I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium.
Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
My dentist gives me my shot and see another patient, by the time he got back to me I was fully numb. and the numbness last for 8 - 12 hours. I am highly allergic to lidocaine it puts me into anaphylactic shock, I have an epipen but sa that I don't have to use that I just make sure everyone is doing their job and I always wear my medic alert bracelet.
I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy. 2 weeks later I have come back on again this time seems normal I'm quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem or similar and would you say it's something to worry about I just want to talk to people with the same situation so I feel comfortable and can kinda put my mind at rest a little.
The prescription medicines like triptans, rizatriptan and zolmitriptan come in various forms like nasal sprays, injections and tablets that dissolve on the tongue and can be used for you since nausea and vomiting is an issue. Prophylactic medicines like propranolol, pizotifen and valproate can be tried. re not also busy diagnosing and treating the flu and heart problems and body pain etc. So theoretically they become much more expert in it and the interactions between drugs and things like quitting smoking and also in the appropriate drugs to prescribe for a certain condition. Beta blockers, for example, have only been found effective for social anxiety, which doesn't mean they don't work for some people for other things but that's not their main use in anxiety treatment.
I also take the Propranolol twice a day for my heart. The Propranolol was prescribed for my heart and never for anything else. Now I am currently taking Propranolol in the morning along with Paxil, at night I take Propranolol again. I take the Klonopin is taken as needed twice a day.
I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug?

I take it daily however it is along with other meds too. Usually treating migraines and/or anxiety is not a one-thing-fix-all. And even if something worked on you in the past may not work today and vise-versa. You can definitely ask about it, it won't hurt. But, my suggestion is to just let your doctor how bad it is and let him/her choose what to give you next. Remember, treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up.
I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms?
I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.

She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
ve had quite a few stellate ganglion blocks and have had some success. They thought the lidocaine infusion might help the other pain I deal with and kill two (or more) birds at the same time so to speak.
KittKat23-78, Sorry the infusion didn't help you!! I hadn't heard about having several a few days apart; I'll have to ask about it. Mine is (at least one) being paid for by worker's comp. I'm hopeful but also trying to keep things realistic and in perspective.
left pointer finger, at work i stuck a cedar sliver under the nail past the start point of the nail. I attempted to pull it out and it broke off. only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. I attempted to cut and split the nail with razor blade but once i got part way thru nail it hurt bad. my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches.
Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
