Propranolol and prozac

Avatar f tn re not also busy diagnosing and treating the flu and heart problems and body pain etc. So theoretically they become much more expert in it and the interactions between drugs and things like quitting smoking and also in the appropriate drugs to prescribe for a certain condition. Beta blockers, for example, have only been found effective for social anxiety, which doesn't mean they don't work for some people for other things but that's not their main use in anxiety treatment.
Avatar f tn i take prozac and love it after 20 years of trying everything else…long/short, it helps with all but ANXIETY so she prescribed me Propranolol? just 10 mg 2Xs a day. i worried about ALL the side effects tho, should i be?
Avatar f tn I don't know about that medication. I looked it up and of course some people said that it could cause memory issues but it wasn't a common occurence. I do know that depression can cause it and I know you are on prozac but that doesn't cure depression it just aids and takes the edge off. You will have memory issues the longer you wait to get back out and enjoy life (however that can be for you). You may not think there is a way but don't give up. You are still alive.
1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone take propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks? I've had crippling anxiety for my whole life. Antidepressants increase it to the point where I'm in such a state I almost pass out from hypervenitlating. I've heard propranolol is good for this, and is effective.
Avatar n tn When these sites are blocked, heart rate and blood pressure are reduced and patients become less anxious. Because of this, propranolol is useful in treating chest pain, high blood pressure, and excessive nervousness. Unfortunately, propranolol often makes breathing disorders, such as asthma, worse because it tends to constrict breathing passages and sometimes causes fluid to build up in the lungs if it excessively depresses the heart.
Avatar n tn As for the akathisia, it has been caused by prozac and a host of other meds; make certain you are not still contributing to the condition with other medications, and try some inderal throughout the day to reduce the symptoms if you have them. JJ.
Avatar n tn Maybe deep down, the thought of me getting help triggered the happiness and then when it ended, i knew i wouldnt get the help anymore. Ive been on Sertraline, Prozac, Diazepam, Propranolol and Fluanaxol so i dont want to start up again.
Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar n tn I also take Clonazepam - 0.5mg for anxiety and Prozac - 20mg to help with my nervousness and anxiety. These medications do help, but I have noticed over the past year that my shaky head syndrome and my shaky legs while driving has gotten worse. It is getting to the point that I am barely able to drive, and I have noticed that my head is shaking more than it used to. Is there anything else I can do or any other medication I could take to help me so I can continue to drive?
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar m tn I have tried prozac, lexapro, zoloft, and wellbutrin. They did absolutely nothing for my social anxiety disorder. There's no guarantee nardil will work either, but the literature suggests it is the best medication for my disorder. I'm too afraid to take the pill form, but would gladly take it injected.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar f tn I take Abilify 10mg and propranolol 60mg and that combination works for me. Since I get orthostatic hypertension (dizziness when standing up) sometimes I started taking the propranolol at night and it reduced the effect. Anyway it is not a big deal. When it happens you stop and bend over until it passes.
3122467 tn?1342138836 To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.
Avatar f tn ve been doing research and have found a few cases where people are successfully taking Prozac and atenolol (it sounded like it was for migraines or something) but I was wondering if anybody here is on the same cocktail and if so, if there is any risk associated.
Avatar f tn I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy. 2 weeks later I have come back on again this time seems normal I'm quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem or similar and would you say it's something to worry about I just want to talk to people with the same situation so I feel comfortable and can kinda put my mind at rest a little.
Avatar n tn I also take the Propranolol twice a day for my heart. The Propranolol was prescribed for my heart and never for anything else. Now I am currently taking Propranolol in the morning along with Paxil, at night I take Propranolol again. I take the Klonopin is taken as needed twice a day.
Avatar f tn No, no, no. You don't do these meds with a nurse practitioner, for goodness sake. You only do this with an experienced psychiatrist you trust. That's a lot of medication and potential interactions, and these meds are hard to start and hard to quit. And most importantly, if you're doing great, why do you want another drug? None of them completely rid one of the problem.
Avatar f tn In the end, NOTHING could control the levels and I had RAI and TT in 2008.
Avatar n tn I know this is late but I just came across this after a search of my symptoms. The zaps can be caused from antidepressant withdrawal but I find that I always get them before a migraine (with aura). I thought this may be helpful for anyone that comes across this posting. I might add I also get the LOUD titinus, twitching, along with...
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar f tn I take it daily however it is along with other meds too. Usually treating migraines and/or anxiety is not a one-thing-fix-all. And even if something worked on you in the past may not work today and vise-versa. You can definitely ask about it, it won't hurt. But, my suggestion is to just let your doctor how bad it is and let him/her choose what to give you next. Remember, treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
4155003 tn?1351614311 You need to talk to your doctor before getting out, i try propanolol because doctor said i had hyperthyroid, i took a pill, n discover chest pain, do i stop right away, i went back to the doctor and told her what happen and she dismissed for me to take propanolol and she said my blood work came back normal, i heard if you been taking propanolol for a while is bad to just quit, it can cause worse symptoms, so talk to ur doc, she will recommend lower dose, then she will take u off, if she thinks i
