Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar f tn I take it daily however it is along with other meds too. Usually treating migraines and/or anxiety is not a one-thing-fix-all. And even if something worked on you in the past may not work today and vise-versa. You can definitely ask about it, it won't hurt. But, my suggestion is to just let your doctor how bad it is and let him/her choose what to give you next. Remember, treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
Avatar n tn Please note that propranolol is a beta blocker and, in addition to quelling anxiety, will lower blood pressure. Generally speaking this medication is not given if the systolic blood pressure falls below 100.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed an increase in propranolol for migraines and anxiety.I was taking 120mg in the morning(extended release) and my doctor has raised the dose to 160mg. I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime. Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
Avatar f tn I am 47 and have suffered from migraines and headaches for about 6 years. The only thing that helped was Topamax. I used it about 6 years ago for about 2-3 months. Unfortunately, it made me extremely nauseous and my hair started to fall out. I am so desperate for relief that I asked my doctor to try it again, but at a lower dosage. The first day I took 25 mg and felt Like I had "morning sickness" all day. I am supposed to gradually increase to 200 mg by the end of the month.
Avatar f tn My oncologist prescribed Epleptin and Neurexal for me. I have been on this medication for 3 months now and my headaches are not as severe or often as before. I feel great!!! :):):) Please go and see your neurologist and ask him for this medication.
Avatar n tn These include ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others) or aspirin to help relieve mild migraines and combinations of acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine specifically meant for moderate migraine attacks (Excedrin Migraine). The drugs of choice however are triptans such as Sumatriptan, rizatriptan, naratriptan, zolmitriptan, almotriptan, frovatriptan and eletriptan. You may need to try which of these medications works best for you, in consultation with your doctor.
Avatar f tn can propranolol be used for migraine prophylaxis in a patient with heart rate of 60 and family history of diabetes
Avatar f tn What are some things you can do for migraines??? I have always suffered from migraines and as of today am totally off my daily meds that help keep migranes away. Also I can't take my rescue meds.
1868815 tn?1412541757 I had to do steriods IV for three days. When they gave me prenidsone to take at home and end up getting migraines. With the migraines it put more pressure on my eyes and I start loosing eyesight again. I did not do another treatment because doctor was trying to control the mirgraines. I took different types of pain meds. Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Flexril, and then some.
687729 tn?1397992727 I have been taking Klonopin and Propranolol for years, being treated for a benign tremor and migraines. I'm tired of feeling dopey all the time and I have quit the Klonopin and cut my Propranolol dosage in half. I've been getting leg cramps and headaches (not full-blown migraines, but nagging headaches that make me want to go back on the Klonopin). Can I expect these symptoms to disappear?
778037 tn?1377986200 The efficacy of propranolol in the treatment of a migraine attack that has started has not been established, and propranolol is not indicated for such use. The initial dose is 80 mg Inderal daily in divided doses. The usual effective dose range is 160 mg to 240 mg per day. The dosage may be increased gradually to achieve optimum migraine prophylaxis. If a satisfactory response is not obtained within four to six weeks after reaching the maximum dose, Inderal therapy should be discontinued.
Avatar f tn i had t o discontinue because i was feeling funny with headaches, pumping heart pain in lower chest and dizziness and faintness. So i discontinued and was ok for some time unless if i got hungry. Now i have pressure in the head and upper throat ans if i have got flu and tightness in the collarbone on my left side .
Avatar f tn I am 23 and have been suffering from intense migraines for about 12 years. Seizuresfor about 3 years, but this isn't about the seizures.
1125820 tn?1265284446 I'm currently taking the beta-blocker Propranolol (120 mg/day), which requires I only take one pill per day. Aside from feeling really lethargic throughout the day, it has done a great job of preventing migraines and the daily headaches I used to get. If you haven't given beta-blockers a try yet, I definitely recommend doing so! Good luck and I hope you find relief soon.
Avatar f tn I've suffered from migraines my entire life, I cannot take my usual meds because they are harmful to the baby. Does anyone else suffer from migraines and have any tips? I'm 9weeks Thanks!
Avatar f tn If any one can help answer my question, I would be so grateful. I have been hospitalized in the ER three times in the past two weeks for bradycardia. All this suddenly started happening in the last two weeks. I start to feel weak, have a seizure, this last time, I fell down on the kitchen floor and hit my head pretty good. I am a 28 yr old female who has been on propranol for almost 4 years. I have a at home blood pressure monitor, that also checks my pulse and I do it religiously.
Avatar f tn I take a baby aspirin a day, propranolol and magnesium. Have taken These meds for years. Have had CTs and MRI some years ago. Last CT was 2012 and seen neuro. Have regular eye checks and physicals. Doctors never seem concerned. Thanks for your input.
Avatar n tn I read Sertraline reacts with Propranolol. It makes Propranolol more toxic and can give me low BP and bradycardia. Recently my BP was a bit high (140/90) and pulse rate was 72. Shall I take the psychiatric medicines and how should I schedule the medications without suffering a lot?
967168 tn?1477584489 I can't believe it but it's been a full week and I feel alot better, still some swelling, but it may take awhile to fully go away - I can live with that. We were in a minor car accident on Friday and I got upset and bam-o pvc's started and haven't stopped - so I took Inderal when we came home and it helped. My question is about is Inderal - I thought it was for migraines? how long typically does it work or last? My bottle says take as needed...
1285921 tn?1271718059 I have suffered from migraine headaches for about 13 yrs now. 5 months ago I injured my back. I have allot of other pain issues as well including two bulging discs in my neck, fused ankle arthritis in my knee, tendinitis in my knee, bursitis around my ischial process, and I also suffer from peripheral neuropathy. Since the injury, even tho it is healed I have been experiencing migraines and other sever headaches, approximately 4 a week.
Avatar f tn As many meds your husband is taking my best advice is go to his doctor and take every bottle with you and tell him what you and your husbands wishes are. I have had some back surgeries and 1 fusion. Nothing enjoyable about that. Perhaps sooner than later with the hallucinating especially. I'd be just as worried about mixing the medications and the possibility of an accidental overdose. Good luck and GOD bless.
Avatar f tn My Dr prescribed me Propranolol for my awful, frequent migraines. The first time I took it I felt weird. Now when I take it I feel like I am dope sick. i've tried every other medication for my migraines, but they make me feel like I just did a lot of cocaine! My heart races, my anxiety rises, I shake and can't sleep. Now I feel like it's either live with the migraines or be dope sick without migraines. HELP!!!!
