side effects and everyone reacts differently regarding side effects. What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted.
Avatar n tn As Per pubmed The effects of diltiazem hydrochloride, a vasodilator often used to treat hypertension, and beta-blockers (pindolol and propranolol hydrochloride) on lipid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism were assessed by measuring serum levels of total cholesterol, high-density-lipoproteins (HDL)-cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose in patients taking these drugs for three months.
Avatar f tn She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
