439159 tn?1267686052 Take it easy and you should be fine. I ditch and don in the water, and make sure the divemaster is aware in advance that I'm doing chemo. I keep my DAN membership current and only dive with reputable operators, and I don't dive in really cold water during tx. Actually, I'm more relaxed in the water than any place else. Go log some bottom time, you'll be glad you did.
Avatar n tn This question has been asked before. No relationship between SCUBA and floaters OTHER than diving and looking at the blue sky make floaters more visible.
Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar m tn I undertook my PADI dive instructor course which i passed but when i went for a HSE medical the failed me and stated i should not scuba dive at all, this was all without examination, i informed my cardiologist and he stated there is no reason to stop diving. When i dived i had no ill effect, even at 40 meters and in strong currents, i can run 5 mile without any problems and i also weight train with no ill effect.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar m tn Further to this and my only possible explaination is that about 4 months ago I went diving and did not do a safety from approx. 24m down. The symptoms that I have seem to concurr with decompression sickness, but I have ruled this out due to the fact that this happen some time back and these symtoms usually happen within 48 hrs......
3122467 tn?1342138836 To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.
Avatar n tn To what depth? Cave diving? Wreck diving? Probably not, providing decompression protocols are religiously adhered to, but this is a question for a diver-physician who is intimately familiar with your particular history.
Avatar f tn I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy. 2 weeks later I have come back on again this time seems normal I'm quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem or similar and would you say it's something to worry about I just want to talk to people with the same situation so I feel comfortable and can kinda put my mind at rest a little.
Avatar n tn My a-fib is paroxsysmal and have no other known issues. My question is; is it o.k. to go scuba diving with this condition, which may have been corrected with the RF procedure. I am currently taking Rythmol 225 and Atenolol 25 twice/day. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I had asked this question before, but never really god an answer and I haven't done this yet so I wanted to see what the proper medical opinion was. I'm 35, have a history of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart palpitations (I'm on medicine for all three). I'm considering taking a scuba diving class and I've seen various recommendations stating a person with a history of heart disease MAY have to have a stress test before scuba diving.
Avatar f tn re not also busy diagnosing and treating the flu and heart problems and body pain etc. So theoretically they become much more expert in it and the interactions between drugs and things like quitting smoking and also in the appropriate drugs to prescribe for a certain condition. Beta blockers, for example, have only been found effective for social anxiety, which doesn't mean they don't work for some people for other things but that's not their main use in anxiety treatment.
Avatar n tn I also take the Propranolol twice a day for my heart. The Propranolol was prescribed for my heart and never for anything else. Now I am currently taking Propranolol in the morning along with Paxil, at night I take Propranolol again. I take the Klonopin is taken as needed twice a day.
Avatar m tn When I was younger I was an active Skin Diver and I am going on my Holidays to Egypt where I am told the diving is amongst the best in the world. Havn't got time to see the doctor but what do others think about me Diving on the Coral reefs. Not talking of any great depths maybe 10-15ft. I am almost 63.
Avatar n tn I have eye floaters and I would like to know if I can practice sports like tennis, horse riding, diving, without further risk for my eyes.
Avatar f tn In the end, NOTHING could control the levels and I had RAI and TT in 2008.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar f tn I take it daily however it is along with other meds too. Usually treating migraines and/or anxiety is not a one-thing-fix-all. And even if something worked on you in the past may not work today and vise-versa. You can definitely ask about it, it won't hurt. But, my suggestion is to just let your doctor how bad it is and let him/her choose what to give you next. Remember, treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
4155003 tn?1351614311 You need to talk to your doctor before getting out, i try propanolol because doctor said i had hyperthyroid, i took a pill, n discover chest pain, do i stop right away, i went back to the doctor and told her what happen and she dismissed for me to take propanolol and she said my blood work came back normal, i heard if you been taking propanolol for a while is bad to just quit, it can cause worse symptoms, so talk to ur doc, she will recommend lower dose, then she will take u off, if she thinks i
Avatar n tn Hi, i am a 19 year old girl and weigh approx 8 and a half stone, I am taking a dose of propranolol 10mg twice a day for anxiety, I don't do cocain that often but I was wondering if there is any possibility it can harm me or kill me in any way if the two were mixed?
Avatar m tn It is no fun during or after if you have problems while diving. I was stupid a couple of years ago and did some because I thought diving was awesome. I have horrible times with my ears and never been able to properly release and regulate the pressure (aka I can't "pop" my ears and they very rarely do it on their own). I thought I would be fine so I went diving anyway. While ....
Avatar n tn As Per pubmed The effects of diltiazem hydrochloride, a vasodilator often used to treat hypertension, and beta-blockers (pindolol and propranolol hydrochloride) on lipid metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism were assessed by measuring serum levels of total cholesterol, high-density-lipoproteins (HDL)-cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose in patients taking these drugs for three months.
