Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar m tn ve tried magnesium and potassium supplements, at best these reduce the intensity of the thudding but do not reduce their frequency by any stretch. I find they are often triggered more when I am talking and also after I sit down from being stood and my heart rate slows right down quickly as it usually shoots way up very quickly due to the pots when standing.
Avatar m tn t work for me--fish oil, magnesium, potassium, exercise, CoX10, Vitamin D, Vitamin B complex, Propranolol, Xanax. The magnesium, potassium, CoX10, & vitamins are all great to take, & I feel healthier, especially now that I exercise 4 days a week for 30 minutes, but none of them lessened my skipped beats. Fish oil actually made me skip more beats on average, & there are studies & articles like this from Harvard linking Omega 3 to a host of other problems (http://www.health.
Avatar f tn The cardiologist at a private medical centre was not able to help much to control the rate, and he was prescribed Herbesser 200mg (diltiazem), Propranolol 20mg (10mg x 2), Lasix, Slow K (potassium supplement), warfarin 2mg and rosuvastatin 10mg (for cholesterol). But his condition persists. He gets breathless easily. We have heard of ways to cure Afib, one of which is ablation, and have contacted the National Heart Institute.
Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar f tn Of course all blood work came back ok and I didnt have a heart attack but they said that when I just casually walk my heart rate is to high so they put me on Propranolol. I had a bad bout with Amytriptaline 3 years ago and Ive never taken any meds but 1 since out of fear of dying. Since I have been on the med things are much better but its like my heart is fighting the meds to skip. I just feel uncomfortable and still out of breath when I walk.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar m tn i went to see cardiologist, she said that everything is fine with my heart and it might be just the deficit of magnesium and potassium. But 1 month after that I am still feeling that my nerves are always tense, I feel tightness in my jaw, I cant sleep,I feel tingling in my right foot, I have to take xanax before the bed to fall asleep. Sometimes I feel chest pain. Thank you for your answer and help.
3122467 tn?1342138836 To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.
Avatar f tn To get back on track, you probably have to skip alcohol for a while, watch what you eat and drink to see if there are any other triggers. Eating foods that are rich in potassium and magnesium may help, and don't stress or stop exercising because that doesn't help either.
Avatar f tn I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy. 2 weeks later I have come back on again this time seems normal I'm quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem or similar and would you say it's something to worry about I just want to talk to people with the same situation so I feel comfortable and can kinda put my mind at rest a little.
Avatar f tn re not also busy diagnosing and treating the flu and heart problems and body pain etc. So theoretically they become much more expert in it and the interactions between drugs and things like quitting smoking and also in the appropriate drugs to prescribe for a certain condition. Beta blockers, for example, have only been found effective for social anxiety, which doesn't mean they don't work for some people for other things but that's not their main use in anxiety treatment.
Avatar n tn I also take the Propranolol twice a day for my heart. The Propranolol was prescribed for my heart and never for anything else. Now I am currently taking Propranolol in the morning along with Paxil, at night I take Propranolol again. I take the Klonopin is taken as needed twice a day.
Avatar m tn I did 2 days on 40 mg of Propranolol and I had the same side-effects than on the metoprolol... and I guess it's not side-effects but anxiety symptoms that I experience. Also when I return on the Propranolol for 2 days at a bigger dose, my blood pressure and pulse rate wasn't under control at all, heart rate was in the high 80 sit at rest and 150 and more just walking in the house...
Avatar f tn In the end, NOTHING could control the levels and I had RAI and TT in 2008.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar f tn I take it daily however it is along with other meds too. Usually treating migraines and/or anxiety is not a one-thing-fix-all. And even if something worked on you in the past may not work today and vise-versa. You can definitely ask about it, it won't hurt. But, my suggestion is to just let your doctor how bad it is and let him/her choose what to give you next. Remember, treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
4155003 tn?1351614311 You need to talk to your doctor before getting out, i try propanolol because doctor said i had hyperthyroid, i took a pill, n discover chest pain, do i stop right away, i went back to the doctor and told her what happen and she dismissed for me to take propanolol and she said my blood work came back normal, i heard if you been taking propanolol for a while is bad to just quit, it can cause worse symptoms, so talk to ur doc, she will recommend lower dose, then she will take u off, if she thinks i
Avatar m tn m tired of being sick but I just wanted to know if hopefully your bp and potassium are ok. I know how hopeless you can feel and be when you know your body is acting up and I also know it will make you very anxious. it's unnerving! I hope you get better and they come up with something. Gabapenton is an excellent medication if you can Take it! It helps many different problems. It helps my les aches when I know I've had my allotted 20 mil of potassium. :) Good luck!!
Avatar n tn Hi, any information you can give me would be very helpful. I am a 40yr old nonsmoking female. Who for about 20 years has gotten silent migraines with the flashing aura being the only symptom. I have had a full cardiac work up due to a diagnosed accessory pathway that causes pvcs/pacs but nothing else. Today at work I had 2min episode of binocular diplopia.
Avatar n tn Hi, i am a 19 year old girl and weigh approx 8 and a half stone, I am taking a dose of propranolol 10mg twice a day for anxiety, I don't do cocain that often but I was wondering if there is any possibility it can harm me or kill me in any way if the two were mixed?
Avatar n tn As Per pubmed The effects of diltiazem hydrochloride, a vasodilator often used to treat hypertension, and beta-blockers (pindolol and propranolol hydrochloride) on lipid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism were assessed by measuring serum levels of total cholesterol, high-density-lipoproteins (HDL)-cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose in patients taking these drugs for three months.
